Figures Mary Sue the Xenon would be the one to carry me to the Big Bang Colosseum. *Sigh* And I accidentally skipped over it, so she's going in storage for another year and I am not gonna use my precious Golden Peach on combining fodder.
To fill the time, I'm training a Color Pandora. Because... I've never raised one before. They're weird little buggers. Why would you change the fact that Life is one of their biggest stats? They need all the life they can get because most of their moves are double-edged! Sigh. Oh well. At least a fall trip to Kawrea/Volk has ensured I will not need to worry about Pillbug's life any time soon.
I would boot up MR 2 as well to raise that Phoenix some, but Eternal Eyes is too distracting on that system...
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaColor Pandoras are weird. i remember being so excited when i learned they were rare and unique in Monster Rancher 2...and didn't know how to raise one at ALL. D: i think it ended up dying.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Their design was actually reasonably cute in MR 2. For the other games... It's a matter of taste, definitely.
Luckily, I managed to download a program that allows me to make a CD for just about any 'mon, provided I have one to burn.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaYou know, EVO was my first MR game, and I honestly couldn't imagine it any other way. I did play the first two, though. And I gotta say I think I prefer 1 to 2. Lesiones, Worms, and Garums (Tiger/Lesione) are my favorites.
I saw you added a trope page for it!
The Protomen enhanced my life.Yup. I was flabbergasted that none of the main series games had a trope page, so I wanted to kick off the trend with the only game I've played enough of to make one. My goal is to get it longer than the Monster Rancher page.
I imagine EVO is probably more enjoyable if you don't have a background in the series. It's still a fun game, it's just a pretty big departure from the others.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaNot gonna lie, it isn't as personal as the older ones. I feel a lot less connected to my guys in EVO than I do to my two in MR 1 and 2.
Monster Rancher 2 has so many fond memories attached...
I remember I got it around summertime and spent the entire summer playing it with my sister.
Of course, we sucked balls, and only one of our monsters ever made it past C-rank.
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderAny Monster types you loved/hated? I usually train Pixies or Suezos, and don't train Gaboos or Apes.
The Protomen enhanced my life. There are very few monster types I hate; even the ones I don't like very much, I'll still try to train them or find redeeming values in them.
That said, I'm not big on Gaboos or Metalners. The Gaboos remind me of baby poop (sorry, but it's what they remind me of) and I just can't get past the Metalner's huge ears.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI had fond memories of training my pets in Advance 2... and then they died. And I was like, "Wha...?" I could never make it past B Class because I spent so much time training and entering non-ranking tourneys and going on expeditions that I never climbed the ranks. See the little fellas go just made me very sad.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadI don't think the Advance games had death, did they?
The Protomen enhanced my life.Hm... unless my memory's really foggy, they definitely did in Advance 2, as it happened to me at least 4 times. At the very least, they "grew old" in that game.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadYeah. they grew old so you could freeze them or retire them as coaches for training.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I finally got Monster Rancher Evo! :D
The Protomen enhanced my life.Is it any good?
Don't know yet. i find it appropriate that the monster you first get is a Piroro, a clown-like creature as befits the circus theme.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Just got reminded of an Epic Fail i performed in MR 2. When I was little I was really into combining monsters. So one day I started a new game, summoned as many monsters as I could, and combined them all!
And then I ran out of money before even reaching the ranch. It should be noted that I wasn't trying to do that.
The Protomen enhanced my life. Why I like free fusions best; yup.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaProperly tried EVO. It's...Nintendo Hard. darn minigames. :(
The Protomen enhanced my life.Well, it is Monster Rancher.
Can you get stats by doing dungeons in that game, like you can in 4? I don't rightly recall.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaNot sure. I remember 4's dungeons let you get moves and traits, as well as stat-raising items for combining.
Also binging on the anime.

I had a Draco Mocchi too! I didn't know the Dragons and their subspecies don't live very long :(
