Oh some people have stated that if the Seventh Sister was Barriss Offee, they would have brought Meredith Salenger to reprise her own role instead of getting Sarah Michelle Gellar. I've heard from Kablob that Freddie states that Gellar wouldn't want take over a role that Salenger has, such as Barriss, in some podcast somewhere, but I haven't actually heard it.

Then again, we don't see Matt Lanter reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in Rebels since Anakin is dead and only Darth Vader remains. And if Meredith Salenger had played Seventh Sister, the moment we hear her voice out of the Seventh Sister's lips is when the cat is out of the bag and any big reveal equivalent to Darth Vader's five words would be rendered as The Un-Twist.

All I know is that this speculation is Filoni's greatest achievement of trolling the fandom, exceeding the Fulcrum speculations by a large margin. The only way to know for sure and lay the speculations to rest is when the Seventh Sister confronts Ahsoka.

Wouldn't Grand Inquisitor imply that he's in charge of the organization? He didn't seem that powerful.

[up][up]I think they definitely want to keep us guessing at this point.

...Meanwhile, the poor Fifth Brother is just coming across as totally overshadowed here.

[up][up][up] I think you're really overselling this. I haven't seen anything that convinces me she's not Barriss yet.

[up][up] He could've just been the most senior.

[up]Oh believe me, I am not a 100% on the boat that this definitely not Barriss Offee. I have to concede for now that the not-Barriss camp has gained more ground in the debate in wake of this revelation (with some former pro-Barriss switching sides like Kablob), but in no means that does that mean the speculations are closed for good. Especially when Gellar goes on speaking of the Seventh Sister's motive of hunting down Ahsoka.

I'm just reporting on what I've seen in the Star Wars fandom recently. And applauding Filoni for his master trolling scheme.

Except a) I don't think that they've gained any ground with any of the recent revelations, and b) while they're clearly milking her identity for all it's worth, I don't think that Sarah Michelle Gellar voicing her is a particularly trolly move. I think you and the people you're talking about are reading way more into this revelation than is there.

Perhaps. Perhaps we're all overthinking these things. In any case, I can't wait to see where the Season 2 of Rebels takes us. And I do feel sorry that the Fifth Brother has to get the short end of the stick. Ever since the first Season 2 trailer, fans ignore him in favor for the mysterious Seventh Sister and the late-Grand Inquisitor. Heck, we don't even know his voice actor or anything. Just a brute who screams cannon folder when the going gets tough. Hope he has something interesting to his character.

I knew it wasn't Ventress! That would be too stupid.

Well obviously it isn't Ventress since everyone found out about the green skin of the Seventh Sister in the first Season 2 trailer and that Ventress died in Dark Disciple. The real debate around the Seventh Sister on the Internet for months has always been Barriss Offee or a new character.

I'm of the opinion that they wouldn't be working so hard to keep her identity a secret unless they had something to hide. It's the same thing with Rey in TFA. They're trying so hard to keep their identities a secret that it's obvious the fanbase knows who they are.

[up][up]I read the spoiler, but will read it anyway.

However, there is an even better reason this is not Ventress.

Reason:

WHY WOULD PALPATINE ALLOW SOMEONE HE ORDERED TO KILL OUT OF FEAR OF HER KILLING HIM TO SERVE HIM?

Even better, Ventress was supposed to be Dooku's apprentice when he replaced Palpatine. Which means she has rudimentary Sith training. Which is not what you want in an Inquisitor. They're specifically not meant to be Sith.

Who trains the Inquisitors then?

Vader, presumably, but he trains them not to be Sith but rather dark Jedi (basically he witholds the secrets of the DAAAAARK SIIIIDE)

The Inquisitors are Dark Side Acolytes, which means Vader trains them to use the Dark Side, but he doesn't teach them Sith philosophy. Basically, they're not dangerous to the Rule of Two because they don't have the same kind of ambition that is drilled into a true Sith.

Their power also seems to be a fraction of an actual Sith's. Compare the way Kanan manages to hold his own with and then defeat an Inquisitor, vs. the utter Curb-Stomp Battle that ensues when he tries to fight Darth Vader.

Well, also keep in mind that Anakin Skywalker is incredibly powerful to begin with.

But Anakin's power was vastly reduced by way of chopped off limbs and slow roasting. Although your point does stand.

However, I think the point is that Kanan, who was trained up to being a Padawan, being able to defeat an Inquisitor while being rusty is still a far cry from what even Ventress was capable of. So the Inquisitors are probably not that well trained.

Pretty sure the new canon has done away with this concept. Vader is being treated as a powerhouse across the board.

pretty sure it's just that Anakin was THAT strong, so even with a handicap he still packs a punch

The general concept is Vader is stronger than Anakin (and stronger than basically any contemporary, except maybe Master Yoda), but if he hadn't been crippled, he could have been a lot stronger.

Anakin was already extremely powerful when he was using the Light Side of the Force. Yes, his injuries left him weakened, but he also switched to using the Dark Side, which has a lot more raw power. So it probably works out to being about the same level.
