So...to be clear, are we or aren't we going to institute a policy of not talking about the show until the episode actually airs?

And I'm pretty sure that at the very least, all discussion of it needs to be spoiler-tagged until a week past the actual airdate, by forum policy. So let's at least do that, please.

I'm all for it. But I'm pretty sure Canada and the US air it on different days of the week, so take that into account.

At the very least, we know that Fighter Flight has not aired on television yet. I'm fairly certain the show is on Sundays up here.

Ayup. I rather doubt the Empire expected or planned for the cannibals and the Rebels actually teaming up. As Mara Jade once pointed out, the Emperor's farseeing didn't exactly work out for him like he thought it would.

Technically, they're not cannibals, unless you're insinuating that the stormtroopers are also Ewoks.

What do you think they ate in addition to their regular diet before offworlders showed up? I doubt that they suddenly developed a taste for sentient flesh upon seeing Han Solo and/or Imperials.

I mean, if I wandered into a small town in northern England, I rather doubt the locals' first response would be to fire up the barbecue.

Bad example. England's in human territory. Restate it when England gets sentient bears with opposable thumbs. tongue

That right there is the difference. It's not like the Rebels were other Ewoks. They were tall people.

Problem is in assuming I'm human. tongue

Kidding aside, you see my point. It's very unlikely that this isn't something they've been doing for a long time.

I rather doubt the Empire expected or planned for the cannibals and the Rebels actually teaming up.
Nor would they, had the Rebels not brought a shiny, gold-plated protocol droid into a covert operation combat zone... who, in turn, the man-eating teddybears mistook for their god. Being ready for that sort of development is well beyond mystic foresight, and straight into crazy prepared dangerously genre-savyness.

Speaking of said droid, I still think it was a bit too early to use the dynamic duo as a borderline Wolverine publicity stunt, but the in-universe explanation of Bail sending them himself was pretty well-put. I hope the inevitable Vader cameo is used just as sparingly.

From "Rise of the Old Masters"...

Phantom + Stygeon manta is the new OTP!

Seriously, if the show won't be allowed to get away with the same type of extreme violence as The Clone Wars, adult humor like that is just as acceptable a substitute.

Seriously? Seriously. What have we talked about every week so far?

Please post everything about episodes in spoiler tags until their actual air date.

It's bad enough that episodes don't air in Canada until the week after you guys get them, I don't want to be reading anything two weeks in advance. Besides the fact that episodes are supposed to be tagged until a week after they air by general forum rules anyway.

Fighter Flight was obviously filler as stated before, but I didn't mind it. The Ezra/Zeb bickering was a little annoying at first, but afterwards it was toned down and was actually kind of fun. Also, am I just wearing my Shipping Goggles, or does Ezra seem to be interested in Sabine? He was enthusiastic about her in this episode, and he did have a moment in the season opener.

As for Rise of the Old Masters, it was pretty good. I'm sure many people would like the darker tone this episode had - some parts were actually quite intense. The thing with Luminara was quite creepy, and the Inquisitor, while not likely to show up on any favourite villain lists I may have, was still fairly intimidating. That lighsabre throw was pretty cool, as well. Also, expanding on Kanan was cool too.

I don't think it's just you. Though since Sabine and Ezra don't look close in age I don't know how I'll react if the show goes anywhere with it.

[up] According to the Encyclopedia Sabine is 16, while Ezra is 14. That's not too big a difference. However she quite obviously isn't interested in him romantically. Of course things could change, but so far both his attempts only earned him an eyeroll from her.
Rise of the Old Masters Pretty good, although it seems Rebels will follow TCW's tradition of non-sense episode titles grin. Poor Luminara 'tho. That whole hologram-ghost thing really was creepy. I saw the clip that showed her sarcophag -and I was sure about her being dead from the start-, but the transition of the hologram-face to mummy-face was still a bit disturbing.

If Luminara's dead, then what was that thing in the cell? It's way too complex for a hologram, and a corpse wouldn't be good bait for Jedi unless there was a life-force they could sense.

The character in the news leak may actually be an actor in what is essentially a fantasy equivalent of blackface (it's the Empire, I don't think they'd be above that). And it's possible Luminara actually did survive Order 66 only to be captured and executed later in a way that allows the Inquisitor to keep her from becoming one with the Force, and is using her rotting corpse as a Soul Jar.

On another note, do you think Gall Trayvis will come into play later?

[up] wild mass guess Her death was so traumatic it left a Force-impression on the body...okay I managed to scare myself with this. Just as I was typing it down, I thought "what could be that traumatic?". And immediately Imhotep jumped to mind...But no, it's unlikely she survived Order 66 to be mummified alive. She was on Kassyyyk with Yoda when the Order was issued, and Yoda said they didn't know of any other survivors. If Luminara had survived, Yoda would've known it.
BTW the "ghost" really wasn't too good to be a hologram. Remember these? Also don't forget the empire had twenty years to refine the technology.

[up][up] Well, The Clone Wars series was really bad about Jedi not sensing things they should have been able to sense (like...someone hiding around the corner from them) so it wouldn't surprise me if Rebels was continuing the trend and that really was just a corpse.

Or it was simply the Sith using Dark Side powers to make it feel like the body was alive. Again, deception is the way of the Sith, and there are plenty of weird Sith rituals around. Even if the Inquisitor didn't learn any, or if Sith rituals aren't Vader's style, Palps would totally see the use and have the ability to make the corpse give off a clouded signature.
