I'm sure it reads way better in the archives. But it did slip in some plot stuff too. Forge almost surfacing, Suzy's blackmail, Dimitri characterization, introduction of Muse and the student council, more on Hijack's plan.

Yeah, I read through the entire game earlier today, and it flows well when read like that - we just get a bit tired of it because we've had to deal with it for so long (a bit under 30 weeks, I think).

I think that's just an artistic flourish. But since her description on the cast page says she's strange and knows all the school goings-on, her being in on the masquerade shouldn't really be a surprise.

Act 3 plot twist: it was actually a shonen protagonist training ground, where each student thinks they're the big secret in the school

That would actually be hilarious, as its own pitch. Like, a group of friends where one can see spirits, another is a vampire, another has like ki powers or something, another is a wizard, another is a spy, and they all try to keep their respective masquerades intact.

I'm pretty sure that's the premise of My Monster Secret. Which is indeed reportedly hilarious, but I haven't gotten to it yet. The To-Read pile ever grows.

Not that I haven't loved the entire thing, mind. I just don't think a "act 2" in which Hijack actually gets hold of a teacher would be good for the pacing.

But the chapter started In Media Res with the kids bursting into the teacher's lounge.

I don't know, to me it seemed as if it was building up to an anti-reveal. "Don't tell me you're actually... a Canadian transfer student!?!?!?"

The hitball game was going on so long I actually was surprised it ended. Ha. But seriously, Cody is now #3 in my favorite characters. He's probably beating out Isaac in being so anime, and that's most likely why.

The way you suddenly went from all-caps to lowercase made me think you were actually saying "DEAD" there but some broadcasting corporation dubbed over it to make it kid-friendly.

I can see that happening, but I think if that were the case, then it could have finished rather than been interrupted.

That's the only flaw I saw in my reasoning too.
