Problem - if we rework this into Shapeshifter Romance, is that too similar to Shapeshifting Lover?

So are we going to set up an alt names crowner?

We haven't technically voted to rename yet.

Okay, so first things first, do we need a crowner to decide whether or not to rename this?

We should probably do that first, yes.

Since this thread has been going for over a year without a single person arguing for keeping the name I made an alternative titles crowner here.

One popular suggestion in this thread was Shapeshifted Lover, but as Shimaspawn pointed out in post #24, there is already a trope called Shapeshifting Lover — which is basically What Measure Is a Humanoid? Used In Fairytales. I suggest that we simply merge the two.

OK, there has been a request to attach an alternative title crowner and in the same post a suggestion that the trope under discussion be merged with another trope. These are two different actions.

I have created and will attach a page action crowner first, then we can figure out the next step.

[up] Yeah, I got a bit sidetracked halfway through. Sorry, and thanks for fixing it.

The problem I see with merging is that Shapeshifting Lover is not Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Its name suggests What Measure Is a Humanoid?, but the description is a specific variant, a subtrope wherein the shapeshifter's phlebotium is stolen, trapping her (usually her) in human form and forcing her to marry the human thief, only for her to find her stolen phlebotium and run off years later, often leaving behind her half-human kids. And it looks like Shapeshifting Lover has been misused frequently for What Measure Is a Humanoid?.

So I prefer a trope transplant: rename What Measure Is a Humanoid? to Shapeshifting Lover, and rename the trope currently under Shapeshifting Lover to something else (Involuntary Selkie Wife ? Stolen Selkie Phlebotium ?). Make What Measure Is a Humanoid? into a subtrope of Interspecies Romance, with the stolen shapeshifter phlebotium trope as a subtrope of What Measure Is a Humanoid?.

Yeah, this has nothing to do with the trope currently on Shapeshifting Lover. Shapeshifting Lover is a plot trope.

Calling crowner with no consensus to act, and locking the thread as its clock has expired.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.
