Her name is Ginger. She's been missing for several months now. It kind of weird since she's been a fixture of my life since before I can remember. We've had her for ten years and we got her back when I was a little kid. She was the nicest, she was always loving. I really wish she was here.

I still miss my cat. Even if it has been twelve and a half years since my neighbors decided to drown him in their pool.

Occasionally I wish I could make my wife not-allergic and get another cat. *sigh*

I wonder why we grow so attached to our pets that we feel such loss over them. I miss my bombay cat.

Same reason we get attached to people we will likely lose as well.

Miss my dog, although less than I should because I moved out two years before she died.

But we got a new puppy and he is adorable (he's the first one in that set of photos.)

I miss by dog, Pungo.

He died due to a car.

My childhood cats name was ginger.

Total bitch though. Especially in her later years.

I miss Smokie, my childhood Australian Shepard. Totally neurotic, but also totally loyal. A complete idiot savant at the fine art of fetching a tennis ball.. I remember when he figured out how to hold three in his mouth at once.

I acquired a stray that wandered into our yard and took an instant liking to me, when I was 12. We named him Daisy due to finding him in a patch of daisy flowers. I think he was abused and ran away - if you made any sudden motions he would cower. I recall getting yelled at by my parents and I went off to sulk and wallow in my self-pity for a spell, and this stupid dog just wouldn't leave me alone, all trying to be my friend and stuff. Just wouldn't leave my side no matter how much I shoved him away. I guess he didn't like seeing upset kids or something. Very friendly dog. Played well, smart, loyal, and even got along with our cat. He was alwyas happy to see me when I got off the schoolbus, he'd be waiting by the top of the driveway for me and my sister in the afternoon. I even sneaked him food from the dinner table, because that's what you're supposed to do with the family dog, right?

We had him for only a month or so... He liked to chase cars and got hit one day.

...

I am never going to own a dog again. It's been over two decades since that happened, and I still won't even consider owning a dog.

Cats are aloof, they keep their distance. I don't get as close to them. When our cat passed on a few years after the dog - despite having been in the family for years, it didn't hit me nearly as hard.

The sweetest, most affectionate cat I ever had died of Feline Leukemia Virus. Very sad. We had absolutely no warning, he just suddenly went downhill one weekend. And he probably caught it before we even met him.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

My parent's second cat was getting really old and thin, was almost 17. Finally decided to take one last walk around the house. Would walk a bit, than lie down and rest for a bit. Took her a few hours to do a circuit, then just found a nice sunbeam and passed on.

I remember when she was a three-month kitten. My mom sent me a few pictures from that last walk. Poor thing looked very tired, but just had to take that last little stroll out of habit.

My daughter won't remember her, either - she only met Lucy in-person once, and that was three years ago.

...

But they got a replacement kitty, a pretty tabby. Is so cute. waii

That pretty much describes my old cat, Felix. She was 20 when she passed away this past summer  *. Ironically, we got our other cats when we thought she didn't have much time left... when she was eleven. But yeah, she was very sweet when she felt like it, total bitch the rest of the time. Near the end, you could just tell that she didn't have anything left in her.

I'm not sure how I'll react when Scamp dies. We've had him since he was born. We owned his mom and we took him as our own when he was old enough to escape his bitchy ass mom. He's 15 years old. I can only just barely remember anything from before he was part of my life. I will not dwell on this though. I have my Scampy cat at the moment and I will be pleased with this.

My last cat was awesome, but it had some one in a thousand kidney disorder. She lived to be three, which apparantly is extremely rare for cat's with her condition. We planted a weeping wilow tree on top of her.sad

I miss your cat, too; I guess I should start using my scope.

I had a beagle. Dumb as a sack of rocks, but he could break out of a safe buried underground and surrounded by concrete if he wanted to track a scent. And he was a beagle, so that was pretty much anything anywhere. Little fucker kept escaping our yard and we're still not sure how he did it half the time. And he bellowed at anything.

I had a cat run away too. Her name was Jenny. She was an aggressive little ball of teeth and claws most of the time, but could be really, really affectionate. Pretty typical of cats, huh? Anyway we were moving house, and had to stay with my stepdad's mum for a while. Jenny just disappeared and never came back. We searched all over for her, but we ended up having to move into the new house without her. sad

^ She probably went back to her old home, cats hate moving.

I'm planning on moving soon and we'll be keeping our cat indoors until we're pretty sure she's adjusted.

I miss my sister's cat, even though I've never seen him (it's probably a him; his name is Bowie, as in David Bowie) before. So it's not really missing, more of anxiousness.

I miss my cat. He was so soft and cute and cuddly and endlessly patient (e.g. you could pick him up and cuddle him, and he wouldn't claw at you or try to escape, just sit there waiting for you to let go). It's been a year since he's died of kidney failure, and I still sometimes have dreams where he's alive and I'm playing with him, and then I get really depressed when I wake up...

My brother's cat is amazingly chill. You can pick him up and cuddle him and he'll just be purring away with this content look on his face. He's always content and things like being sprayed with water didn't really bug him. He'd fight for his life if he had to, but mostly he was just at peace with everything. He was like a stoner Buddhist hippie in cat form.

I don't miss my cat, because he's still alive. He has lymphoma, but the prednisolone we've given him extended his lifespan by 1 1/2 years so far. Too bad it's so expensive... D:

Living in Brooklyn for the past couple years, I am surrounded by cats. Never feed a stray cat, because then you'll be swimming in cats. I saw a white cat outside my kitchen window one day. I decided to sprinkle some food on the roof, and next thing I know, two other cats have teleported out of nowhere.

I sitting next to one of them as I type this. He's a gray tomcat who sits outside my window whenever theres bad weather. Snow, rain, it doesn't matter. I've pelted him with snow, jumped up and down like an idiot, waved objects at him — nothing. He just comes right back and sits in the pouring rail wailing for an hour. So what can I do? I'm defeated. I let him sit on the windowsill.

My husband and I took in a stray we called "Mystery" just over a year ago, we loved that little Russian Blue. He was the easiest cat to own and an incredibly sweet and affectionate one at that. He died of what the Vets believe to be cancer only two months after we took him in. I've lost 3 cats before him and yet his death hit me the hardest.

So we did what any other self-respecting cat lovers would do, we went down to a shelter to take in a cat in his memory... We had 4 cats by the end of the week. We love them but by God I hope they don't continue to multiply in death.
