A really snarky narrator, maybe?

Black humour's the classic one.
I have devised a most marvelous signature, which this signature line is too narrow to contain.

I wouldn't exactly say that's much "softer"...

Keep in mind that most people don't like being unhappy or scared or worried. This means that the more desperate or unpleasant the circumstances, the more desperately people will look for something funny, or happy, or at least mildly amusing. That's the reason Black humor and Gallows humor exist. But genuine, funny, humor can also be found, not in the circumstances themselves, but in something completely unrelated.

There are some pretty heavy issues in one of my current stories such as Homeless Children, Trigger-Happy people suffering from insanity, Demonic Possession, Abandonment, Fear Of The Unknown, and other stuff of that nature. However, my story is a Dramedy with much more emphasis on the Comedy. The Drama side keeps the situation from going out of control. What tricks do you people have of looking at heavy issues without falling into True Art Is Angsty?
