What do you mean we are commiting a genocide?

I'll try to be as simple as I can.

The Hero, for the large part of the first two arcs, goes around hunting monsters called the Deviation/the Shells.

The monsters are known as demons from alternate world that enters to the hero's universe through people's mind, possessing them.

In early stage, they look normal unless provoked, albeit bit dazed. Then in the later stage, the bodies horrifically mutate into Body Horror inflicted monsters. Think of Necromorphs. They are extremely hostile and dangerous, and to stop them, you have to destory the body completely. There Is No Kill Like Overkill for these abominations. The Hero then extracts the spirits from the bodies and crystalize it into jewels that he can use for fuel for his spells.

Then it turns out that they are spirits from alternate universe who just wants to run away from their Eldritch Abomination-invaded world to our, safest, world. To be specific, they are actually the reconnaissance (is that the right term?) sent out to investigate our world.

For some reason, though, when they enter our world, they always end up being abled to transfer their mind/spirits to other people's body and mutate the hell out of them.

What happens to the people from alternate world whose souls have been extracted by The Hero? Empty Shell.

What would be the reasonable response to this, for you guys? The Hero, fyi, is an utterly stoic Ordinary High-School Student Emotionless Boy yet wants to do what is right and aspires to be The Messiah.

More importantly, does this idea makes sense?

It mostly makes sense, a point or two I was unsure of, but why is this title mention genocide? Like, is that the monster's from the other Universe asking that, or the hero?

: The empthy shell aspect sort of counters any real reason to purge the shells, especially if the mutated only looks like monsters. It does however introduce a aspect of strenghting the veil to AVOID random people being posses and threwn out of their bodies.

Apologies, but I don't quite get what you mentioned. Intellect and comprehension is not my strength...

He's saying that, if the people after being jewel'd are an Empty Shell, then there's no reason to jewelify them in the first place — the person is already dead as soon as the monster possesses them, so as long as the monsters aren't Always Chaotic Evil, then killing them doesn't help anyone.

Ah. I see. Should've made things more clear; the monsters ARE Always Chaotic Evil, even though the spirits themselves are more benevolent.

Well, if they're Always Chaotic Evil, then genocide is justified, quite honestly.

Sounds like a Guilt-Free Extermination War. (yes, I'm just pimping that because I launched it.)

...uh, if I was the hero, I would feel pretty justified about extermination. The soul extraction? Yeah, unless you can defeat the monsters by conventional means or there's an alternate fuel supply.

I'm having it as a plot point that whenever The Hero tries to use magic using the souls as the fuel (it's not revealed until much later), he always feel very uncomfortable (hence why he sticks with his martial arts most times), because it's practically screams of agony of the souls.

Some of the complication of the plot comes in when one of the spirits actually succeed in jumping into this universe and comes and demands why the Five-Man Band is using his comrades' soul to entrap more of his comrades. Let's say, he's not pleased.

OK, so let's see if I have this straight:

The demons aren't evil. However, they can't help but possess someone when they come to our world. And when they possess a person, they and the person get warped into a monster, which is evil. Destroying the monster results in the person's soul being stored by the hero, who uses it to fuel his magic.

Have I got it mostly right?

technically they are not devil. They are same people as us, just from Alternate Universe.

Other than that, yeah.
