Then what is Shadow then? Angst? I don't see your point on how he is not emo. Shadow being badass should not be an excuse for that. While I will admit he does not seem to be that nowadays I will say that the majority of his character spotlight was him being upset about how he could not remember ARC and later on barely anything about himself, but also how he did remember Maria.
My question is, why does Cosmo get bad flack for being upset about what happened to her as well?
Edit: That was meant as a question towards randomness, not you Odd1

Well, does he listen to MCR and Fall Out Boy and constantly talk about life being nothing but pain and misery and use copious amounts of eyeliner and talk about cutting himself a lot and did I mention MCR yet?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Thats not the type of emo I meant, I was talking more angst and anger really which if you ask me is what Shadow usually is in the early games.
I know her voice from Heroes, but I never played Sa2.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceJust watch Clement's Let's Play of it. Not really worth slogging through the treasure hunting levels just to see a mediocre (but alright for its day) story unfold.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. But I kind of like the real thing... in my hands.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceYou can still download the PS 3 port for a meager 10 do-
Oh.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyI personally think Sonic X only furthered Shadow's status as a Base Breaker by having him overpowered as shit. Sonic was already a pretty obvious Invincible Hero, and then Shadow goes and schools him a couple of times.
Episod 73 is basically him just dishing out the Worf Effect to Sonic & Knuckles without breaking a sweat, which was incredibly awesome to my younger self, but so much Shadow wank came from this series
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Pretty much any character who deals with an internal struggle, has a dark color scheme, or a bad attitude, and acts as a foil to the hero is "emo", aren't they?

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Oh, there's no question Shadow was broken as hell in X. Holy jeez. More in Season 3, though. In Season 2, he actually was reasonable enough that while he was still clearly better than Sonic, they eventually came out close to even to make it interesting.
In Season 3, he might as well have been a God Mode Sue. Or at least a Canon Sue. Controversial trope aside, he was pretty ridiculous in that Season. The only thing they did was make it so he couldn't last very long against the Metarex, essentially making it so he can only kick ass on a timer. However, I do like his actual character interaction in that season as is, minus the part where he's a dick for no reason when going after Cosmo. Seriously, you can't tell the heroes why you're attacking her? What the hell, man.
Also, IMO, I think Season 3 was the best. Never mind Dark Super Sonic, but Chris wasn't an annoying brat for once(he really became an issue more in Season 2, although he was a bit annoying in Season 1), and he was extremely useful while not taking time away from the other characters. I actually felt they did a splendid job of giving all the characters(the more important ones, as the Chaotix were a bit lesser in the story compared to the rest, but they still got more than enough) screen time there.
Also, despite Knuckles being gullible, him having one of the hugest hearts and always believing there's good in Eggman(which is actually true in the Anime as is) is one of the things I really like about him.
I personally thought Season 1 was the best, both from a writing and animation standpoint. Season 3 definitely has better writing than the last, but holy shit did the animation dip...considerably and really, while I liked the collect the Chaos Emerald plot across space, I just like Season 1 for being more down to earth.
And man, Shadow's always been a dick like that; he'd rather fight the heroes than tell him what's up.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Shadow's "Memory" problem was only an actual thing when they brought him back and gave him amnesia for no reason. It was only focused on in his own game, and it is the only time he could be considered "Emo"...since it was only mentioned in Heroes but not the main focus.
Rouge's voice actor is the same in Sa2 and Heroes...there's a difference in the way her voice sounds but its still the same.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.You know, someone should work on either a mod, or stand alone video where the animation is slowed down slightly and the lines from the audio clips can be sinked up correctly so we can get the story as close to as decent sounding as we can. Turn up the voices so they aren't drowned by the bgm as well.
Sonic X's poor animation turns me away from it. I've seen fans do a better job.
I also think the first season of X was probably the best. The only thing I didn't like about it was that, while I liked the formula in general, it was almost too formula in certain episodes. Kind of felt like a Popeye cartoon at times: everyone's trying to have fun doing X -> Eggman cards up a robot and attacks -> they basically wait around for Sonic to show up (during which someone usually gets captured) -> he gets the power ring -> robot goes boom. The bit about the ring being spinach, especially.
I kind of wished the other characters would get a chance to do something more than solve minor problems every once in a while. Especially since the show gave a bunch of them such badass entrances (Tails' introduction might be my favorite moment in the whole show). Not that it always did great things with the characters anyway: I still laugh at how badly exaggerated Knuckles and Amy were in this show, especially since those exaggerations started returning back to the games for a while as well.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. As in "put into a sink" or "smashed on the head by a sink?"
I beleive you meant "synced" instead.
I think X is the reason all of the Flanderization took place to begin with, ugh that was a dark time.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Hey, Luchadore Eggman was the best thing ever and should not be mocked.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! At least we got more Vanilla. Seriously, she has a lot to answer for letting her daughter team up with friends to fight robots and abominations before bedtime.
Maybe she knew how much of an asset Cream was to the team?
Ehh no FOFD that was not my issue, my problem is people give Cosmo flak for being emotional about how she is the last female of her race (and she is being hunted by the males, aka the Metarex) yet Shadow gets off near scot free because he's badass. I just don't see the appeal to him as a character and what makes him so different from Cosmo other then strength. Strength is not a character trait....
I think what bothers me moreso is that all he really is nowadays is just a strong character and outside of I think Archie and perhaps the upcoming Boom there is nothing else to him character wise yet he gets alot of the attention from the fandom just because he is strong.

Shadow is the No non-sense type rival that also acts as an opposite of the main character...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. But, he's not an opposite, really.
I don't know. I have trouble taking "badass" Shadow seriously. It might be because he's a gun-toting, motorcycle riding, cartoon hedgehog, but it also might be because SEGA hasn't done anything really great with the character. I feel like his best thing was his Heroic Sacrifice, and then he came back. Not that I wish that he didn't come back, I just think they don't really know what to do with him now.

They planned for him to come back as a character...they didn't plan on what they would do with the character story wise.
He's acts similar and different in certain ways.

I don't like Cosmo because I don't like plants and nature. #EGGMANEMPIRE
