Are they actually immortal or just very long lived? Either way It's implied that they're a rather violent species so it might be fairly common for them to kill each other. And there's vampire hunters to consider. They might well actually aid the species by weeding out the weakest of them whilst also keeping the population down.

I'd completely forgotten that Layla wasn't the eldest sister, just the eldest sister still living at home. Which does sort of obliquely raise the issue of immortals having children. Why isn't the world filled with vampires?
