The clearest statement of tropishness I can find on The Good Captain is this: "The upshot of this is that characters whose names begin with "Captain" are almost always good, unless explicitly subverting this or a Nazi"; i.e., in superhero works, characters named Captain [Whatever] can be presumed to be on the Good Guys' side unless they are explictily stated to be Bad at some point.
So your YKTTW is closely related, but not the same.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Captain Super would be a better name. This is one of those tropes that benefits from a more restrictive name.
Fight smart, not fair. You know, I remember a Whos The Boss episode, where it mentioned a fake superhero by that name. I just don't feel right making that show the trope namer.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. The whoesy what now? I just made that shit up.
Fight smart, not fair.I was just commenting on the coincidence. Anyway, this trope is apparently about personality plus name, so a title should make that clear.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. That could work.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Captain Righteous will be mistaken for a real superhero.
We're not just men of science, we're men of TROPE!But as far as I can tell, the trope is about superheroes. Unless I'm reading it wrong.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. That's what I got, too. Several examples would fit better in The Captain.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Yeah, this trope reads like it should be about superheroes that are named captain for no apparent reason, like Captain America and Captain Planet.
However, it looks like lots of the examples are characters like Captain Kirk and Captain Picard that are named captains because that is the military rank they hold or are captains of a ship. I say make this Captain Superhero and send the non-superhero examples to The Captain
Nevermind the previous. Captain Super Hero was launched. Are we done here?

Wait, so now we have this and Captain Superhero at the same time? Looks like some wires got badly crossed there.
Found out about the trope The Good Captain when I made this ykttw. Now I'm not trying to change this trope to get that trope in there. I'm not above merging them if they were the same. In fact, I would insist on renaming if they were merged.
The thing is this trope apparently has a few possible definitions. One is about giving superhero names starting with "captain". If that is the case, the trope title seems like a benevolent leader, more than just a naming convention. Another possible definition is that putting "captain" at the beginning of your title denotes goodness, which I guess is separate, but even then the name implies only half the trope.
Anyway, I'd like to discuss this trope, get the definition clear, get a better name if it turns out the current one doesn't fit, and then I can see if that ykttw I made is redundant (which means I will gladly discard as we already have it) or separate.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
