Were is my mind is symbolic of Edward Norton's character mental state
Untitled Power Rangers StoryThe Tyler Durden love is Misaimed Fandom (probably with a pinch of Draco in Leather Pants for flavor), according to Word of God. The writer intended the Durden/"narrator" byplay as a study in the fact that we all have a dark psychopath side to us, at least from what I've read of his statements. You know, that inner asshole who wants to say "screw the rules, I do what I want!" Fight Club was about what happens when you let that out to play.
The fact that everyone thinks Tyler Durden is so cool is pretty well indicative of the truth of this. We all want to be like Tyler, a little bit. People not realizing its a bad thing (or at least a self-destructive thing, as lampshaded in the movie) is the Misaimed Fandom part IMO.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~I suppose if you don't view self-destruction as a bad thing then it's not really an effective message?
I love the little Foreshadowing quirks of the movie, like that table that gets burnt...
The biggest giveaway was "Tyler's words were coming out of my mouth"

Untitled Power Rangers StoryPersonally, I like how the first couple of times I watched the film I thought "Holy crap! Tyler Durden is fucking awesome".
And then on successive rewatches I was like "Hold on a second, Tyler Durden is completely full of shit!"
When would you say is the turning point from "Tyler Durden is AWESOME!" to "EY, FUCK YOU MENG!"
For me, it'd have to be when all of project mayhem are watching the news and on comes the 'sploded building with a smiley face on it.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.^For me it was when he held Raymond K Hessel at Gunpoint and started threatening him, that's when I started feeling disillusioned and the point at which I realised Tyler was plain crazy.
Also I'm one of the lucky people who weren't spoiled, so glad that was the case although thankfully there's so much more to the movie than the twist.

@Schitzo. I am not the sort of person who is prone to having an epiphany. It's more that a competing hypothesis will slowly but surely overtake it. I gradually started seeing holes in Durden's logic until it eventually became clear that the whole edifice was a load of batshit insane nonsense.
My favorite parts of Fight Club besides (the whole thing) is the amount of Ho Yay David Fincher put in to fuck with mostly straight (i assume) teenage audience
Listen to the comedy commentary track. The actors are totally in on the Ho Yay.

well that's in the novel as well
Humour, where would we be without it? In Germany, probablyyeah I know, but David Fincher actually noticed thease things and left them in there make the 18-24 audiance uncomfortable
1: Norton X Pitt 4every lolz
2: isn't the Ho Yay technically masturbation?

Untitled Power Rangers StoryIf you create an idealistic superman in your mind, you might as well make them your ideal mancrush target.
Watching the film again the first time since film class and, boy, I never realized how much Ben Stiller in Zoolander looks like Tyler in terms of costume design.
Love tearing bad movies to shreds? Join us every night at 8 PMTyler Durden did Raymond K Hessel the biggest favour anyone had ever done for him. Sure he may need counselling but the high paying job he's been terrified into pursuing will easily cover that cost.
I can't remember if I saw the film first at the cinema or on dvd, or if I knew about the twist before hand or not. It's been decades. But even knowing the twist sometimes it's hard to believe they're actually going to do it - maybe the ending will change or something.
I love this movie. And I too love the ending, it's weirdly cute in a dark way. Actually, I really like Marla because I think as far as a movie with the only female in it being the love interest, she's actually quite interesting, to me anyway.
