This thread's for the Spider-Man comics and spin-offs, whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- Spider-Man 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Spider-Man 2099, Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Venom, Carnage, Black Cat, Red Goblin and Spider-Verse.
- Characters and comics that originated in Spider-Man but are no longer directly connected to the spider-franchise (e.g. Punisher, Silver Sable) are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their Spider-Man stories here.
Discussions that are only about Spider-Man adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).

My guess is that Tempest is still alive. The only confirmation we have of her death is her mom, who says she had plans for her and never liked her dating Miguel. So my guess is that, while Miguel was unconscious, the mother had Tempest secretly moved somewhere private.
Edit: If she is dead, though, then yeah, fuck that noise.

X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. She is most likely alive. I mean his computer was practically beating him over the head with it to go check the body.
Here's a question: Has PAD stated as to when in his life Miguel was sent to 616? He knows Stone is his dad and has fought Venom 2099, but I don't think he's mentioned Xina or anything else that happend in the later issues since travelling back.

Lafayette StrongYou know, a lot of arguments as to why not "age" Spider-Man and such basically boil down to "this way, it'll be easier to keep Spider-Man going forever" (I even think someone said something in the lines of "now they want him married, tomorrow they'll want him grow old and die"). Now, I disagree with that logic (if Peter can't be Spider-Man indefinitely, why can't he be married to MJ indefinitely) but when you think about it... SHOULD Spider-Man even go on forever? CAN he even?
I mean, they didn't create him with that in mind. At one point, won't keeping his story endless make the story less worthwhile? If say, thirty years from now on, Peter is gonna retire and his daughter takes the mantle and they either publish comics with her (while being free to revisit Peter's old years with stories taking place in the past) and/or do a reboot starting with young Peter all over again, or even just ended period, kept alive only by reprints, adaptations and such... Would it be such a big deal? Sherlock Holmes ended over a hundred years ago and still makes millions.
We've already kind of cycled through books that do all of what you're suggesting, by the time 616 Peter ever gets around to having kids, it won't be new ground for the character, just that particular version of him.
We've already had a book with Peter's daughter which lasted twelve years, even if it's an alternate future, that continuity's Peter shared the first thirty-year plus history of the 616 version, and it's a continuity where many of the big character deaths in the 90s stuck rather than be reversed later, so MC 2 carries a lot of significant weight as a universe with more consequence to it.
We already had a young Peter reboot in the Ultimate Universe books, which ran it's decade-long course and established our new youthful Spider in Miles Morales for the next generation.
Tthe new "Spidey" book coming out will fill the void for stories based in the past while the main book sets about ageing Peter in the present.
And Peter is still married to MJ in the newspaper comics.
I think we're truly past the point of an "end-all, be-all" version of Peter Parker. Everything is about variety with the character today rather than tomorrow.

So... Is that a yes or no? Don't take this the wrong way, I just don't think I understand what are you saying.
I really don't think we are, nor that we should be. 616 Peter is still very much THE Spider-Man, not just "that particular version" of him.

Depends on how you feel. I certainly don't consider 616 Peter to be "the man" as I've lost all respect for that devil-dealing idiot and his world the last eight years. Hell he actually stopped being my go-to Spidey back in 1999 because I liked the premise for Peter in Spider-Girl better, but JMS convinced me to jump back on again for a bit longer.
More power to you lot if you can still consider him THE Spider-Man, but I'm well past that point.
Dan Slott this year even said "Any Spider-Man you care about is the real one", though that was probably to add more weight to the stakes of Spider-Verse and the impending summer replacement event that was Renew Your Vows. Guy is a smart marketer.
As for whether my previous post was a "yes" or a "no", I'm not quite sure myself, it's sort of a "maybe", we're in a very experimental phase for the franchise at the moment.

Most audiences by now probably think of the Movies or even Ultimate cartoon versions of Spider-Man as 'THE Spider-Man' over any comics version.
I get the impression that 2099 has been Broad Stroked. Miguel almost never talks about the future in general.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.So in ASM#3, Harry is running PI in New York, but has switched his surname to the maiden name of his mother in order to avoid the trademark family cookiness associated with his past and father.
Some more teasing with the fate of the Fantastic Four too, Peter commissioned a nice statue of the group from Alicia and put it on display in the Building to remind everyone of who ran the shop, and he tells Johnny he's confident the group will be back

Took long enough. I know Bendis has said that both it and Ultimate End got it with delays because apparently they tie in to whatever Secret Wars ending will be.
I gotta hand it to slott that was a legitimately enjoyable issue of amazing spider man. Doesn't excuse the last 2 years but kudos. Although why was vals statue like 2 times the size of franklins

I have to agree. I had some quibbles with it, but this was the best issue from Dan since issue two of RYV.
Might have something to do with Peter doing some pretty good stuff with his life right now. He's running his company well, he's respecting the Fantastic Four by making sure no one else gets the Baxter Building, he's given Harry a job to help support his kid.
This "Tony Stark-lite" thing is working out well for his status quo.
Finally.
Who is the unconscious woman with no sleeves? That's definitely not Kamala or Thor.
No, his real weakness is The Kangaroo.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Newspaper Strip MJ is such a badass...has faith her man will come out on top against Namor and is willing to try and complete Peter's rescue of the sick Atlantean youngling by herself

Has anyone ever felt like Venom and Carnage would be scarier if they didn't talk? Like if they were more like Jason Voorhees or Michael Mayer?
I think Lizard's the one who works better when he doesn't talk.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Venom, definitely.
Carnage, I don't know; one of Cletus's "things" is never shutting up.
Venom's dialogue can either enhance his menace or completely undermine it. The latter usually occurs when it's overplayed as monster speak. "Sssssssspider-Man I will eat your brainssssss."
Especially when it's about eating brains.
That being said, Venom is a character first and a spooky monster second, so I wouldn't want to see a wholly silent Implacable Man Venom.

I find that rather debatable given his origins seem to get the most changes in adaptations and that the symbitoe has changed hands so many times.
He's speaking out of anger, not logic.
That being said, I sure am glad that we had that whole arc about trying to cure Tempest's cancer just so she can be stuffed in a fridge five seconds after we returned from Battleworld in order to cure Miguel of a spontaneous 10-Minute Retirement that lasted all of a single issue! This has been a satisfying turn of events and not at all a complete waste of a character.
