Pokemon is more than just battling and catching, right?

Here we talk about the other things the series have to offer.

And maybe futer spinoffs, as well.

Yep, I'm still here.

The stadium minigames were fun.

As a whole, I like the Pokemon Spinoffs.

The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games have satisfied me with both plot and gameplay, but there's still some aspects which Just Bug Me. Multihit moves are pretty broken in that they have high power, which maked my time in Explorers of Darkness tough because my Torchic took massive damage from Rollout. They still also haven't really figured out what to do with the Speed Stat, and making there extra turns definitely doesn't work - especially with a Monster House, where Agility gives every monster attacking you extra turns to attack. Finally, I dislike how it takes a ridiculously long amount of time before you're allowed to evolve - I'd prefer auto evolving or making the evolution springs area able to be accessed before you beat the game.

Pokemon Ranger I like slightly less than the Mystery Dungeon, but it's still quite good. I love the event pokemon that you get from special missions, I feel like the game (and Dungeon) could use more of those. In all of the games, though, I feel like the plot moves too slowly and there's too much instruction in the beginning. I don't ever really talk to the generic civilians - I normally do in other Pokemon games and other RP Gs in general, but in this series they don't have that many great things to say. I thought the assists were lacking in the first two games, so I liked how they made a unique assist for each pokemon in Guardian Signs. The actual sign system in that game, though, was more annoying than useful, as you mostly just switched between four signs: The legendary beasts for solving puzzles and Latias/Latios to fly between areas. They incorporated other pokemon to summon, but some were completely USELESS: You got both Bidoof and Buneary as assisters, both with Normal type Assists and an identical weak field ability.

It should be noted that I am accentuating the negative in this post. I like all of the games, but it's easier to remember things you like than what you dislike.

I love Rangers. That's really all I have to say about that.

I tried Mystery Dungeon Blue and Red, hated it, never picked up another Mystery Dungeon game again. Don't get me wrong, the story is flipping epic, but... the gameplay is just... forgettable.

I like the Stadium games (or at least the one I've played, the N64 version).

Uhh... Both Stadium games were for the N64. Generation 3's equivalent - the first Gamecube Pokemon game - was Colosseum.

I love both the Dungeon and Ranger games. Anybody here play the special Arceus mission in Guardian Signs?

Mystery Dungeon Blue is good times! And made me appreciate Cubone a lot more, since she was my starter.

But my favorite spinoff was and remains Pokemon Snap.

I don't like random-gen dungeons so I'm not big on Mystery Dungeon. I haven't tried Ranger but it looks pretty fun.

Actually, the spinoff I really want to try is Pokémon Dash.

And the pinball games are awesome.

I tried Dash. It... wasn't very fun. The pinball games are fun. I hope they make one for this generation.

I'm personally excited by the prospect of a third Shadow Pokemon game. We'll have to see if it is indeed a true sequel to XD or just a Spiritual Successor.

I usually don't touch spinoffs, but I think I must say that I have fond memories of getting beaten to a pulp in Pokemon Stadium. There was a Blastoise and a Kangaskhan IIRC, but I can't remember which did the beating, nor which one I was playing as, or even if that's possible in the stadium games (memory is fuzzy).

I really want to try out the Cute Pikachu spin offs. Poke Park Wii looks like tons of fun and gave amazing personalities to the pokemon, and also Blaziken is in it and he is awesome.

Those Stadium Games were the best. They gave you quite a lot of options. Pokemon Flash was also fun.

I liked Colloseum for the quality of being a fully 3d pokemon game. It's a shame they were lazy about it. I never played xd, but I consider it the same.

I'm just wonder when Nintendo and Game Freak (and I guess Genius Sorority since they seems to be the ones that did the two 3d games) are going to take the plunge and give us a fully 3d Pokemon adventure with Gyms and an evil team and the like. I figure the Colloseum games were testing the water, seeing what works and what doesn't, and likely doing what they usually do; trying to make it available to everyone.

I'm hoping we'll get that game soon.

Nintendo64 had The Stadium games.

Gamecube has Colloseum and xd.

Wii has only has Battle Revolution. If they keep to the pattern, then there should still be one more to go.

I'm hoping they go all out on this one. We have been waiting.

Pokemon Colosseum had good battle music? Should they go all the way in the future and let you play as a thief who steals whatever he wants with "right and wrong" getting in the way? Or would just enough freedom as given from the hand helds be enough?

Pokemon Rangernis the only video game I can think of where you play as a park ranger. Why isn't that more common?

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon made you feel like crying. If it wasn't for the story, than for the fact your little cousin asking for your help refused to use the save feature. No Export for You on a Wii ware title? That's funny.

Pokemon Snap a first person shooter with no bullets, that was revolutionary.

I'm for a war machine spinoff where you capture Pokemon to use as living batteries for you vehicles and weapons, essentially Pokemon Trozie from the villain's point of view, with less puzzles and more violence.

Pokemon Rumble looks strangely fun.

And its music is completely unheard of in the series. It rocks.

On the subject of fan-made games, have anyone ever heard of "Pokesho's Type: Wild?"

Yep. It's interesting enough. I don't know if he's updating it anymore though (last version I tried had added Breloom and Swalot to the roster).

And yeah, Pokemon Rumble's music is awesome, as well as very different from the usual style.

I can prove that Purple Eyes from Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs is U-Mos from Metroid Prime 2.
