Heh, yeah, that's pretty clever.
Motion to pull
Pic relies completely on the caption to establish the cameo.
I'd actually like the Archeopteryx pic better, even if it is a Visual Pun.
...I did laugh at that picture. It's not particularly helpful, but it is funny. Normally I don't like Visual Puns, but that's made me chuckle.
However, seconding pull. It's only useful if you've seen Pokemon.
Not really for pulling it its a pun and an example... I am all for replacing it with better though.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!An example, maybe. But where's the pun? "Who's That Pokemon?" was something limited to the cartoon series. Otherwise it just looks like the caption is literally asking who that Pokemon is. It's not conveying that the bird will show up later. It's not conveying that this is early on in the series. It's missing everything required to show this trope, but that doesn't mean it's not an example.
ETA: And as for the hottip—they shouldn't be there to explain why this image that doesn't look like an example is an example. If that worked, Image Pickin' boards wouldn't need to be here.

Agreed, I see nothing wrong with it.
You have a point in that it's an example. On the negative side, it doesn't convey the trope to people unfamiliar with the context. Also, it's a pun.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.I vote against pulling it unless one that is generally agreed to be better is found. This one isn't bad enough to need to be pulled without a replacement in view.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I am in favor of pulling it. It adds nothing, and quite frankly, the image quality is complete shit. Blurry and full or artifacts.

I'm in favor of keeping it until a better one is found.
No idea what it means. With the caption or otherwise.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyYay, it's gone now.
Archaeopteryx? How very appropriate. It also crosses into Bilingual Bonus and/or Genius Bonus territory because it's german name means "original bird" or "first bird"
Maybe if we photoshop it into a cameo pin, we could get away with the visual pun aspect.
That would take some serious work, but if someone could do it it would be awesome.
If we could find a picture of dinosaurs with an Archeopteryx in the background, we could give it a caption like 'See that bird in the background? It didn't seem very important when it first appeared, but 350 million seasons later they are all over the place.'.
That way we'd get a pun with Bilingual Bonus and sort of demonstrate the trope.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.I don't have the pics handy, so hopefully the description works.
We can take a picture and combine it from two sources side by side: The original and the adaptation. For instance, take Naruto. The early episodes are fairly accurate shot-for-shot adaptations of the manga. So we take the manga scene with the unknown characters and set it side by side with the anime version of the same shot, only with the unknowns replaced by the specific characters. One example I can think of would be in Episode 1, very early on in the classroom. I know for a fact there's one shot in the manga of a pair of nameless students jeering at Naruto, while in the anime, there's an exact replica with those students replaced by Choji and Shikamaru. Something like that would be an excellent representation of the trope and probably wouldn't require any kind of quote explanation.
Clock is set.
Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No further action is to be taken based on this thread.

Actually, I'm really not sure how to picture this without having to know a lot about X or Y fandom.
