So I've never really posted here, but the trailer for Legacy of the Void came out today, and it's getting me kind of excited.
"Why does everything have to loop back to YGO?" -Guy who ruined YGOInteresting. I've played through Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm", and I liked the campaigns. I'm pretty terrible at actual Pv P matches, though, so I haven't played Star Craft II'' very much beyond that. I'm still looking forward to this, though.
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever. So they're going to try and take back Aiur? That should be interesting. I wonder what planet that was that exploded, though. And I see the protoss still apparently have some kinks to work out among themselves.
I'm excited by the trailer! I love when Blizzard (or any company, really) pulls together these kinds of epic myth arcs.

"You can reply to this Message!"So are the units from the Heart of the Swarm expansion going to carry over? Or is Blizzard going to keep the games separate for balance purposes, as they did with the first two releases?
They're obviously going to carry over. Keeping them separate makes no sense to me.
I mean, they're also talking about changes to Swarm Hosts and Oracles and whatnot.

Is the cinematic for LOTV spoiler-ish? Haven't been rich enough for HOTS.
Also, any word on new units and what-not?
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984The cinematic is kind of a trailer mish-mash of other cinematics, so it's a bit hard to tell what's going on other than some fairly generic stuff. It doesn't seem to have much if anything to do with HotS though.
They released multiplayer changes as three separate videos on their youtube channel: Terran, Zerg, Protoss. Two new units for each race, and major changes to several others. Lurkers are finally back, which makes one wonder why they took them out in the first place.

Balance, probably. Just like how Terrans don't have Medics outside campaign.
But terrans still don't have medics, while zerg are getting lurkers back. It just feels like the devs were being stubborn in trying to make the race work without lurkers, before giving up on the final expansion.
More like they didn't feel like they needed Lurkers until the new expansion.
but HOW?Given the way they're completely revamping Swarm Hosts, it seems like they intended them to fill a lurker-esque role in HOTS but were unhappy with how it turned out.
Didn't the medi-evac replace both medics and dropships?
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Still waiting for an explanation for any Protoss vs Terran missions, if they exist.
The medivac can't heal itself, though, which forces players to think a bit more creatively. You'll note that a lot of the missions in the Terran campaign can be solved with "throw a giant ball of marines and medics at it."
At the same time, many of the later missions became progressively more mech-based. Some bio might help augment an army, but they just don't have the firepower by themselves.
Then again, the campaign also had the Science Vessel, which was basically a Medic for mech.
"Why does everything have to loop back to YGO?" -Guy who ruined YGOStim packed marines have more dps per supply than any mech unit, last I checked.
I mean, there was nothing stopping you from using other units, but M&M also worked.

Ah, the Science Vessel was really handy for the Odin mission.
Thanks for the links, I was surprised this wasn't up on the site from the get-go.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984They work most of the time yeah, but some missions really push you into using other units, usually the ones that are introduced in that mission. Like the Siege Tank one or the Battlecruiser one.
"Why does everything have to loop back to YGO?" -Guy who ruined YGOGoing back to the last page and "Hold the line" missions, SC 2 offered bonus achievements for doing stupidly hard shit you weren't really expected to do. Such as destroying three hatcheries in mission 3 on Hard, or 25 (I think) buildings in the one with the giant mining laser. I've managed to wipe out every last enemy building and unit in the latter, though it's not something I'll be repeating any time soon!
Perfectly possible, but bloody difficult since it requires you to be highly offensive in a defensive mission, which ultimately gives you no extra chance of winning because the final swarms are scripted and almost unkillable anyway.

My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.I've managed to get all the campaign achievements except for Aces High.
Final Mission on Hard and you can only use the Nova once. Now that is difficult.
