I love taxes.

They pay for things like school and libraries and statues and parks and fountains and museums and national parks.

But for some reason, most people treat taxes as if they were some kind of Eldritch Abomination or parasitical nuisance. Politicians promise to eradicate them, and the common man whines about them, while reaping the benefits of the things taxes pay for.

When I'm finally old enough to pay taxes, I'll feel so satisfied at finally being able to contribute to society in a meaningful and productive way.

I just noticed that taxes is an anagram of Texas.

They're related to politicians in some way, no good can come of them.

It's not the police and infrastructure most people whine about, it's the kickbacks, bribes, and luxury items for personal use that gets people about taxes.

Don't take life too seriously. It's only a temporary situation.

But that's the fault of the people who use the money that way, not the tax money itself?. Why do people complain about the taxes rather than the immoral use of the tax money?

Taxes aren't that efficient. With charity they skim 1% off the top for adminstrative costs. With gov't, it's 70%+!

Wasn't there some breast cancer charity organization that spent a buttload of cash on copyright lawsuits on other charities?

[up][up]I don't know which bureaucracy you're thinking of, but many of the most popular American government programs have really low overhead, as in single digits.

But what about the senators and heads of government? They take thousands, if not hundreds of thousands in wages. Just to bicker and grab power.

Taxes are unpleasant to pay, but the benefits are nice (As are the exemptions...), and it does force richer folks to put more into the economy in a way (Rich people tend to not spend a very large percentage of their cash).

Taxes are complex, but are necessary for many of the things we take for granted.

NAP Taxes are still a form of economic/fiscal agression and therefore, wrong. Mary Ruwart and others agree. Ruwart dot com has interesting literature related to the NAP.

If these two rights to private property and to freedom of contract are taken as given, then the non-aggression principle is held by its supporters to lead to the rejection of theft, vandalism, assault, fraud and victimless crimes.

[up]x4 In most cases, legislative salaries are a relatively insignificant part of the budget. That doesn't mean they should go around voting pay raises for themselves though.

I've come to the decision that taxes are good. For one, it allows for nations that need to be socialistic to actually pay for all of these programs that people demand. Yay US!
