1. Ruby has been pounding the pavements looking for work. She may have covered a few miles.
2. Lita and Minew are drawn in rather different cartoon styles. Bringing them together would just look weird.
3. New Sandra... Me-owww.
= Spindriver =Oh suuuuureeee, she tells her everything. Riiiiight.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.New (NSFW) MA 3. In which Gary is immensely comfortable with his heterosexuality
He's really getting dragged along, now isn't he?
I'd say it's more like being tugged
He's being jerked around.
They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver! It's going to get him screwed, though.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |I read your comments before I read the comic.
Then, realization.
New MA3, Gary continues to be nervous and unsure of himself, Matt continues to be... well, Matt.
New SDB, Ruby was so stunned by this turn of events she almost got through a full comic strip before the Delayed Reaction caught up to her.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |New Ma3 strip. Kiley is trying slightly too hard with that costume, but who cares? And Gary is really not trying hard enough.
(Also, No Sandra... this week.)

= Spindriver =I disagree. She is trying exactly as much as she should be for the subject matter.
Should've just called herself "Kitten".
The sad, REAL American dichotomyI wish we'd seen her train ride.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.I'm assuming that, in the split second before frame 1, there was a blur of motion in which she shucked a trenchcoat, hurled it onto a peg by the door, and put the mask on. Sonya may not be the only cast member with sex ninja training.
Also, new SDB strip. Ruby's horizons continue to expand so fast that the signal is red-shifted, and her subconscious continues to run amok, but she continues to be likeably nerdy.
= Spindriver =She's gonna have a Stupid Sexy Flanders moment after this, isn't she?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Life is pretty much one continuing such moment for Ruby at the moment. She doesn't want to admit to being attracted to anybody, but she's surrounded by good-looking people and has a fairly average sort of functional libido.

= Spindriver =New Ma3 strip. Comedy is everyone acting in character, basically.
= Spindriver =Lying by ommission is Exact Words, or Metaphorically True?
Heh, poor Ruby. I think Angel already knew that she didn't mean to insult gays, but decided to pull her leg for a little fun as well as to teach her a little lesson in tact.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Well, it's an Exact Words follow-up to a huge (if essentially harmless) flat-out lie. It's really just Kiley getting desperate because the outright lie misfired so horribly.
And yes, I imagine that Angel had a pretty good idea what Ruby really meant - but Ruby does come across as a bit prudish and conservative, so she was just probing Ruby's real meanings and intentions (so if Ruby really was being an ass about anything, Angel could have told her so), and yeah, teasing a bit.
Ruby's Character Development is fairly dramatic here, anyway; she's outright admitting that she's not only interested in yaoi, but interested in it for the sexy bits - and trying to tie that things to actual sexual practices. I kind of suspect that she'll be accepting Andy's offer of a second date in the near future - not to go to bed with him, but just to dip another toe in the water of romantic relationships.
= Spindriver =I doubt there'll be any permanent effect on Ruby here.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Explicit and specific effects of this specific conversation - maybe not, but who knows. But Ruby has stolen the spotlight and is running with it on a fairly dramatic Character Development arc, and this encounter is another part of that. She's already a significantly different person to the one who came through the door two hundred strips ago, and I'm pretty sure that this little shopping expedition is going to move her on a few more steps, one way or another.
Apart from anything else, this conversation has just attached a whole new level of significance to any scene in which she brings Rudy back.
= Spindriver =New Sandra... Lavali suffers; Eva hits her mark.
= Spindriver =... Are ten-year-olds really that "mammary-obsessed"?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
I wonder how far away those two stores are from each other, and also if Minew will ever meet Lita.
