Transexual people If I understand correctly , feel that they were born in the wrong sex. Now for you to know that you were born in the wrong sex, you need to have had already experienced the "right" one. In order to know that the genere you we're born isn't the right one.Otherwise changing gender would be an arbitrary desition. And not an operation to put you in the "right" gender.

My question is how do you know you were born in the wrong gender?.Do transsexuals believe in recarnation?

Please don't misunderstand my intentions , It's not attack just a question I've always had. Just being curious.

There is so much stuff that you are assuming that is so incorrect.

First of all, transgendered people run a very large gamut. Some are male and want to be female, others are female and want to be male. Some people want to be both male and female, others want to be neither male nor female, and still others want to be some "other" gender. The last of those probably being the hardest to explain.

As for your assertion that, to know something is wrong, you've had to experience the right thing before, that's just not true.

And transsexuality isn't a religion. While doubtless, some transpeople do believe in reincarnation, their gender identity isn't why.

^ don't misunderstand it. this isn't an atack just me being curious.

If you have never experienced the "right" gender them how you can you objectively know you aren't in the right one ?. The only possible way seems to me to be reincarnation.

You can't objectively "know", but that holds true for a lot of things.

Then is it a choice? ( sorry if I am being rude, I have always had this question)

Not really (important to note here, even if it was, this wouldn't matter in my view, but moving on)

It's difficult to explain without resorting to romanticizing and stupid metaphors.

Can someone help me out here, please? I'm drawing a blank.

To use a  *

tortured analogy here, consider gender sa a multiple choice question. Even if you don't know what the right answer is, you often know which one of the choices is the wrong answer.

To put it simply:

I know because the masculine, not the feminine, aspects of my body and my gender role are the ones that disgust me and cause me so much pain, and because when I think of myself as, dress as, and am seen as a woman, my suffering significantly decreases. It's a euphoric experience, as opposed to the usual dysphoria.

"If you have never experienced the "right" gender them how you can you objectively know you aren't in the right one?"

It's obvious to me how you can know something's 'wrong' even though you've never experienced any different. I had two older foster siblings who sexually abused me. I didn't know that was inappropriate behavior for older siblings, because they were (and are) the only older siblings I'd ever had. But I knew that it scared me and made me feel uncomfortable, and that I wanted something different.

It can be tricky, in that kind of situation, to pinpoint exactly what's wrong and how to fix it, but you certainly know that something's wrong, because you're in pain. And you get guided to the solution by discovering what hurts less.

I have no idea if being transsexual feels anything like this, though.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

^ yeah but you were treated right by other people( and experienced being treated right), that's why you know it wasn't right.^^ That seems interesting thanks !

[up]Not really, in the sense that Ettina didn't have older siblings who didn't do that. The only older siblings she had did those things, and she knew that was wrong.

Once you know something is wrong, then that is to be gotten away from. Other options might also be wrong, but the key word there is "might". They could also be right.

With the transgendered, they don't necessarily know that the other gender is the right one (as Spain Sun said, sometimes no gender, both genders, or a third gender which unfortunately doesn't exist would be the right one) but they do know the one they're in now is wrong for them. Therefore, escaping it is important.

Honest question, is the above correct or am I just rambling bullshit? I'm not transgendered so don't have first hand experience of this.

I have a  *

related question: If someone genuinely feels they should be both genders (or neither), is it legal to perform those surgeries to alter them into the non-standard form?

^That I don't know the legality of, but I do know it would be even harder to perform in a medical sense.

Miijhal Since: Jul, 2011

It's certainly legal. That said...

To transition (Which involves more than just surgery), one generally needs a psychologist's and an endocrinologist's permission. Which will be harder to get. That said, it's generally accepted that a full transition isn't for all transgendered individuals, and many may only, say, get the hormone treatments and skip the surgeries.

Oh, and for biologically male individuals, getting an orchiectomy instead of SRS isn't terribly uncommon.

First of all, separate gender and sex. We were always x gender, even if we are y sex. And it's easy to tell it's wrong. It feels bad. You don't need to believe in souls or anything to understand that. Thinking about being x sex mkes y to x transsexual people feel normal compared to how they feel now.

Note to others: he specified "transsexual" people. There really ia no reason to bring up non-binary, non-transitioning transgendered people.

@Blue Ninja: not in most places. UK is an exception.

Are there F to M transsexuals on this forum too? There are quite a few M to F, but I never got to see/talk to any people who migrated away from the strains of being female.
