I reckon there ought to be a prequel film showing how the Furious Five got together; perhaps even narrated by Po (who seems to know everything about them already). To see how their backstories interconnect would make for a great film, I think.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805I just wanna see more development for the 5, their so cool. Especially Viper and Monkey, they barely get any screentime
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelThat was covered in the short The Legends of the Furious Five, coincidentally shared by Po to a bunch of kids he has to coach. Provided, it only tells each of their individual stories of how they became masters, not how they became friends together.
Well, all the more reason to expand.
Switch FC code: SW-4420-1809-1805Did you watch it, at least?
I always thought they were heard by Shifu and made them his students.
I loved the movie, and I can say without reservation that it was just as good, if not better, than the original. The visuals were stunning, Lord Shen was a great villain, and Po's struggle for inner peace was a great step up from his rise to being Dragon Warrior. My only disappointment, however, was the lack of development for four of the Five, though we did get to see more of the personalities. (I especially liked Mantis in this one.)
But what impressed me the most was the way Tigress and Po's relationship was handled. By showing how close the two were getting without ending in a full-fledged romance, Dreamworks has done something rarely seen in movies these days. In most movies, any hint of romance will be wrapped up by the end whether by Love at First Sight or a Falling-in-Love Montage. In this movie, the relationship is being allowed to develop much more naturally, and when/if it leads to bigger things it will have that much more emotional depth to it, not to mention it shows how confident Dreamworks is with this franchise.
I saw this movie with the rest of my Kung Fu class the week it came out and, having seen the original film, I suffered from the typical uncertainty that most people have when going to see a sequel for a film they really liked.
That uncertainty turned out to be for nothing.
I LOVED "Kung Fu Panda 2". I personally think it was better than the original. The plot was great, the villain was excellent, and Tigress got more screentime and character development. (Which is important to me because she's my favorite character. C: ) The only thing that I didn't like about the film was the Sequel Hook where it reveals that Po's real father is still alive...right after Po announces that he considers Mr. Ping (who is hilarious as always) to be his real dad. That just felt kind of unnecessary and badly timed. Overall though, I loved it. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD.
I finally got around to seeing it today!
I loved it! I'd say it is just as good as the original. I loved the animation and 3D (especially in the 2D sequences)! Shen was a pretty good villian and I liked Po's story.
Am I the only one whose personal interpretation of the prophecy is that the "warrior in black and white" (or however it's worded) was Shen himself?
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsNo, you aren't the only one who thought that.
I still think Po/Viper would be a better pairing.

However, I think this should fall under Epileptic Trees or a similar trope (If it doesn't already)
I saw the film recently, and I have to say, Gary Oldman played the villain perfectly. You have the trademark evil gloating, but also the slightly insane sounding 'Good-bye~' before Shen blasts Po with a cannon which I love hearing. He also did the comedy bits well (""Will you STOP that?!"). All in all, a great film, and I hope there's a Kung Fu Panda 3.
Favourite moment? Anything between Shen and the Fortune Teller. "If you follow the path you're on, you will end up... at the bottom of the steps."

Inspirational quote against powerful image of nature. This movie feel kinda ...meh to me. The climax with Po catching and throwing cannonballs is just stupid. How did those cannons threaten "Kungfu" again? I can understand him redirect the shots but he actually caught some of them in his hand and threw back... and earlier he blocked a cannon shot with a frying pan and got off with some light burns which doesn't even seem to singed his fur... and all those talks of "Inner Peace" and "Kung-fu"...and the slapstick humor, yeah, Po is fat, I got it, you don't have to make his belly audibly bounce every other scene... and hard work mean shit if you are not a big fat stupid panda chosen by fate (I know this trope is everywhere but Po as a Main Character is just urgh to me)...
Let's just say this movie bugged the hell out of me. Got some great moments though, the flashback is really touching but again I'm a sucker for sad flashback anyway.
I have to admit, I never thought I like this movie but it surpassed my expectations even if there a few wall bangers here and there. I enjoyed the movie immensely.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."The cannonballs threatened kung fu because they could wipe out China and a new China without kung fu would be created by the peacock. It's not that complex.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Is it wrong that I felt a LOT of sympathy for Shen? Maybe even more than I did for Tai Long?
Not enough for me to want him to win, don't get me wrong, but part of me just wanted him to be happy in the end.
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelWell, his parents never loved him. So, I guess you're not the only one.
His parents DID love him though. He just THOUGHT they never did

"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelReally? Well, our page for the film states that his parents were ashamed of his albinism.
Either way, he's a sympathetic villain. Not hard to see why one would want to see him happy.

According to the film, the trauma of having to send him away is what KILLED his parents
It's just some people label him as a Complete Monster that's all. I didn't know what the consensus about him was

"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelBUT HE IS.
Was that a joke or were you being serious? I honestly don't know
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelThe albino thing was actually a previous idea scrapped.
I just came back a few minutes ago from seeing it with my dad. So far, I was impressed with it(and a bit surprised that I enjoyed it as well). So far, I think my friend was right. Dreamworks animation has finally decided to take advice from Pixar and focus on storylines and characters. If Dreamworks can keep up their movies with good storylines and characters, I'd be seeing them more often!
I even got a big kick out of the hand-drawn animation that was used in this movie. A few teenagers at the theater I saw it at had a few teens commenting on how the animation was similar to a certain samurai.
