Looks interesting, but how come the jumps are a bit...like he's on the moon or something?

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary.""He"? Are you talking about the main protagonist or the pet, because the pet just floats around.
Hmm....the boss barely does any damage no matter how many times he hits the player...
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."March 2011, huh?
That timeframe seems a bit... unfortunate.
I'll probably still check it out, since I loved Monster World IV.
yeah; I keep forgetting to check out the relevant Nintendo Power issues so I can find more tropes. ^^;
The Protomen enhanced my life.I was sort of indifferent to this one until I saw the Giant Bomb Quick Look, which abruptly shifted my mindset over to "This looks incredibly badass." It sort of reminds me of an ultra-obscure GBA title called Blender Bros., but with a delicious-looking Metroidvania gooey center.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI just got this game today. Holy crap, incredibly addicting. It just keeps throwing new stuff at you. Very meaty but very managable.
Imagine Metroidvania with a familiar that also acts as a pet in a raising sim and also a combo extender during attacks, a sequence breaker during exploration, and assist. Now add a Plucky Girl and you have Monster Tale.
Luckyyy. I am still eying this game with empty pockets.
For a long time I've thought the art style reminded me of something, and now I think I know what: Amazing Island. Ellie looks exactly like the girl protagonist, minus the big bow, and with a white dress instead of pink.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaIt's out!? :O
The Protomen enhanced my life.Yep. Somewhat low-profile, but it did ship.
...I want to keep this thread alive, because I don't own this yet and want to siphon off the joy of others' discussion. But I can't actually contribute anything useful. I'm like a thread vampire.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaSame here o.o Must...get...to...store...
The Protomen enhanced my life.I have never heard of this in my life. I want it.
No European release.
FFFFUUUUUUU
Stargate SG-1 Let's Watch. Because my ZHP thing failed.I want this. I'll probably get it after I beat Hatsworth which I just recently obtained (side note, **** Weasleby). Also once I get some money.
Been playing it recently; about three hours in and nearly 30% complete, so it's probably not a terribly long game. Nevertheless, it's a fun game. It takes me back to the days of the SNES, but without the frustration that came with it.
I plan on getting this game soon, although I'll probably have to order it online. The Gamestop near me can't be trusted to actually have anything that not everyone knows about.
I got the game! ^^ I'm working on the third Kingdom, and getting Chomp's forms.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I can't believe I'm having this much fun with a cutesy game =) Last time I had this much fun with a cutesy game, it was the GBA version of Chu Chu Rocket =)
Since the kingdom progression is not really sequential after a point, it's easier to say: "I just got the dash and the flying platforms activated". That should be spoiler-free enough. Also, the music is awesomey module musick, something amazingly rare for the DS.
Videogames do not make you a worse person... Than you already are.I can't believe I just now discovered this thread.
Anyway...

The Monster Tale OST has been released! Now featuring actual track names!
And I can't believe I don't own this game yet!

Hey, remember Henry Hatsworth? Well, it looks like the developers are pulling a 5th Cell on this one... (i.e. that means new IP, same flavor).
Imagine Metroidvania (Monster World IV to be precise) meets Henry Hatsworth with pet raising, and you can control how your pet evolves. That's Monster Tale. Yes, there seems to be animesque character design but it seems to have been brushed up lately and the spriteworks makes up for it.
Apparently there's already a trope entry, but I thought I just might add more attention, because it looks like it Needs More Love.
