I'll believe it when I see a trailer. As this thread can attest, their have been many false starts for an adaptation. It's like the Artemis Fowl movie or the Diskworld Watch series, always in development, never actually coming out.
Some more concrete news
Tennant and Sheen to star in Gaiman and Pratchett's Good Omens
According to Variety, the series will be set in 2018, with an apocalypse on the horizon.
Sheen will play an angel called Aziraphale, while Tennant will star as a demon named Crowley.
Amazon have yet to comment, but Sheen told Variety in a statement that Good Omens was one his "favourite stories".
I can see Tennant as Crowley. Not so sure about Sheen though.

I've only seen him in a few things, but I've liked him in those things. He's got about the right level of well-meaning charm/smarm for the character, I'd say.
David Tennant as Crowley, though— see, now *that's* exciting.
Sheen was Lucian in the Underworld series. I liked those movies. I find this acceptable.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Equal parts humour and horror, fantasy and drama, this 6 x 1 hour series is written by Neil Gaiman (American Gods), who will also serve as Showrunner. It is based on the well-loved and internationally bestselling novel Good Omens by Terry Pratchett (Hogfather) and Gaiman.
Good Omens is being produced by the comedy team at BBC Studios, the BBC’s commercial production arm, Narrativia and The Blank Corporation, in association with BBC Worldwide.
Good Omens was commissioned for Amazon by Roy Price, Head of Amazon Studios and Prime Video content globally, and for BBC Two by Patrick Holland, Controller, BBC Two; Shane Allen, Controller, BBC Comedy Commissioning and BBC commissioning editor Gregor Sharp. Good Omens is set to broadcast on Amazon Prime Video and BBC Two in 2019. BBC Worldwide will distribute second-run rights internationally.
Apparently the director is Douglas Mackinnon who has previously directed episodes of Doctor Who, Silent Witness and Sherlock

Emerald City's Adria Arjona is Anathema.
Better Call Saul's Michael McKean is Shadwell.
Nina Sosanya is Sister Mary Loquacious, Ned Dennehy is Hastur, and Ariyon Bakare is Ligur.
Gaiman posted a pic of Madame Tracy's teapots and Shadwell's scissors on Tumblr, and I swear to FSM I have NEVER been as excited to see those particular items in my life.
I almost broke glass when I heard about Tennant and Sheen's casting. Pretty sure the neighborhood heard it... a mile away. It's just so perfect. The only thing better than that would have been a young Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, and that's either 1) not gonna happen, or 2) someone needs to get a workable time travel machine like yesterday. In the meanwhile, you will NOT hear me bitching!
Adria Arjona was fantastic in Emerald City. (I'd rec it, but the network cancelled it on a really frustrating cliffhanger. If you still want to see her in action - and one of the most interesting takes on Oz I've ever seen - go find it.)
And oh dear God, Jack Whitehall is playing Newt Pulsifer. I want to see the bloopers.
And while I know this is a very British thing, could we still kidnap the Stranger Things cast? Millie Bobby Brown as Pepper would be all kinds of awesome. Hey, she's British; 1 out of 4 ain't bad, right?

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said "I drank WHAT?"Really cool this was going forward.
The only casting that gives me pause is Michael Mc Kean, unless he does an accent for Shadwell, and it actually fits the character if he's given a particularly strong and regionally non-specific "Northern" accent. Because I think it's important to make him lovable rather than nasty.
Also, I saw on a Reddit thread criticism/questioning of Jack Whitehall's casting. I just remembered that I recalled him being cast in something else. When I checked, I recalled he was Paul Pennyfeather in the recent adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's Decline And Fall. Reminds me that I need to see that. But anyway, Pennyfeather is that same kind of sad-sack, Arthur Dent type as Newt, so he should be great.
Edit- Also, I just saw a Variety article that Miranda Richardson will be Madame Tracy. That's perfect casting.

Isn't Shadwell's accent the one that careens all over the place? I had a teacher once with an accent like that, but his accent moved all over Europe.
Not Three Laws compliant.Sort of. Although I don't think we are to get the impression that it's a fake accent. I think the quote is that Shadwell is "Northern", but so far "North" that he's in the North Pole, because everyone is a "Southern Pansy" to him. So like he'd most obviously be a Violent Glaswegan or alternatively from a grim city like Leeds / or a Geordie, but he isn't clearly any of those- because he'd probably speak slightly of all of them.
However, my inclination would be to cast a British actor who was from one of those regions and either do that regional accent or some combination thereof. For what it's worth, Clive Russell who voiced Shadwell in the radio adaptation was born in Yorkshire but raised in Scotland.
On another note, I just saw on Reddit Fantasy a picture of Tennant and Sheen in costume tweeted by Neil Gaiman, and the two look absolutely perfect. They even captured Crowley's weird-looking "shoes".
Goddamn, this is finally happening. I can barely believe it be it as there have been talks of it for at least 20 years. I mean this thread is 6 years old.
I admit for Shadwell, I'd be cheeky with it and have the man that complains about southerners be played with an American southern accent.

Some minor information from the Discworld Monthly newsletter that I received recently.
A few new faces have been added to the cast including Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton.
It seems such a long time ago when we were first told that a TV series of Good Omens was finally going to happen, but in reality it was only 2 years ago at Terry's memorial in 2016 at The Barbican.
We would love to hear from you about what your expectations are of the series. (email <rachel@discworldmonthly.co.uk> Subject Good Omens)
We have seen so many images come out from the filming over the last few months via Neil Gaiman's twitter feed, and from what we have seen, it looks amazing. We really can't wait until 2019 to see the end result!
To trawl the images head over to Neil's Twitter and Instagram accounts: (@neilhimself and instagram.com)
You could say that's a...good omen.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Info from this month's Discworld Monthly newsletter, including full cast list.
Neil Gaiman left this message to all the crew on the last call sheet (#109)
"Over a hundred days of shooting. We've been frozen and broiled sandstormed and snowed dogbitten and burned down. We've not had any two days of shooting that were like any other two. Through it all we've persisted telling a story about Peace vs War about looking after this world because it's the only one we have about making the right choices. Thank you all of you from Terry Pratchett and from me."
Neil Gaiman
And Douglas Mackinnon said this on the same call sheet.
"Thank you everyone for completing this marathon shoot. It is hard to believe that principal photography is over. 109 days of Good Omens. To the UK crew that have seen it through all the days I'd give you medals and a place in heaven if could if it wasn't or the fact I don't believe in hierarchy or heaven. So delight at your work will have to do. To the UK crew that didn't come with us if you are listening we missed you here. To the SA crew you have delighted and surprised us on a daily basis. Thank you all!"
March also saw the announcement of a surprise guest star in Nick Offerman.
Currently it looks like we will get this on Amazon Prime as of Feb / March 2019 with the UK BBC showing it fairly rapidly afterwards.
It will feature six, one hour episodes.
Neil Gaiman has gone on record to confirm that the series is very much a Good Omens Plus as many of the scenarios that Terry and himself discussed for a sequel to the book have made it into the series.
[I hope the powers that be make the scripts available to buy in book form so we can all read the extra bits! - Rachel]
There is also hints of it coming out as a boxset on DVD and Blu-Ray.
As soon as we know more on release dates, we will let you all know via our social media channels and the newsletter.

Huh, the outfits look less bad than the set photos. I'm digging it, honestly. (Also, "I don't even like you!" "You do." )
they're gonna find intelligent life up there on the moon/and the canterbury tales will shoot up to the top of the best-seller listI'm looking forward to this quite a bit as Good Omens is one of my favorite books and this has been one of those projects that's been in development hell for like a quarter century. Also I like David Tennant in just about everything.
The series will premier on Amazon Prime on 31st May
No news as to a BBC showing as yet as far as I am aware though
The month after as I recall
