Darker Than Black sounds right up your alley.
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!^
I hate that artist. I hate the way he draws people. PEOPLE HAVE NOSES GOD DAMNIT. AND FACIAL FEATURES! USE SOME DETAIL!!
Part of that comes from the fact that I hate the Gundam series, and that artist did Gundam SEED.
Ninja Scroll, Basilisk, MD Geist, Fist Of The North Star, Vampire Hunter D, The Venus Wars.
How have you not watched this yet? If there's one anime I recommend to gun enthusiasts...
Oh, speaking of gun enthusiasts, you might like Gunsmith Cats as well. The manga is better though.

Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.Nitpick: The character designs were done by CLAMP. That's multiple people, all female.

Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.I second Black Lagoon. Hell, I was recommended it by Mr. Amazing Ben of Badass of the Week.
That gives it some righteous credentials right there, Barkey.
^^
Well I hate them.
^
I've had my eye on Black Lagoon, it looked good from the wiki entry on it.
You hate Gundam?
But seriously, I think you'd like the The08th MS Team, there is not nearly as much emphasis on mecha as other Gundam series.
You might want to give Starship Troopers a go. It has Powered Armor with a setting on boot camp. But it's old.
Planetes is probably right up your alley for realistic sci fi.
I always recommend Halo Legends
You may or may not like Baccano. But it is the only anime I can think of that's set in the 1920s.
You could like Gantz which is soft sci fi, and has plenty of Gorn. If you do, read the manga, the anime is...sub par and shorter.
I would also recommend Eve No Jikan. There is no fighting though.

My other signature is a Gundam.Hmm, seen Halo Legends and I'm not too interested in the Starship Troopers Anime, but Gantz and Planetes looks ok.
Claymore is the shit, by the way. Both the manga and the anime. Barkey, I don't like the cutsey anime anymore than you do. I actually prefer dark, brooding anime that doesn't waste time with obtuse slapstick humor.
MD Geist, for all its faults, is probably what caused me to go into puberty as early as I did. Fist of the North Star might have had an influence on my interest in bodybuilding and martial arts to the point where I found myself doing push-ups immediately after seeing it (I was about 9 or 10 when I saw it).
I'm going to benchpress a Peterbuilt now. Excuse me.

MD Geist and Fist Of The North Star fall firmly into the category of So Bad, It's Good, so keep that in mind...
Yes ma'am, they certainly do.
I know people say that Gurren Lagan is supposed to be the epitome of Rated M for Manly, but I'm more oldschool than most of the other people around here. It has a lot to do with the fact that I'm most likely older than the average troper.

Didn't really think I'd like either of those at this point.. I've seen some fist of the north star.
My roomate was trying to tell me how awesome Claymore is, but I've read its trope page, and I just don't see myself liking it.
Berserk, as a manga, is superb, but it is in roughly the same category as Claymore so you might have to pass that one up, Barkey.

The anime is superior, and you will never convince me otherwise.
Berserk or Claymore?
I'll also suggest Black Lagoon.
You vicious, vicious man.
No man, that K On show. K-On is fricking metal.

The group that did Gundam Seed was different I believe. Fafner In The Azure has the same artist for people, but a completely different design on the mecha, more related to Blue Gender plotline and a penchant for killing main characters. The people look exactly the same though.
You've hit most of the main ones in the series you like. I'll second Black Lagoon as it's generally described as "Cowboy Bebop in a PT boat, but with more violence". I've heard Gantz is good, but I've never seen it. I suppose it would depend on what genre you're in a mood for.

Fight smart, not fair.
Ok, so my roomate is an avid anime nerd. I do like some anime, but to be honest I hate a good majority of it, or rather than hate, it isn't my type of show.
Here is some shit that I like:
Cowboy Bebop Outlaw Star Blue Gender Trigun Big O Trinity Blood Ghost In The Shell(My favorite, all time.) Last Exile Jin Roh Witch Hunter Robin(Was aight)
So Yeah, stuff like that. I'm not a huge fan of mecha, I don't like super cute shit, and I love having lots of non-mecha tech in my anime. I know, I know, this makes me really fucking picky. But I am. I've thoroughly enjoyed all of the above, and I'd like to see more.
Note: No Code Geass.
