Limbaugh mocks Chinese, CA StSen Leland Yee calls for apology, gets death threats

Associated Press article as hosted by Google. San Jose Mercury News: The harrassment continues, and Yee continues to stand up to them. Text of the death threat in question, including the kitchen-sink insult that would be hilarious if this weren't actually serious.

To people who actually cared about the lack of immediate translation of Hu's speech: If you think that Yee was overreacting, then you should have been mocking him, not sending him death threats.

To Rush Limbaugh: Everyone already knows you're one of the biggest assholes in entire the United States. You are not advised to try to top that.

Yee appears to be a twat, but death threats are certainly not cool.

I've heard the English language mocked on foreign television, and I wasn't offended. It was interesting to hear how our language sounded to foreign ears.

Those blatantly racist remarks are an entirely different story, though.

I don't like Yee, but I wouldn't send him a death threat for having political views that I disagree with, that's pretty over the top.

Chinese does sound annoying. But every accent gets it's fair share of mockery.

Due to the "tonality" of Chinese, or rather, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese, I don't seem to like it as much as, say, Japanese or Korean. Honestly there are more European languages I like than Asian. But it's really a "to each their own" thing.

I'm a firm believer that China and Chinese culture has something for just about everyone. Don't let the Nationalists fool you. Chinese culture isn't all about the Han. There are plenty of ethnic groups in China and diversity. China isn't simply made up of one race. And don't like the haters get to ya' as well. The government definitely needs some work, but it isn't as bad of a place to live as many people say.

I'm personally a bit of a Harbin fanboy. I kind of like Xinjiang, as well.

I think Mandarin sounds weird, but that's probably because I grew up hearing Cantonese. Mocking a language on public television, though, isn't the smartest thing Limbaugh could've done. Yee was overreacting a little, but death threats are just too much.

I'm not clear on how big a deal Yee made of it. If he asked for an apology and got rejected by Fox News and then the issue fizzled out, I don't think that's a big deal. Rush Limbaugh did something potentially insulting, and rather unprofessional, and then Yee asked for an apology (I didn't even hear about it, so I presume he didn't push it as a top level issue or anything).

Then some jackasses in America have to go ahead and send him death threats.

I don't see why anyone would criticize Yee on this. I mean, if having reason to demand some civility from Rush Limbaugh makes you a twat, there should be a LOT more twats out there.

he is saddend by how us americans feel?? maybe he should see through the threats n realize that us americans are fucking upset that we cant get a damn job that we went to college n have a degree for because of all the immigration from his homeland and mexico that are coming and working for dirt pay..yes the foundation of america was built on the land of the free but it doesnt work like that.I am a chef and cannot find a position in any restaurant because the MEXICANS HAITIANS N CHINESE are willing to work for minimum wage..they stay for 6 months to a year n then go back home n live like kings while we who have spent money on education and invested time and effort to build a future for ourselfs is having it taking right out of our hands like candy from a baby. The death threats are a lil overboard. Maybe its time that Big brother take a look n do something about this, i hate to say it but we are fed up and something needs to be done...

He appears to be part of the "videogames make people violent" crowd and his supporters have purposely edited his Wikipedia entry in his favor in the past. Other than that, he appears clean.
