Two-Gun Goofy is a 1952 Disney Classic cartoon.

Goofy is a cowboy who wanders into a western town terrorized by the fearsome outlaw, Pete.

Two-Gun Goofy provides examples of:

  • Accidental Hero: Goofy continues besting Pete at every turn even when oblivious to his presence. He ultimately becomes the town hero and eventually the new sheriff.
  • Angry Animalistic Growl: Pete growls during his attack in the saloon.
  • Automaton Horses: Parodied. Pete uses his horse as a car when robbing the bank, Parallel Parking it while bumping into the horses front and back, and even leaving the "motor" running.
  • "Awkward Silence" Entrance: The saloon patrons turn their attention toward the door as they hear Pete approaching even before he enters the saloon.
  • Bowdlerise: In some T.V. airings, the following shots are cut out:
    • Pete shooting the sheriff.
    • Each shot of Goofy smoking a cigarette.
    • Goofy shooting a bullet at Pete’s wanted poster.
    • Pete attempting to shoot Goofy with both his pistols and the latter dodging him with a bow.
    • Goofy riding into town before his arrival is announced.
  • Bullet Hole Spelling: After shooting the sheriff, Pete shoots bullets at the sheriff’s office. Under the “sheriff” sign Pete writes “wanted” now that he has left that position vacant.
  • Butt-Monkey: Pete falls victim to Goofy’s antics, getting slapped around and stepped on by an oblivious Goofy. He just can’t catch a break with all the slapstick and Amusing Injuries Goofy unknowingly puts him through.
  • The Cameo: Goofy Junior briefly appears as Goofy’s cowboy cupid when he falls in love with the damsel.
  • The Chew Toy: Pete gets on the receiving end once Goofy gets the best of him.
  • Coincidental Dodge: Goofy unwittingly dodges Pete’s attempt to shoot him with his pistols by bowing before the damsel he saves. While still oblivious to Pete’s presence through most of the short, Goofy unwittingly dodges every one of Pete’s attempts to attack him.
  • Covered in Mud: One of Pete’s attempts to attack Goofy fails when he falls into a puddle of mud.
  • Cowboy Episode
  • Distracted by the Sexy: When launching Goofy into the sky like a rocket, Pete aims his pistol at the former preparing to shoot him, only to be distracted by the damsel passing by. As result of the distraction, Pete gets landed on by Goofy.
  • Dirty Coward: Pete sneaks a huge dynamite into Goofy’s pants as his final attempt to kill him. When Goofy comes near him with the dynamite, Pete quivers with fear and flees. He then resorts to locking himself in the jailhouse.
  • The Ditz: Goofy, as usual! He is oblivious to Pete’s presence throughout most of the cartoon. He doesn’t even believe Pete is real when he first sees a wanted poster of him. He doesn’t even notice Pete sneaking a dynamite on him. The only time Goofy notices Pete is when they come face to face in the saloon.
  • Face Doodling: Goofy inadvertently does this to Pete, thinking his face is another "Wanted!" Poster.
  • The Faceless: The damsel Goofy falls in love with has her face always covered by her bonnet.
  • Family-Unfriendly Death: Though it happens offscreen, Pete shooting the sheriff can be quite disturbing, especially since the sheriff can be heard grunting before dying.
  • Frothy Mugs of Water: Played straight with Goofy, who orders a double sarsaparilla float at the saloon. Averted with Pete, who pours himself a shot glass full of whiskey.
  • Guns Akimbo: Pete is armed with two pistols. He terrorizes the townsfolk with his guns as he rides into town. He also tries shooting Goofy with both of them.
  • Ironic Episode Title: Contrary to the cartoon’s title, Goofy has only one gun. Pete, the antagonist, has two guns.
  • Love at First Sight: Goofy and the damsel when they first meet. The damsel immediately admires Goofy, who becomes lovestruck.
  • Made of Iron: Pete places a huge dynamite in the back of Goofy’s pants as his final attempt to murder him. Even when the dynamite explodes, Goofy is still in one piece unharmed.
  • Magic Pants: The explosion doesn’t even damage Goofy’s clothes.
  • Mustache Vandalism: Goofy does this to a "Wanted!" Poster of Pete, then does this to Pete himself by mistake.
  • Parallel Parking: Pete parallel parks his horse when riding into town to rob the bank.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Goofy, for most of this short.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite holding her up along with the stagecoach driver early on, Pete bows and greets the damsel in a friendly manner as she passes by him.
  • Prefer Jail to the Protagonist: When finally fed up with all the slapstick Goofy puts him through, Pete locks himself up in the jailhouse for refuge and throws out the keys.
  • Puncuated For Emphasis: "Where is he... AT!"
  • One-Word Vocabulary: All the damsel Evers says is “My hero” (thrice) and “Good bye.”
  • Recycled Animation: The animation of Pete riding into town at the beginning of the short is reused for when he rides into town again after Goofy arrives. This bit of animation is also reused in the Chip and Dale cartoon, “The Lone Chipmunks.”
  • Road Runner vs. Coyote: Pete spends the rest of the short attempting to assault and murder Goofy for his revenge. Every one of his attempts backfires, especially with Goofy unwittingly dodging him.
  • Screaming Woman: A woman is heard screaming when Pete robs the bank.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Goofy unknowingly brings the dynamite near Pete, the latter flees the saloon and locks himself in the jailhouse for refuge.
  • The Sheriff: Pete shoots the sheriff during his shoot-out at the beginning. At the end, Goofy is appointed as the new sheriff for getting Pete locked in jail.
  • Undertaker: Is seen cheering on Pete as he shoots people down, and later taking Goofy's measurements.
  • "Wanted!" Poster: None of Pete’s wanted posters convinces Goofy that Pete is real. Goofy shoots a bullet at the first wanted poster he sees declaring that’s what he would do to Pete if he was real. When seeing another wanted poster, Goofy draws mustache on Pete’s face. Then he draws a mustache on the real Pete’s face as if mistaking him for another poster.
  • Wingding Pupils: Goofy gets stars in his eyes when he looks at the damsel.
