My assumption is that they focused on doing what they could and were going to deal with the full emotional fall-out when it was all said and done.
Though the comment about the parody nature of the series means that everyone would have likely been revived before it got to that point.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean, they were probably going to be revived anyway, it just kinda felt out of place to me.
But yea, we're back baby. I wonder how the Doomship arc is going to play out without Basilix and he still hasn't revealed Eggman's full appearance...
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Why exactly did Alvin stop working on this?
Was there anything more than "impatient jerks kept asking for more episodes?" I'd guess there were financial reasons. Those I can actually sympathize with.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Why people kept saying is a parody?
I mean for most part the show was "DBZ story made by Sonic and Mario cast" from most part every fight was serious as hell from the island that blow up to Sonic and Shadow fates(which consider that part as from Mirai trunks story arc there any reason for them to get back to life)
Also if I remenber, Metal sonic actually kill tails or cream with it machine gun....that was nasty.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"He kills Cream and Cheese with a in-built machine gun. He broke Tails neck. He beat Knuckles half to death and then shot him with the very same gun he used on Cream. He tears Omega apart. And we do not know what he did to Amy or Rouge...but considering what he did to the rest it was likely pretty bad (apparently whatever he did to Rouge was slow, she didn't die until Shadow found her)
that is....wow, really brutal..
but there is his battle with the Axem ranger, those stuff dosent look out place in Mortal kombat at all, for all thing Mecha sonic is far more brutal thatn DB villians, which is quite saying

Take this with a grain of salt, since it's been a few years, but from what I remember, Alvin's job was pretty high stress. The impression I remember was it being a dead-end job that he was just barely making ends meet in, and I think he was still in school for atleast part of it.
This and his art were his primary stress relief, but as SMBZ became more popular, it went from stress relief to a stress factor. Part of the reason he's okay with a reboot is because he apparently isn't doing that job anymore.
So, is the series going again for 0 or he is going to continue it?
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Couldn't comment earlier, so...
Hahem...
THE HYPE.
THE HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE.
Considering we're talking about a reboot, I'd go with "back to square one but a few things will be modified in the process".
Which is fine by me, after the insanity that were the last episodes, going back to the first ones was... Jarring.
The series was never a parady, as it took itself pretty seriously and never made any jokes about Dragon Ball (at least from what I could tell). There is definitely a decent helping of comedic moments, but as a whole the series is a straight X Meets Y for the purpose of Rule of Cool.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? The series wasnt really a parody, but more of a humorous adventure story (with lots of dark parts, of course). The tone reminds me of the Mario RP Gs, actually (which was probably intentional).
I hope it's more of a reboot continuation bit, like DOFP or The Incredible Hulk, where its acknowledged that the basic idea of the series is new but the plot itself still treads entirely new ground.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I am pretty sure it resembling the Mario RP Gs in tone is intentional. It has the same kind of humor (mostly involving Luigi) and seriousness when the situation has gone downhill.
Only just learned about the reboot. Get hype!
Anyway, he's going to have a tough time topping Episode 6 of the original series. Three absolutely kickass fights, plus the total annihilation of Yoshi's Island?
On the one hand I'm kinda glad he's dropping Basilisx, but on the other the Mario vs. Basilisx fight was really kickass too. Hopefully Hammer Mario gets to show up again anyway.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! If you ask me, Basilix should not have lasted for more than an episode like he did. He should have been an Elite Mook at best that was beaten within his debut.
Although I do have to wonder, how would Basilix have been killed off? Personally, I bet it was his petrification sight malfunctioning and turning him to stone, maybe he'd even get shattered somehow.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Why drop Basilisx? Did Alvin think he was too powerful, or too dark?
Or was there something else about him that didn't jive.
One Strip! One Strip! It's likely he didn't think he fit too well with the plot, that he was basically a filler OC.
Basilisx is a pretty poor OC with a stupid 90s name, a weak backstory that's meant to wax poetic of What Measure Is a Mook?, Wolverine claws (because of course), and a random petrification ability that only exists to make him a shitty edgelord copy of General Blue.
.....No, I was never a fan, and I'm actually happy he's getting excised.

In my excitement, I ran through episodes 6-8 again to relive that good ol' charm.
Still really great fights and I reeeeeally wanna see how Alvin does it this time around. When I got to Baslisx... Yeah I kinda cringed because I remember him just being Not Very Great, even when I was a kid.
Was still a neat fight anyway.
mario is red, i am green, i try my best, but everyone's meanFair enough.
Agree on hoping someone from Canon takes his spot and gives just a good a fight too.
One Strip! One Strip!Basilisx was one of the more interesting parts of this series, an Elite Mook that used dirty tactics, I don't know where this dislike of his character's coming from.
Where did Alvin say he was getting rid of the character? The patreon doesn't mention anything and I don't see anything on the reboot intro either.
Who would honestly? How many Elite Mooks does Bowser own, maybe one of the Koopa Kids?
...that could be an interesting 7-on-3 fight, but even so.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Some time after he cancelled the series, Alvin made a sprite animation depicting a new version of the first episode's opening sequence. In his description, he explains things he felt he would change should he actually work on the series again. Basilix was one of the elements. Note that he does say that the character was well-received, but he ultimately felt that Basilix was unneeded.
Speaking of that scene, he remade it and reuploaded it to Youtube a while back.
Thank you for linking me there, I found this:
Honestly, "Mecha Mario" is the idea I could have gone without. Basilisx didn't need build up - and backstory? Tragic brother-in-arms who watched his friends die at Mario's hands, it was nice and simple. Yeah, he could've had a smaller role, but his role wasn't that big to begin with - having an Elite Mook on Bowser's battleship was fine, give him an earlier appearance if need be, spying on the heroes after the destruction of Yoshi's Island perhaps.
Well, it's his series.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I think having the over-powered...petrification ability just ends up making his existence flawed and the fight with Mario pointless. As a character he didn't really matter, but he could've had a much better written way of taking out Luigi, Sonic, and Yoshi.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.
@66
I hope that means Donkey Kong will make an appearance.
