Out materialized Kaen, and upon feeling the biting air, quickly flapped his wings- for a fire-type, he had an intolerance for the cold. Even so, the company of Homura was valuable to him- it was a win-lose situation, in many cases. Trying to perch himself on her shoulder, the thick winter coat she wore made his little descent better than any snow-covered ground he could've landed on. "Here's my Talonflame- I've not had Pokemon for too long, but he's a worthwhile companion of mine." Kaen chirped, albeit with a shivery tone.

Pokemon can understand their Trainers just fine, but Trainers usually can't understand Pokemon except for general expression-interpreting. The armbands that Keys mentioned here can give Trainers the ability to understand Monese perfectly, though.

Kaen shifts on his perch, still trying to warm himself up in the process. Cooing gently, he himself tries to keep some semblance of that stoic attitude he's known for. Although, being called Ms. pretty Firebird wasn't exactly the best thing to happen to him. Homura comes to the rescue, however. "Mr. Pretty Firebird, to be exact. But he's pretty handsome, isn't he?" Homura smirks, while Kaen glances back at her, as if he were rolling his eyes. "but.. are you sure you can be out here? There's gang members hanging around here, y'know..

Oh, gotcha. I did read that, I just didn't cross my mind at the moment. Thanks again, though!

Sergey and Team can be seen walking through the city, well Mireille and Mistral anyway, Magnus was chasing Aicha around in the general area and the familiar silhouette of an Absol could again be seen in the distance.

Also Psycho-type Pokémon can communicate via telepathy with the trainers.

Looking back towards the entrance, she just hoped they wouldn't cause any trouble- she had her fair share of knowledge on these roaming gangs- Magma, Aqua, Galactic, Rocket.. all having their own cause for evil. She never fully integrated herself in stopping them, but she wasn't about to let someone like Iggy fall victim. "Unfortunately, I can't stay here all day- I don't normally stay in one place for too long. Perhaps this where we say bye, for now." Kaen was personally glad- he wasn't too fond of the big city himself.

Hello, readers. I'd like to show you all something. Maybe it happened a few days ago, maybe it happened an hour ago. Perhaps it's happening right now, as we speak, and perhaps it'll happen in the near future. Possibly, it didn't happen at all, has never happened, and never will happen. It is inconsequential.

A Lake in Sinnoh

-a small wooden boat has floated into the center of the lake. It has no oars, no paint, and it barely fits the two occupants, seated across from each other. Those two occupants, of course, are Joseph and Munn. They stare at each other, faces perfect pictures of passiveness and apathy. The soft waves and ripples of the lake splash against the boat, rocking it gently. All is silent, save for the water and the distant call of a bird Pokemon. Neither Joseph nor Munn has spoken a word in nine hours-

-finally, as though he had only spoken a second ago, Joseph opens his mouth-

Joseph: What have you imagined?

-his voice is flat and affectless. It sounds like a broken flute. Munn responds, his own voice dull and dusty-

Munn: I have imagined breaking eleven biscuits into small pieces, pouring it into a dog bowl and eating messily and greedily, butter and crumbs serving as my new skin.

-another silence that seems to go on for entirely too long. The bird calls become more distant-

Joseph: I see. I have imagined crawling across the ground without my arms and legs, slowly inching my way across the dirty, painful ground like a Shellos across a razor blade.

-they sit in silence again. The sounds grow muted. A twig floats by the boat, unnoticed by the two of them-

(One of the grunts - a female, specifically - yells back to Scheherazade, though she doesn't drop her hood.)

Grunt: We wanna leave this city and get back to base, that's what! Now let us past!

-A certain pink-haired, blue-eyed human wearing spectacles walks into an office filled with books and papers, with a desk and laptop amid it all. -

-He quickly bolts several locks on the door, transforms into a Mew, and hovers over to the laptop, opening and booting it up telekinetically-

Bartelby: <All those book signings... You wouldn't expect something like that to still be exhausting for me at this point...>

-He pauses, looks over to a bookshelf, then pulls out a strangely old-looking book with a Pokeball symbol gracing the cover out with telekenisis and tenderly sets it next to the laptop.-

<...But that doesn't matter. Today's the day. And it's a day where I finally say what I've wanted to for a long time.>

-He telekinetically opens something on the laptop and starts typing away.-

-Bartelby Hermans again here. And... Today I have a confession to make.-

-I am best known as a writer of romance stories, and have been my entire career. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy writing them! It's actually something I like doing, it's what many people want to read and enjoy, and thus it's become my niche...-

-...But I must now admit the nice of romance specifically is one I've grown uncomfortable with.-

-Why? You see, while romantic love is still beautiful and powerful, it's not the ultimate form of love everyone makes it out to be, and that's a perception I worry I spread even if I enjoy writing it. It doesn't help not much attention has been called to my attempts to portray the wider aspects of love - for you see, there is far more to love than one spectrum of it loosely tied to sexual attraction...-

-With romantic love specifically, it starts out strong but then inevitably grows more subdued, and it takes genuine dedication and respect for one another to keep it going...-

-Umbra and Ammy are going through some remaining paperwork for the wedding-

Human!Ammy: Geez... Humans have a lot of stuff they've got to do to get together...

Umbra: To be fair, there weren't as many laws about it back in my time.

Human!Ammy: Did that make it better or worse?

Umbra: It... varied.

Human!Ammy: ...Figured.

-groans and rests her head on the desk they're working at-

...But this is still boring and I'm tired.

Umbra: -sighs- Trust me, the feeling's mutual...

Human!Ammy: -picks her head back up-

Though I still want to get to... Our moment. The one we've been getting together all this time... I don't know, it just feels like something's incomplete right now...

Umbra: ...

-puts a hand on Ammy's shoulder-

Ammy. In the end this is all just a formality. With what we've been through together I care about you immensely regardless of the road to it being "official" having its frustrating spots. We've been through far' worse.

Human!Ammy: ...

-looks up at him and smiles-

...Thanks, Umbra.

-Umbra smiles back and then thinks, smirking-

Umbra: ...Say... I think I know how we can take a load off...

Human!Ammy: ...Oh?

Umbra: Well you got that Beedrillite for Nyuki a while back you haven't used... And Styx got a Sablenite she's wanted to try...

Styx: -pops out of nowhere waving the Sablenite in one of her claws- <Someone mention giving this baby a test run?>

Nyuki: -likewise with the Beedrillite attached to her thorax- <I could use a boost in more ways than one.>

Human!Ammy: -smirks back- All for it.

-...As well as camaraderie.-

-All four go outside and get into battle positions as Umbra and Ammy touch their Key Stones-

Umbra: In the name of Giratina!

Human!Ammy: By the power of the sun!

-Styx and Nyuki are both enveloped in cocoons and emerge as a Mega Sableye and Mega Beedrill, respectively-

Mega!Styx: <Hah! You think those oversized spears of yours can get through this shield of mine?>

Mega!Nyuki: <These blades are not to be underestimated! That glorified rock's not gonna save you!>

-They volley away-

Ark of Yamato, this morning

-Shared interests can keep lovers together as well...-

-Arika and Chrome are playing Super Smash Bros. -

Arika: C'mon, c'mon...

Human!Chrome: You've got to do better than tha-

-Suddenly, he stares in shock as his character is K Oed on their last stock-

Lina: -smirks- ...And yet you never worry the same thing with all the romantic partners I've had.

-shifts uncomfortably a bit-

Lina: Sure, it was weird at first... But Chrome. I'm happy you have someone like Arika in your life the way you do. And more importantly I hardly feel edged out.

Chrome: <...Heh, thanks.>

Lina: Though, if it helps...

-scootches over and nestles in between his body and right foreleg-

-Lina smiles back, and the two sit together silently for a while-

Robin: That Glitch... I know the rest of the team's fighting it, but I still worry if it's something powerful enough to corrupt...

-he stops, shakes his head, and sighs-

...I mean, everyone else in Team Umbra wanted to stick in Hoenn because they thought Nico and especially me had a hectic year, but... I don't know...

Sam: <Hey! No problem keeping an eye out for yourself! And if everyone else wants you to, nice bonus!>

-Smiles a bit-

<And hey, you already said whole rest of the team's fighting the thing, right? With people who have taking those things down in the job description! They'll be fine, you don't have to worry about them!>

-Robin thinks a bit-

Robin: I... Guess you're right...

-perks up-

...Actually, I'm confident you're right! I suddenly feel a lot better.

-Looks over to Sam, who is now noticeably more distraught.-

...Sam?

Sam: <...Sorry. Stole your bad mood. Now I'm depressed...>

Robin: ...

...Sam, you're amazing.

Sam: -perks up- <Now no one's said that to me almost ever so that cheered me right up! I mean, the "conivings" and "scoundrels" and stuff are great, but "Amazing?" that's a new one!>

Robin: -smiles- You're welcome.

-pets-

-Sam gives an affectionate nuzzle back-

A seaside Lilycove hangout, now

-But the bond between human and Pokemon partners doesn't just bring the two of them together to care about one another, but humans with humans and Pokemon with Pokemon and all of them combined by association...-

-Team Umbra and several of their mons are having a fun night together, talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's company.-

-...Because... Well, as a good friend of mine put it, "The circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It's what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are."-

-There is a legend of an ancient pact between humans and Pokemon to work with instead of against each other after ages of strife called the Vow... The modern incarnations of Pokeballs are all too fittingly modeled after a nearly-as-ancient symbol of said Vow... Two halves, joined into a whole, with a fuller circle binding them further, reflecting two groups brought together in a way that make both better off with than without each other.-

-So, to all the Trainers of this world - train on. Because humans and Pokemon coming together despite seemingly being as disparate as sun and moon, and having peoplemons of both halves join together in harmony in a myriad of different ways over that initial connection...-

-...That, my friends, is the ultimate love story. And it's one truly beautiful, like no other.-
