UN proclamations of a ceasefire in Yemen seem to be premature. Fighting in Sana'a continues for a 4th day. The Houthi are shelling an Army camp in the city.

They're also Seymour Hersh's theory that Turkey is funding JAN and is behind the Ghouta chemical attacks (remember them?).

Hell, thats what I've been saying whenever anyone usually brings up Turk-Kurd relations these days, but I'm just trying to figure out the motives of these few who think supporting Daesh is a good idea.

Probably something along the lines of "REMOVE KURD," and ignoring the fact that ISIS is a worse problem and the destruction of Iraqi Kurdistan would leave Turkish Kurdistan less stable, not more.

Yemen PM quits Yemeni Prime Minister Mohamed Basindwa has resigned amid escalating clashes in the capital between Shia Houthi rebels and pro-government forces, reports say.

Wife of Briton held by ISIS issues an emotional plea for his release. I'm getting a sickening feeling of deja vou.

Speaking of "remove Kurd",Turkish police use tear gas to disperse Kurds on the border. Personally I find it darkly humorous, ISIS probably would not be where it is now if Turkey had controlled it's border better, therefore they must deal with the refugees they create.

Okay, so according to the Associated Press, the Yemeni government is denying that the PM has resigned, which is causing confusion throughout the country.

More importantly, the Houthis have seized several strategic areas, including the Central Bank, the Defence Ministry, a military base (the one I reported on earlier, the HQ of the 1st Armored Division, which was the elite unit led by General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, one of the factions involved in the power tussle), and the Iman University.

The Interior Ministry is asking the Sana'a police to cooperate with the militia in an effort to prevent the capital from falling into anarchy.

Reuters says they've talked with Bassindwa and he has confirmed his resignation despite what the president's office told AP, which may mean he did it on his own accord.

They also add that in addition to the previously mentioned facilities, the Houthis also control state television (though without interfering in government broadcasts) and the prime minister's office.

What it looks like to me is that no deal will really work short of Hadi's own resignation (sans replacement by yet another member of the old Nasserist regime). They'll take over neighborhood by neighborhood, building by building, until all that's left is the presidential palace.

Apparently a deal has been signed between the government and the Houthis (that's the plural, right?), aiming to bring an end to the violence. Time will tell if this works.

Can't tell about the plural. Some say Houthi is both and some say Houthis as the plural. Confusing to say the least.

As for whether it will work, if the southerners nominate a PM, he'll not be listened to. Nothing, institutionally, has really changed since Saleh left, so the PM is rubberstamp at best. And even after the deal was signed, the Houthi took over more territories in the city. As such, I don't see the deal working.

The general trend is Houthis and Salafists fight, Houthis win, Salafist political allies among the al-Ahmar family and the Islah party in parliament complain to Hadi, Hadi sends in troops, Houthis win (this is starting to sound like Particle Man), then Hadi offers a deal so his troops can get some rest in return for retreating further south, then the Houthi follow to the next Salafist encampment/stronghold, rinse and repeat.

Islamic State destroys Armenian Genocide Memorial Church in Deir ez-Zor

I kind of saw this coming, I knew it would happen eventually. For Armenians, it's like how Jews would feel if Auschwitz were destroyed. I'd say it was a new low, but, well, the Islamic State already has an active genocide of it's own under it's belt with the Yazidis. They can't get much lower.

A Nato Ally stands on the side in fight against ISIS Few countries are in a better position than Turkey to help the United States fight Islamic State. The moderate Islamic country shares a 750 mile border with Syria, is a NATO member and a long-time ally of America. But don’t hold your breath for Turkey’s support.

IDF shoots down Syrian fighter plane infiltrating Israeli territory

The Israel Air Force on Tuesday fired a Patriot missile at a Syrian fighter jet infiltrating Israeli territory. The Russian-made Sukhoi 24 was toppled over the Quneitra area.

This is the first time since 1982 that the IAF has toppled a Syrian aircraft. The defense establishment has not yet confirmed whether the jet infiltrated Israeli territory purposefully or errantly.

The U.K. Independent reported that the Syrian Revolution Coordinators Union posted footage that may show the two pilots of the downed Syrian plane parachuting to the ground. The paper said the pilots are located near Kanaker, Syria, in the area of the Golan that Israel annexed.

The union is a group that coordinates the protest activities of various organizations fighting the Assad regime in Syria.

Syria confirmed late Tuesday morning that Israel had shot down one of its war planes, in what it described as an act of aggression.

Syrian state TV quoted a military source saying the downing of the plane, which coincided with U.S.-led air strikes against Islamic State in Syria, came "in the framework of [Israel's] support for the terrorist [Islamic State] and the Nusra Front."

The interception of the Syrian jet came after a night of heavy U.S.-led air strikes against Islamic State targets in the northwest of the country.

Fighting from Syria's civil war has occasionally spilled over into the Golan. Israel has scrambled jets toward Syrian aircraft approaching the border in the past, but has never opened fire.

On Saturday morning, an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in southern Lebanon Saturday morning — a Skylark drone that malfunctioned during routine operations along the border near the town of Marjayoun, the Israel Defense Forces said, adding that it was investigating further.

According to a Lebanese media report about two weeks ago, an Israeli drone had entered Lebanese airspace. According to Hezbollah, the drone blew up an Israeli listening device after the gadget was discovered near the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon.

During Operation Protective Edge, the Israel Defense Forces toppled two unmanned aerial vehicles that infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. The defense establishment assessed that Hamas had in its cache a number of these droned.[sic]

I thought (more like daydream) of this at work, so bear with me here.

Does any country in the coalition have something like a gunship to do some death from above? I can just imagine it just circling areas under control by the Daesh and occasionally shooting stuff (I dunno, roads? Some vehicles?), might not even hit stuff, just showing they can't do anything about it. (can they? Not sure about what weapons they have) Then give it a twitter account so it can troll them with comments like "Why can't you defend yourself oh mighty state?" "I see you."

Would show how helpless they are. Might even be a decoy so weapons/targets/AA can be identified.

Sorry. I know it's a serious subject but my mind just wandered.
