I could go either way on this. On one hand, I feel like it fits because it's a weapon class like guns and swords. On the other hand, BFB can stand for several things and is somewhat vague and hard to remember.
It's definitely tropable. And it's name is waaaaay closer to being a good snowclone to BFG than BFC and BFM are.
Edit: I wasn't suggesting it wasn't tropable, I was just being Captain Obvious

^Oh, I wasn't suggesting it wasn't tropable at all. I just think it could use a better name.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyJust add Big Freaking Bomb as a redirect
If there's a redirect, it needs to go the other way.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI was actually going to propose this, but I knew that "Big Fucking Bomb" is out of the question, since that's what the source trope actually stands for (no matter how much id software tries to deny it).
Anyway, the key point of the trope is that being the size of a car is the bare minimum, not the size of the blast, or how big it is to a typical version of a bomb with the same blast. So a rename should reflect that.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I'm hesitant to use MOAB because it's an actual specific weapon.
Fight smart, not fair. Are there any "b" words other than "big" that indicate large size? Or at least mean some part of the trope?

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. There's "bulky", that kind of fits. Are you trying to salvage the acronym?

But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold.Bulky?
EDIT: Ninja'd.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I like that. Big, Bulky Bomb. It certainly fits with most of the examples.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Ah, attempting to acquire the alliteration-adoring "ayes", eh?
But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold.It just seemed like a natural fit, considering two of the words fit this.
I mean, I'm not against clever as long as I can be sure the concise and clear parts are included.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. Not a fan of alliteration for alliteration's sake, but I think Big, Bulky Bomb works pretty well. Bulky implies that's not just the explosion that's big.

Well if it didn't fit, it would just be for the sake of alliteration. That's why I was asking if one fit. Otherwise it would have been best to go with another name.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Isn't there already something similar to this that it can just be merged with?
Words staring with 'b' meaning big?
I think that one should be made a redirect. I rarely get to say that word. 'Brobdingnagian'.
I don't like "bulky", it implies comically shaped bombs, while the trope includes anything from huge piles of dynamite, to gigantic but sleek rockets.
Nah way to cumbersome (redirect is fine though I think)
Mother Of All Bombs, Mom Bomb, Just Short Of A Nuke, Mini Nuke would be my suggestions.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!All of those sound like they're more about the amount of damage that the bomb does, rather the actual size of the bomb.

Spun off from this conversation.
The BF_ snowclone thing started with BFG. That was fine; it was a preexisting term. Then we get BFS. Not a preexisting term, but it's a really common trope that needed a name, and something of a low-tech equivalent of the BFG. A bit shaky, but okay.
Now we have BFB. Feel free to play Guess That Trope if you haven't seen it. This isn't as bad as BFC or BFM, which aren't even weapons, but it needs a clear, more searchable name. It has some wicks, but if we kept it as a redirect to the new name, it's not a problem.
Stratadrake, in that conversation I linked, has already suggested Mother Of All Bombs. Any other ideas?
