Sounds like a meta enough concept to write about, enough motivation for me to actually write, and with spring break now just started, enough time for me to write time. Sign me up.

The thing about making witty signature lines is that it first needs to actually be witty.

So question, partially for participants and partially for Parable: Would it be OK to start a topic for people writing in the contest to discuss writing for it? In addition to providing motivation (so hopfully more people finish), we could vaguely discuss our stories without providing enough hints for the judges. Or is that too tempting for writers/judges to say/see more than they should?

I might complete a piece. No guarantees that I'll have found time by the deadline, but if I do, I'll post it.

Perhaps you should add a note to the front page explaining the submission process for the people who weren't here last time (if indeed there are any).

Also, out of curiosity, will there be a prize this time too?

Since you are our Go-to-gal this time around you could probably explain it better then I can. I'll put up whatever you say. And Yes.

I don't see why not. Feel free.

So, do we post our completed works in here? Or will a separate thread open up to submit our works? Or do we email our copies to the judges via some writing program?

Also, I would like to join as well.

I'll see what I can do. If I'm too ashamed of it, don't expect anything. But I'll probably throw in something coherent. I need a check up on my writing quality anyway.

@Roman and Parable:

The submissions process works the same as it did the last time.

  1. When you are finished with your work, post it on Free Text Host, an anonymous text-hosting service. It uses BBCode and you can assign administrator passwords for tweaking. Do not post your name anywhere in it! The judging process is blind!
  2. Send a PM with the URL of your Free Text Host story to Freezair For A Limited Time.
  3. Freezair (I.E., me) will pass the URL of the story on to all the judges. Your name will not be included since, as stated before, the judging process is blind. I (Freezair) am not a judge; I just pass along the stories.
  4. When the submissions are done, UR Ls to all the stories will be posted here, and the judges will post their results when they're done here in the thread.

Will we be using the same 25-point scheme as last time as well?

If you use MS Word, just go to "Tools: Word Count." You don't need a special program.

For those who don't have access to Microsoft word, this link here seems to help.

Alternatively, if the above doesn't work for you, try using a search engine for a word counting program.
