Lugaid: "...Fired? Fired? You asked us to form this group..."

Grunt: "He's been a bit weird lately. Froze the banking account for my child's university..."

Lugaid: "...Ah? Come on you can't be serious!" — swings his leg at the Boss's chair, hitting it more or less violently.

The leaders of Team Magma and Aqua have been revealed to have been androids controlled by Rotom all along, Tagg finally caught those Pokémon that have been following him around and a few more loose ends are slowly being tied up.

Sierra: I think so. The Team Magma leader was acting kind of weird when I spoke to him on the phone though. For some reason, he requested that we transfer all our money to his bank account... I have no idea what that was about.

Vyvyan: <I wouldn't "Resign" until they stop asking us to transfer our money to their bank accounts. It sounds like that Unovan Royalty scam all over again.>

Mt. Pyre - One Day ago...

A very, VERY frightened Dragonite flies out of the entrance to Charon's Base, the volcano below shuddering violently as it moves ever closing to erupting.

Stratus — <EEEEEEEEEP!!! What do I do? WHAT DO I DO?!>

??? — <STRATUS!>

Hearing a familiar voice, Stratus glances up to see a certain legendary descend and land next to him, looking rather relieved to see that he's okay.

Stratus — <RAYQUAZA! Charon! He...he did something, and now the whole volcano's going to blow up!>

Rayquaza — Nods. <I know...And unless we don't do something soon...>

Stratus — <...All of Poképan will be gone...>

The two stare at each other briefly, before Rayquaza turns away, letting out a sigh.

Rayquaza — <I think we both no what has to be done...>

Stratus — <What? No! You...you can't!>

The Dragonite flaps his wings and flies around to Rayquaza's front, hovering at his eye level.

<There has to be some other way! Surely?!>

As if to answer his question, part of the mountain nearby bursts open, releasing a small stream of scorching hot magma, giving the two dragons a shock.

<Yikes!>

Rayquaza — <...I'm sorry...>

The legendary lowers his head, a sad look crossing his face.

<This is the only way...>

Stratus begins to quiver, his eyes filling with tears.

Stratus — <But you can't...I...> Sniffs. <I don't want you to die...>

He raises his arm and wipes his eyes, on the verge of breaking down completely.

<...You're my friend, Rayquaza...>

Rayquaza stares at Stratus glumly, his eyes beginning to water in sadness.

Rayquaza — <...And you're my friend too, Stratus...>

He raises a claw, patting the crying Dragonite on the shoulder.

<...Thanks for being friends with me. You've...you've made my last few days in this life really memorable...>

Rayquaza sniffs, a few more tears leaking from his eyes.

<And even though you'll probably be long gone when I'm reborn anew...I'll always remember you...>

Stratus — Sniffs. <...And I'll always remember you, too...>

The two say nothing for the next few moments, simply trying to make the precious time they have left just a little bit longer...That is, until the volcano lurches violently again, moving every closer to erupting and snapping the two out of their stupor.

Rayquaza — <Okay, quick! Stratus! You have to get out of here!>

Stratus — Blinks. <But...where do I go?!>

Rayquaza — Shakes his head. <Just go! Find your trainer if you can! Just do what it takes to get the both of you as far away from Poképan as possible! You're a Dragonite, remember?!>

Stratus — <...>

Rayquaza — <Just...do whatever it takes, Stratus! You...you have to get out...you have to survive!

...Promise me that...okay?>

Stratus nods silently, tears streaming down his face.

Stratus — <...I promise...>

The Dragonite turns to fly away towards Sootopolis, hopefully to find his trainer and the others so that they can escape in time, then stops and gives one Rayquaza one last look.

<...Goodbye.>

And with that, he flaps his wings and flies into the air, before speeding off at Sootopolis at a blinding speed, Rayquaza watching him go until the Dragon Pokémon is nothing more than a dot on the horizon.

Rayquaza — <<...Farewell, Stratus.>

The legendary Pokémon lets a few more tears leak from his eyes, then quickly flies off to assist his brethren in calming the volcano down.

The Camerupt turns around and fires a Flamethrower right at the door, heating it almost to the red. Then she buffs and walks up to the Rotom.

-amidst the crowds of people noisily returning to their homes, the two narrators and Artesia meet at the crossroads of the city.-

Narrator: Well, I for one am relieved that we didn't need to do anything dangerous in the end.

Artesia: "I ended up blowing up a few large rocks before coming back here to get rid of the electricity."

I suppose as long as it doesn't endanger anyone, it's fine.

Artesia: "Anyone know where he is?"

Who? Mr. Deikun?

Artesia: "...yeah. I guess that's how he's usually addressed."

Narrator: You don't seem to have that scorn for him so much anymore. Did something happen over your radio conversation?

Artesia: "N-no! Of course not! Aha-ha-ha! What kind of silly thoughts do you have inside your head? Eh-heh...Well, I'm going to be at the Pokémon Center if you need me."

-Artesia leaves the two narrators behind-

-Wally's Narrator grabs Artesia's narrator's shirt collar-

Casval: "Hey, Quale...Ryouma...we didn't do anything this time around. It's somewhat frustrating, despite everything being resolved..."

Casval: "I've been so occupied lately, I haven't given it any thought as to what I'm supposed to be doing. Now, when I don't have anything to do, I really have to ask myself. Where have I changed the world? Lord N, he was supposed to be a hero. Even after he failed, he went on to change his life for the better and found another way to help Pokémon...I feel so empty."

Quale: <Squirtle-squirtle!>

I shake my head, turning towards my Pokémon, who are sitting nearby with me in the now deserted Pokémon Center, the vast majority of the residents of Sootopolis having already fled by Boat or Flying Pokémon.

Woolly — <So...there's nothing we can do?>

I shake my head glumly.

"It doesn't look like it..."

Lake stands up, a desperate look on his face.

Lake — <Surely there has to be something, anything we can do?> Glances at the others. <Can't one of us go into the Dream World and find Guardé? He could teleport us somewhere safe...>

Comet shakes her head.

Comet <That won't work. Guardé's still awake due to...> Grimaces. <Urk, timezones. All my hate...>

Lake frowns, looking increasingly desperate.

Lake — <No, there's got to be another way. It...it can't end here...not like this.>

The Feraligatr collapses, his eyes beginning to water.

<...I...I don't even get to say goodbye to...>

It's at this point that he completely breaks down, burying his head in the floor tiles.

<...Nadia...> Sobs. <I'm sorry! I...> Sobs. <...I couldn't save you...>

Trying to keep a level head despite the situation, Treeo goes over to Lake, patting him gently on the back.

Treeo — <It's okay, let it all out...>

Woolly, also about to lose he significant other, sniffles too, raising a flipper to wipe a few tears from her eyes.

Woolly — <Unite...It's been so long since we were last together...> Sniffs. <I...I wish I could've spent more time with him...>

The Ampharos lowers her head, a few more tears leaking from her eyes. Treeo glances at her, then lowers his head himself, also looking glum.

Treeo — <...I hope Harriet's okay. At least...at least she, Copahue and Shahinne might have a chance to run. If anyone deserves to survive this, it's them.>

The Sceptile shuts his eyes tight, blinking a few tears away. Nearby, Comet sighs, exhaling a cloud of smoke.

Comet: — <...I guess we all have somemon. Even me...> Glances at the others. <I...I didn't really have any friends before I met you guys. Well, I did, but...> Frowns. <...Anyway, I may not have a mate or a crush like you guys, but...at least I'm not alone...>

She pauses, rubbing the back of her neck with her claw.

<...And I'm thankful for that. Really...>

Woolly and Treeo gaze at Comet for a few seconds, then give her a smile, even Lake pauses from crying for a few moments to flash her a small grin.

Treeo — Sighs. <You're right, Comet. We may be about to die...but at least we're all together, no?>

Lake — Stops crying, sniffling. <Apart from Stratus...> Sniffs. <I just hope he's okay, wherever he is...>

Lake pauses, not noticing something knock on the door nearby.

??? — <Hello? Anymon there?>

Lake — <I swear...I can hear his voice so vividly in my head...>

??? — Knocks again. <Hellooooo? Does anymon in there need rescuing?>

Lake — Sniffles. <It's almost as if...he's right outside right now...>

The Feraligatr pauses, only just now having taken in the voice at the door.

<...Is that?>

Treeo quickly sprints over the door, grabbing hold of it and pulling it open, allowing a certain Dragonite to fly in.

Stratus — <Guys! There you are! I've been looking all over for- WHOA!>

To his surprise, Stratus is suddenly tackleglomped by a certain Feraligatr.

Lake — <STRATUS! You're okay!>

Stratus — <Yeah, sorry for worrying you- oh!>

Another Pokémon joins the pile, this one an Ampharos.

Woolly — Bleats happily. <I knew you'd be okay, Stratus! I just knew it!>

Treeo — Smiles. <Glad to see you're okay, Stratus.>

Comet — Grins. <Same here...>

Also smiles. "And here, too. Arceus. I never say anything anymore." ¬_¬

Stratus — <...Thanks, guys...>

Lilycove

- Volcarona eventually drops Anom off in Lilycove (not literally), and decides to return to her pokeball until the plot calls for her again -

- I notice him, and I go over to talk to him, although any on-screen interaction with him will probably have to wait until tomorrow at the very least -

Stratus wiggles his way out of the cuddlepile, pulling himself up.

<I appreciate the hugs, but I came to get you out of here, and we really need to get going!>

Lake — <You...you can save us?>

"Oh, of course! Dragonite can fly around the world in a matter of hours!"

Treeo — <Then, maybe if we're lucky...>

Stratus — Nods. <With any luck, I may...> Pauses, shaking his head. <No, I have to get us out of here alive. I...I promised him...>

Woolly — Tilts her head. <...Promised who?>

Stratus — <...That's not important, we just need to get out of here. Now!>

Comet Nods. <As much as I'd hate to miss this...we should really get back in our balls.

"Quite right, Comet."

I quickly recall Comet, Woolly and Treeo.

Lake — <You should recall me too...I'll only slow Stratus down, and we need all the speed we can get right now.>

"...Okay, Lake."

I reach into my bag and pull out Lake's Pokéball, which I've kept, just in case.

Stratus — <...See you later, Lake. I...I'll get you guys to safety, I promise.>

Lake: — <...> Smiles. <I know you will, Stratus.>

The Dragonite smiles back as I recall Lake. We then quickly head outside, the Dragonite bending down to let me climb onto his back.

Stratus: — <Are you ready?>

"Ready."

[Stratus — Nods. <Then let's go...>

The Dragonite flaps his wings, beginning to hover in the air.

<Let's go and live...for Rayquaza.>

Then, with a determined expression on his face, the dragon flies into the air, then soars away at high speed out to sea, heading away from Hoenn, and hopefully to safety...

<Argh! Why am I not an Extremespeed Dragonite?> >_<
