@26674: There's actually confirmation of the exact opposite of that, check it:
Iizuka-san: Currently we dont. Now this product only, select the smartphone as a friendly platform to the user's, just say F 2 P and that was suitable for there. Personally, I don't plan to stop Sonic for home-video game consoles. Don't worry about them! And enjoy!
So yeah, it turns out people were being ridiculous and jumping to conclusions. Who would've figured?
Man, his answer is phrased awkwardly as hell.
Pretty much what Frostav said about Shadow. It definitely has that "find x to win" issue. Albeit, I don't find many of the courses that bad.
Anyway, glad to see that rumor of Sega and Sonic moving off of Console games permantly put to rest.

The translator doesn't speak English very well, but you understand what he was trying to say.
I don't understand what "Now this product only, select the smartphone as a friendly platform to the user's" is supposed to mean.
And why wouldn't they get a bilingual translator?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Sonic Runners was designed specifically as an easily accessible title for smartphones. Simple as that.
Also, IIRC this isn't the first time that a Sega interview translator evidently needed his/her own translator.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I've already died like 8 times because I hit a pit of spikes, and then the stupid invincibility were you can't jump forces me into a bottomless pit.
Why the hell did they prevent you from jumping when you hit the spikes for a bit?
It was translated by a fan.
...
I haven't played it in years, but watching some Youtube videos, I remember liking Sky Troops, Lethal Highway, and Westopolis. Some of the level concepts, like fighting Robotnik inside of his own supercomputer, caught my eye.
Sky Troops featured Mêlée à Trois, and that's lovely in any video game.
Lethal Highway, like Radical Highway, is the perfect environment for hedgehogs to run around in.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).IIRC, Sky Troops was Eggman's Fleet against Black Doom's floating ruins?
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life! For the record, although it was sort of answered already: yes, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is a Dolled-Up Installment of the very first Puyo Puyo game. As is Kirby's Avalanche, in fact.
Moon◊In fact, Puyo Puyo Fever (localized as Puyo Pop Fever) was the only game in the series that was localized without it being turned into a spinoff of another game, and even then they only bothered as it was a (minor) part of the "Year of Sonic" promo that saw the start of Sonic X, the release of Sonic Heroes and the infamous Sonic Happy Meal promo with the godawful Pakistani ads. They only put it out on the Gamecube and the DS and slapped a "FROM THE MAKERS OF SONIC THE HEDGEHOG" thingamaboober on the case hoping to sell a few copies based on Sega's attempt at starting a second wave of Sonicmania. They seemed to be under the impression that "if Sonic was this huge thing again, then a totally unrelated game by Sonic Team might sell a few copies anyways, right?"

It's a shame. Puyo Puyo is a deep and technical competitive puzzler, with the only one coming close being Panel de Pon/Puzzle League.
It's too bad that as far as I know, there's very little focus on Single Player. Not much opportunity to practice stuff before heading into the main Vs. modes.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.So what's up with the dying animation in Runners? It's worse than the infinite break dancing in 06 9(at least that was funny).
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Mobile games don't need effort put into little things like that.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I don't think he's talking about the animation, he's talking about how if you hit anything, you can't jump for a bit, leading to a lot of situations where you hit a bunch of spikes next to a bottomless pit, and you can't jump over the pit because hitting the spikes won't let you jump.
It just comes off as cheap and kinda bs, and honestly I hope they change it but considering this is a F 2 P mobile game I kinda doubt they will.

No, I was talking about the animation and how stupid it is.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Yeah, don't hold on to that hope.
@Robo: I wouldn't consider it a huge deal.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Losing control like that is not good game design in the slightest. In any game with death, if you die, you should feel like it was your fault, not the game's mechanics actively working to kill you.
Varśnāmi, nūdhrēmnāyīm eyī —"With the pen, I reach satisfaction"Welcome to mobile gaming micro-transactions. I'd say "enjoy your stay", but I haven't quite figured out how anyone who isn't the type to have more money than sense can.
Moon◊Apparently Sonic Runners is doing quite well in Japan. Like, it's the #2 mobile game there or something.
Is anyone else amused by the fact that after all these years, the only thing it took to get Japan interested in Sonic was a mobile game?
@FFOD The only reason I was asking is because neither project is more appealing than the other to me (they both seem fun to do) so I decided to go with what the people here would be more interested in.
However, that answer is apparently "neither" so who knows what I'll write. Possibly neither.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!
