Haha, nice Usht.
Dude, you don't have to upload your mind. And even if you do make a copy, you could probably just mentally combine or something to remain "you".

A synchronization issue, surely? It would require the technology to be capable of both up- and down-loading. Although now having two avatars to go about in would present new problems...
Re: Continuity of consciousness problem with brain uploads... if it were possible to transfer the mind seamlessly, would that solve the problem?
I'm interested in having sex with myself regardless of the sex and gender identity of my clone. This is me though. As for why this appeals to me? I don't know. Maybe I just love myself that much.

Da Rules excuse all the inaccuracy in the world. Listen to them, not me.As far as I know, there's no objective measure of who somebody is. A copy of you would certainly believe that they were the continuation of your past self, and they would have exactly as much subjective evidence that they are the continuation of your past self as you do.

[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.If by that you mean, ensuring that my own perspective switches from my human body to the computer, then yes.
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat! You know, there are 3 things I want to have post-singularity.
- Immortality: I want to experience everything, go everywhere, find all the knowledge I can about our infinite multiverse. You know, all the awesome things we see in fiction but can't do now.
- Super-Intelligence/empathy: Only way we'll ever truly understand all of each other, and it'll be fun messing with a few not as intelligent aliens/alternate humans along the way.
- Being a Reality Warper: Cause that would be fucking AWESOME!

@OP: Yes. Biotech, cybernetics, mind uploading, immortality, I want as much as possible.
I'm hoping to become human first. One step at a time.
It seems people are confusing Hive Mind with Mind Hive. Hive mind: one mind with many bodies. Mind hive: body with several minds.
@Aon: I'm interested in having sex with you despite the sex or gender identity of your clone, too!

My name is Cu Chulainn. Beside the raging sea I am left to moan. Sorrow I am, for I brought down my only son. There would probably be all sorts of minds running around if Transhuman tech becomes feasible. And you think the world is a varied place now...
I coudl go with being a cyborg for a few hundred years...
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.I find the mortal body extremely limited, yet I don't want to loose my ability to feel both emotionally and physically, nor my mentality.
If I manage to find a compromise between ascension to a perfect life form and retain my ability to feel the wonders of the world, that would be perfect.
A single phrase renders Christianity a delusional cult.I personally don't believe humans will ever be immortal in their current form, so that's a moot point for me. Just extend my lifespan, if you please.
There's no justice in the world and there never was~This one is skeptical. Being a disembodied demon might be utterly miserable.
“Love is the eternal law whereby the universe was created and is ruled.” — St. BernardI mean, well, I'd like to live a little longer, give my youth a bit more longevity. But I doubt that'll happen soon enough for me, and eternal old age is something I don't really fancy.
As for going immortal, cybernetic, fully crazy post-human warghleblargh, well; I don't really know the consequences of that. But once the technology is there, it's bound to happen anyway - sooner or later someone will try it. Then we might be able to see the proper consequences of such a transformation of a trans-human, and I would want to see exactly how this guy is ticking. Any drastic changes in personality, or over-dramatic changes to who I feel I am in general... I wouldn't want the robotic part of me to take over. How far am I me if my brain is different, is my body is different, etc.? What if I - the I I am now inside my brain - would no longer exist, and it is simply a robot that's using my body now? Basically, I'm too cautious to give a yes or a no right now, not knowing the exact consequences and the exact conditions that this would entail. Call me boring. Even if all seems well, well - I still might not do it anyway. I'm quite attached to my old body. Funny, that.
Aw hell, I'll take the eyebeams.
I doubt most of this technology would be available to the average person anyway.
There's no justice in the world and there never was~Yes I would want to go beyond my mere human limitations. Limited or no concern for disease or ailment and my injuries I have now would be a moot point. I could go soldiering again if I so chose do high risk police work. I would be hopefully free to learn more extensively as I would hope my life expectancy would be extended beyond standard limits. Basically I want to become a cybernetic bodyguard/Police Officer.
It would suck to lose all the bits that help make me human but it might a worthwhile sacrifice.
Who watches the watchmen?Brain uploading is kinda iffy for me. Its not really me, its just a clone of me. My same issue with teleporters now that I think of it.
But immortality would be awesome and theoretically doable. Of course the second we'd get immortality we'd start worrying about entropy.
Entropy is not a concern for anything resembling us. The Sun still has billions of years left over, and if we manage to escape that, the Milky Way has trillions of years of usable energy left.

Da Rules excuse all the inaccuracy in the world. Listen to them, not me.Forever is longer then trillions of years.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? With all due respect, I'll worry about the trillion year mark when I've gotten through the first hundred billion or so.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"@Yej: You asked "What about making bodies eternal?"
Eternity is not simply a big number of years.
“Love is the eternal law whereby the universe was created and is ruled.” — St. BernardAnd a trillion years across a 100,000 lightyear sphere is enough to lay out every possible arrangement of playing cards. Like I said, entropy is not a concern to anything we would recognize as "human", or even descended from human.
I'm almost certain you wouldn't want an eternal body anyway. Anybody who does probably doesn't realize how long eternity actually is.

We cover that already under Cloning Blues. I suspect that both "yous" would experience continuity of consciousness from the moment of separation, each believing themself to be the genuine article. I admit to being somewhat concerned about this myself, and realistically there's no way to know. From an outside perspective, you'd continue to be you. From yours? I have no idea.
Edit: I personally would have no interested in sex with myself, unless I could create an Opposite-Sex Clone.
