The trope Soul Train shares it's name with the Long-Running television series Soul Train. As the two are completely unrelated and Soul Train is not a pre-existing term, the trope should be renamed to save on confusion. The work has first dibs on the title.

Phantom Train, after the train in Final Fantasy VI?

Happy with Phantom Train. Ghost Train is fine too.

Phantom Train or Ghost Train both make one expect ghosts. This trope doesn't actually involve ghosts, just souls. Nor in fact, does it need to be about trains. It is about a vehicle that ferries souls to the afterlife. The most classic example of it is probably Charon's Ferry.

I would totally dig a reference to Classical Mythology in the title.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

[up][up]I was just thinking about this. Plus we don't even have to make it a ptitle anymore.

Somebody suggested Soul Ferry. Although we could use the IRL word Psychopomp.

We already have a page for Psychopomp, which refers to a figure, not a vehicle.

In shop for Ghost Ship I suggested Soul Ferry. It's pretty clear and to me it bring an image of Charons Ferry from old greek mythology, which I think this trope is supposed to be. However, looking trough examples it seesm it's just a train, with souls/ghost. Redefine more clea and fix examples alongside rename?

Altough Psychopomp Something could be good, there is always a problem that most non-english and especialy those who don't know original word who not have any idea what this trope is trough title. Unless I am complety wrong, current guidelines ("I think them more like a... guidelines than actual rules") promote clear, easy to understand titles?

Also, how the heck do you say pronounce Psychopomp? Psycho-pomp?

That's how I've been pronouncing it. We also have a policy of "pre-existing terms take precedence of clarity" but whether or not you consider Psychopomp+vehicle pre-existing is up to you. I'm not sure I would separate the vehicle form from regular Psychopomp personally.

Plus how many have actually seen such a word as "psychopomp"? I looked it up, but that might be best saved for the description.

How about Reaper Train (or something similar)?

Let's take the easy way, add redirect from more clear names to more complex name. So main trope is named Psycho Mobile Or Something and redirects from Soul Ferry and such. Still, I would prefer it other way around, more because of clarity even is Psychopomp is pre-existing term.

It's also an obscure term. I saw it and thought it had to do with playing one's self in one's mind (as in psycho + pomp).

Phantom Train has nothing to do with the trope. It's neither about phantoms or trains.

I like Charons Ferry. It's one of the best known examples.

The Phantom Train from Final Fantasy VI did have to do with this trope.

Charons Ferry is a good one because it's a famous classical mythology reference and provides an easy chain of reference. Plus, there's no problems about getting confused with other tropes involving ghostly vehicles.

I didn't recognize this trope from the title, but I could recognize a trope named Charons Ferry no problem.

Actually, since we already have trope for Psychopomp, Charons Ferry probably fits better over there.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Agreeing, it fits perfectly. We just need to make sure that description makes it clear that this can be anything, not just literal ferry, as has happened now. Most examples are trains.
