Which season do you like best? For me, it's Season 3 because Edmund actually got what he wanted in the end, and it was awesome.

I definitely agree that 3 is the best

the episode with Dr Johnson(I can't remember what it's called) is my favourite

I love Blackadder Goes Forth the best, if only because the Downer Ending is so powerful. I do love the third season, however, because Hugh Laurie as Prince George never fails to amuse.

[up] Ink and Incability I think (don't judge my spelling).

I like every season but the first. Dumb Edmund just doesn't sit right.

Pretty meh. Not as funny as the others, but Edmund as king of England is pretty awesome.

[up][up] But you have to admit that the first season's closing credit music is epic.

I loved the ending of Blackadder goes forth more than the the third though and General Melchett and Darling are good fun(well until the last episode when they become A complete monster and A woobie respectively)

the stupid Edmund in the first is so jarring I can barely watch it plus the humours just not that good, Brian Blessed isn't bad though

I think the third season was the funniest, but honestly it's hard to choose between the second, third, and fourth.

I guess it is.

Fourth is my favourite, but they are all so wonderful. I like the setting, I like Captain Darling, and I like how Blackadder is just mean, not evil.

I didn't mind season 1 so much. Dumb Edmund was annoying, but it had its moments, especially the ham of Brian Blessed. I think the Black Adder movie should have had all the Blackadders meet, then beat the crap out of the first Black Adder. It wasn't a terrible movie, but I think it lost some of the sharpness of the humor from the series.

2 or 3 were my favorites. Probably 3 because Edmund here is definitely evil and seeing him get what he wants kind of amused me. 2 had a rather weird Downer Ending, to me anyway. 4 was good too, even before the ending, the whole season had a melancholy feel to it and sort of took away the feeling of "this guy is a bit of an asshole and it's fun to watch him wallow in his schemes." Most of those were for power/money, 4 was sad because he was failing at a more..sympathetic goal.

^Hm, that might explain why some viewers didn't appreciate Goes Forth as much. Particularly those who usually like to like watching characters fail etc.

Anyhow, II is my favourite. I suppose that's mainly since it was the one that was repeated the most as I grew up, but also as the first with Ben Elton scripts, so plenty of ideas to play with.. for the record, I'm not sure I buy the ending, personal canon and all. I couldn't really decide between The Third and Goes Forth, I did like Hugh Laurie being a regular.

Back and Forth was alright, a happier conclusion. I saw it at the Millennium Dome, and considering the circumstances of it's creation, the premise isn't too surprising.

Blackadder may be, without a doubt, one of my favorite comedies of all time. Eminently quotable, hilariously clever, etc.

I sadly didn't enjoy forth. to me it's between Season 2 nd 3. And they're equally awesome to me.

It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.

@Jumpingzombie That would be The Cavalier Years. As I say, it could be my imagination- cheers though.

I don't think the first season deserves all the hate it gets. Sure the it is not as good as the following seasons and the humor is a bit stroppy, but it's pretty funny in its own right. And have I mentioned earlier, the closing credit music is awesome.

My favorite is the second season, though I like them all, even the first one. I only have the first and second seasons on DVD though, and a VHS with the last three episodes of season 4.

I love the series, though I haven't seen the first season yet. I really can't decide whether I like 3 or 4 more, though. 3 had the best history gags, more deranged plots, and some of Hugh Laurie's funniest work. On the other hand, 4 was in WWI (one of my favourite historical topics), more Stephen Fry, and the beautifully tragic ending. So, do I prefer 3 or 4? The answer, of course, is 'yes'.

I have just rewatched the third series. Edmund was such a delicious Magnificent Bastard, too bad things never worked out for him until the end.

Anyone notices that there is a butt load of Ho Yay between Blackadder and Baldrick in all four series?
