Hi, I don't know if any of you know about Pat the NES Punk, but trust me, he's awesome.

Handy link here.

I'm really sick of the Caustic Critic archetype, and Pat is a real relief. He reviews NES games in sort of a "sketch" style, and he actually reviews good games. Even when he reviews BAD games, he maintains his sanity (well, except for the Action 52 review. He was Driven to Suicide by that.) There are actually storylines, and... well, check it out.

I REALLY WANT A PAGE FOR PAT THE NES PUNK.

I saw his review of one of the Highlander sequels with Spoony. Cool guy, yeah.

He also did a thirty-one hour marathon for Child's Play in which he played EVERY SINGLE NES GAME with his friend Ian (who appears as a Jerkass video game store owner in more recent episodes). He raised over $8,000. I watched most of it, but sadly, it's a prime example of Keep Circulating the Tapes, because it was live. What little proof we have that it happened is "classic moments from the marathon", as well as a screen capture of one game played near the end, and a camcorder to the computer capture of a game played near the beginning. Thankfully, Pat has the entire marathon on his hard drive, but he's reluctant to release the entire marathon on DVD. But I sadly missed James Rolfe's appearance, and I couldn't find it anywhere. We can only hope...

All There in the Manual: His posts on NintendoAge, an NES collecting forum clarify some things.

I like his style and personality but the subject matter is pretty meh. Maybe cause I'm not much of a retro gamer or never played more than a few games on my old Nintendo but NES reviews are overdone and were not even that good when the Nerd started doing them.

Edit: And his update cycle could be a tad shorter.

Same here. Seems like a pretty cool guy, but the subjects of his show (coupled with the small amount of time he seems to update) don't make me want to come back.

Well I like him, although having watched his review of the "black box" games earlier and compared it to more recent stuff (like what I'm about to embed below) it could be that he took a little while to Grow The Beard.

Man, I remember these being the first cold splash of water in my face on The Problem with Licensed Games.

Reminder that linking videos with zero context is still very much against forum rules.

Pat commits desert fraud. Basically like his Intellivision Amico (another Christmas video that came out in a January), the episode is a response to recent Y Tber scandal.

And also mention of his N64 book at the end.

Yet in Strawberry Shortcake you could get away with it being treated as a legit crime.

And yeah as mentioned in the other thread, Pat's bit about being able to just start doing more NES videos like nothing happened is sadly on the nose as Jirard uploaded a Mario RPG video hoping the audience will just put the scandal behind them.tongue

What scandal was his Amico video in reference to?

With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptation

That despite his assurance of it being a thing, Tommy Tallerico didn't succeed with releasing the Intellivision Amico.
