(Well, Simon's laughing, anyway. Several streets away, Belinda just stares in utter incredulity.)

Belinda: Jason what are you doing

Wilhelm: Oh, don't be like that! Menial tasks are exceptionally character-building!

(He glances away from Dylan and at the door behind him.)

Wilhelm: Any updates on the prisoners?

NI HQ, Pokeball Storage

(The room is full of Pokeballs on shelves, all of them held fast by tight metal clamps. The exception is Hugo's ball, which has had its clamp lifted so he can be released. Standing in front of Hugo is a Ninetales, his fur dull and matted with age and his grey, glazed eyes staring blankly through Hugo rather than at him.)

Elagabalus: <...huh. Y'all must be one of the captives.>

-He glares-

DS: (seeming to be deep in thought) Hmm... I know I said that a part of me missed travelling with the others, and at the time, I really did mean it, but... what purpose does my character even serve in the plot at this point? My writer just doesn't seem to know what to do with me... I suppose there's not that much to do with my character anymore, aside from perhaps giving some closure to my character arc, or whatever...

- She glances over at Linnéa/Ray -

DS: But there's also those two... Is it okay to just leave them like this?

- She sighs -

DS: So many unresolved plot points...

My fanfic

Well not exactly Christmas-y, unless you count the gift of attempting to resolve plots in a timely manner, but here's another condensed solo plot post! Hopefully it's not too huge of a wall of text for people

Once the group from the grasslands has returned to the village, they find out that Ignia has been busy talking to King and Jack, her sort of jailers, and explained what she knows of the Doctor's plans. "Blitz" immediately sets on making plans to hatch the viable 'Sky dragon' egg in the Egg Corridor so the group can escape to the surface, but Dr Booster reveals that the Doctor has already located the seeds to a breed of red berries unique to these caverns and plans to use them to power up the members of the Mimiga tribe he's already captured to use as soldiers, at the cost of the Mimiga's sanity. "Blitz's" immediate concern turns toward whether the human turned Darumaka patterned Mimiga, Ignia, would also be affected by the berries. Doctor Booster then addresses the fact that nobody in the group of scientists and children is cut out for combat, and with the Mimiga apparently preferring to stay as far away from the Doctor as possible, that leaves only one option...

He points out the gear Tori carries^note (Especially a metal brick with a heart-shaped stamp on it that she'd been using as a belt buckle, but is in fact a personal force field generator) and his belief that she is, in fact, a soldier sent into the caves some time in the past and now suffering amnesia. Despite Tori's claims to the contrary based on her memories of home, Dr Booster insists that she's the only one there that might have a chance of going through the Sand Zone to get to the berry seeds before and destroy them before the Doctor can act on his plans for war and domination. She concedes on that point and sets out alone through the teleporter.

Once arriving Tori finds that the Sand Zone is aptly named, being a large subterranean desert with few immediate signs of life beyond some annoying Flygon. And a human figure the retreats as soon as she rounds a corner. Curious she explores in that direction to find a door built into the sandstone-like wall of the cavern

-Inside the room that looks something like a bar in the desert is a red haired young man with glasses, and 3 young Mimiga tribe Buneary. All 4 of them turn as Tori enters-

Lane(?): "....You... Look familiar"

Tori: -!-

"Lane! You recognize me? What are you doing here?"

Lane(?): "Yeah..."

-Pulls out a red gun-

"You're another butcher from the surface, here to kill these Mimiga, aren't you?!"

Tori: "Ah- wait what?!"

Lane(?): "I won't let you hurt these kids!"

.........

After a brief duel between a girl with a zappy pistol, and a boy with a zappy machine-gun, and a few attempted assists by the kids, Tori is able to wear them out enough to explain that she DIDN'T come to kill anyone. Though "Lane" doesn't quite believe her story about how she got to the caves, he concedes that soldier or not, Tori is a friend. Unfortunately "Lane" has no hints about berry seeds, but suggests Tori look for an old woman named Jenka, something of a witch in the Sand Zone who keeps to herself.

Tori decides to do so. And after another encounter with "Maria" resulting in a battle with a mechanical Golem, she opens the way and finds a small house sitting in a secluded corner of the desert-cavern. Jenka nearly refuses to talk to Tori at all once she mentions looking for the berry seeds, and instead complains about her arthritis preventing her from searching for her missing puppies.

With the old woman refusing to cooperate, Tori explores some more before returning to visit "Lane", who mentions a dog that kept visiting and was currently hanging out in the bedroom and might belong to Jenka. Another walk through the desert reveals that yes, she recognizes the Lilipup. And while feeding the dog starts talking to it about a time in the past when other soldiers came from the surface... and how there were 4 other puppies missing. One other was hiding in a chest in a hidden passageway, another lilipup insisted on riding on Tori's head was found in an extremely dark abandoned house with a Trapinch infestation, a third Tori on a merry chase through the desert until she found a way to corner it, and the last was simply napping on a secluded sand dune.

With each returned Lilipup Jenka revealed a bit more. Some time ago, humans seeking an object known as the Demon Crown came and attacked, some out of a desire for power, some in fear of what others would use that power for, but both saw the Mimiga as a threat. In response, the normally peacful mon used the red berries to strengthen themselves and fight back, even at the cost of their sanity and lives. The outsiders were driven back at a terrible cost, but the caves once again knew peace. With four dogs returned and the story completed, Jenka addressed Tori directly and insisted she could not let anyone have the key to the seed storage shed for fear of their misuse, and fear that one day the Mimiga may need to protect themselves again. Jenka then identifies Tori as not being from the caves or a soldier from the surface as others believed, but a visitor to this world.

Tori returned again with the fifth and final lilipup only to find "Stark" fleeing Jenka's house. Jenka told Tori that he'd taken the key and, barely pausing long enough for the old woman to give her something, Tori chased the mon.

Inside a shed a blue haired man in a lab coat wearing a peculiar crown inspects the contents of the shed, and on discovering some of the preserved seeds took root in a cracked portion of the floor and were already bearing red berries that seemed to static slightly out of the corner of one's eye, "Maria" suggested using a captive Mimiga to test them out. The Doctor agrees, and Maria teleports Tokoro into the shed, who immediately runs before she's restrained by "Stark" who then tries to force feed her. King arrives to drive Stark off with a sword, and enraged charges after the Doctor, but is blasted into a wall by a thunderbolt before he can close the distance.

Tori arrives in time to watch the Mimiga's landing, and for the Doctor to tell her to enjoy his gift just before disappearing himself. Suddenly, Toroko is transformed into Mega^* Mimiga-Lopunny!Toroko, and attacks Tori in a blind rage. Tori fights back, and after a fierce battle Toroko reverts to her normal Mimiga-buneary state, collapses... And won't wake back up.

The critically injured King curses the Doctor and asks Tori to take up his sword before he passes. Tori refuses and insists King can help her stop the Doctor himself, if he'll let her help him. King hesitantly agrees, and Tori uses the Heal Ball Jenka gave her on King. With the now occupied ball in tow, Tori leaves the shed to report to the others... Only to be ambushed by "Stark" as she leaves and teleported away by "Maria"

Wilhelm: All stable, then. We're about to have the first of what I hope will be many friendly and productive chit-chats, so be prepared for an influx of reinforcements.

NI HQ, Pokeball Storage

(Elagabalus smiles softly, his eyes still never properly focusing on Hugo.)

Elagabalus: <Name's Elagabalus, kid. Yeah, I'm with these guys, but... honestly, I wouldn't be if I could help it. Boss-man sent me in here - said somethin' about "makin' a positive impression", which sounds better than usual by me.>

-F!Blitz is sitting in her fluffy winter pajamas holding a controller plugged into her laptop clicking buttons when Ammon the Arcanine pads up behind her-

-Beat-

Ammon: <...Weren't you going to go our and visit people for Christmas?>

F!Blitz: -Continues playing-

"Well... Yeah. But I haven't heard anything about a party or anything just that people were here... And I've still got time after checking this new game out"

-Ammon raises an eyebrow and makes a slight woof-ish noise-

"Come on, look at this game, It's a beautiful work of art! See how smooth the animation is? And the way the fore and background play into the scene? And how they use light and shadow? And listen to the music! I've never seen a 2D game -"

-Blitz's excited chatter about a blind forest is interrupted by a flump outside the first floor window-

-A confused look between mon and trainer, a paused game, and Blitz is sticking her head out the window in curiosity-

Resort Area-Blitz's room

-Window rattle-

-Beat-

-A robo hand opens it-

-A Jason flumps in-

Jason:Friggin' Scythers...

-A bag flumps in-

Meeeeeeerry Christmaaaaaaaasssssssss

-Before the window can be opened by Blitz, it's opened and entered by Jason!-

F!Blitz: "Oh! Hey Jason, what are you doing with scyther out in this weather?"

-Ammon sits and wagwags while Jason digs in the Christmas bag-

"You got a breeder an egg?"

-Blitz takes the incubator with an amused chuckle-

"Cool! You gonna tell me what kind it is, or do I need to guess?"

The GM House

-Ludmilla rapidly flips through the book on her desk as fast as she can. She nearly tears some of the pages.-

Dune: Jaskier, what are you doing?

Ludmilla: Names.

Dune: Heh. You're "doing names"?

-Ludmilla points at the Pichu and little red fruit - since identified as a "Bounsweet" - asleep on a pile of pillows, curled up together.-

Ludmilla: Names, for them. Boy and girl.

-Dune leans against the desk and crosses his arms, a look on his face.-

Dune: I think I have one you can use.

Ludmilla: Huh?

Dune: Well, you wanna know what other names I'd thought up for you?

-Ludmilla's eyes go wide before she nods.-

Dune: Anastasia.

-Ludmilla blinks. Her face screws up for a moment of thought. Dune chuckles as he stands straight and starts heading out of the room.-

Dune: Spelled: A-N-A-S-T...

-Ludmilla quickly flips back through her book looking for any reference for that name as Dune saunters his way out of the room, feeling quite proud of himself.-

Jason:Well, it was back in Kalos...I rememebred a favor a guy owed me after...soooomething can't remember. But anyway. I called him and he sent me this egg over. Cool dude, eh?

-A Pikachu appears on top of the Ammon's head-

Pikachu!Zero:<'m oon topa the woooooorld~>

F!Blitz: "A Kalos mon, eh?"

-Blitz grins-

"Very cool! I'll have to look forward to seeing when this little one hatches"

-Ammon gives a little woof of surprise at the sudden 'chu and turns head to try and see it-

Ammon <Hey- who?>

-Scheherezade is in a hotel lobby, discussing Overwatch with Dunyazade and Shahryar.-

-Siobhan and her girlfriend are both trying to start a snowball fight. It's not working so far, much to their dismay.-

-Either may be interacted with.-

Elagabalus: <Stop sayin' things I tried to tell the boss myself, kid. It ain't gonna get you nowhere.>

(The old Ninetales sighs deeply.)

Elagabalus: <Your trainer is bein' kept in Arahat's warehouse with the other prisoners. All the boss guarantees is that he's safe, which don't mean a damn thing.>
