Question: how long is Xillia? If you need to play it twice to get the full story, I'd hope it wouldn't be too long.
You can more or less just play Jude's side and the entire story is more or less revealed. And you can beat Jude's side in 45-50 hours, 55 if you do the bonus dungeon and at least 60-70 if you try to get every single title outside of the few one or two you can only get on Milla's side.

The holidays are almost over, and I haven't progressed Hearts at all! 
The fic has me completely absorbed, as well as not having time to hijack the good PC to fire up the emulator.
It's a shame that out of 15 games, Europe got less than half and out of those, just 4 of them include a Spanish option. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to correct such a huge wrong in this universe and introduce Tales to a big number of language handicapped gamers.
Heavy stuff. But I like its ultimate goal. When I finish Rebirth it's Legendia's turn. Legendia is cool! We should talk more about it. Sapphire was gonna try it, and Lu has access to it, but was spoiled by cooler games.

I was going to play it. Probably later this summer.
Got to Atherum and Patty finally joins. She's...the weirdest playstyle ever.
Her regular weapons are guns and knives, but her artes use whatever crap she summons out of hammerspace, like fish, jack-in-the-boxes, frying pans, gamble cards, etc.
She has three styles, and each influences her artes and attacks. Normal (which does verything mediocrely), Advance, which favors close-range physicals, Brainel, which favours magic and long-range skills and Critical, which is strong at everything.
These artes are so overwhelming. Looking at all the different forms they take, it's going to take a while.

One skill you should look at is Hyper Form Up II. It raises her Over Limit level by one when she enters Critical Form. It's very abusable
Her initial form up arte is nowhere near that good. Boooooo¬
Holy cow, pirate ship boss almost kicked my ass. Fairly brutal jerk that almost gunned the crap out of me. Thank go for Repede being my item master. Seems like dreaded skeleton guy has something to do with Patty.
Off to sidequesting! Rita can speak to cats! Rita is the bestest. Judith is cool, but by far the hardest to use. Gonna have to work on my aerial combos.

She also gets skills that alter the outcomes of her artes, such as making the bad outcomes less probable.
She also also gets a skill that lets her choose the outcome of her spells to a certain extent, i.e. whether she uses an offensive or support spell in Brainel form.

And yeah, that's some awesome spell-guard cancelling. It's the same as in Symphonia. Though my favourite Vesperia combos are prolly the Judith pros. She's so good if you know what you're doing.
Also, I just put the veil attachment on Repede.

Vesperia's battle system is really easy to take advantage of. Though I guess that's why the bosses all have oceans of HP.

More importantly, how is Vesperia's battle system special compared to the others? I have the PS 3 version but unfortunately I never quite got far enough to get to the point of having enough artes to do anything more than the basics.

Some of the skills you can learn make it so if you do enough hits with a combo, you automatically go into Overlimit, it's what makes Yuri incredibly broken in combat and it's awesome.
It's the Sword Dancer.
He gets even more brokenon the PS 3 with Limits Team (activating OVL causes allies to go into it as well) and Limits Plus (activate OVL one level higher than your current gauge).
Speaking of which, Hearts R has a similar overlimit system, though far less abusable.

I don't know why, but (Sleigh? Slay? Leia the slaya?) might sort of grate my nerves if he turns out to be a standard hero. Way to early to make a call, but...eh. Knight-princess 'whatever her face' seems to be cool. Juries still out on the other three.
Slay is typical. He's been sheltered from the world in order to preserve his spirit from impurities, which is why he can see the Heavenly folks. He belives in the legend of the monks, a story which speaks of an ancient warrior that obtained the sword from the maiden of the lake. His dream is to unite the humans and the heavenly so they can live together again.
Alicia is the last in line to inherit the kingdom's throne. She doesn't care, and only serves as a knight to protect people. She strongly opposes corruption and appears kind of surprised when Slay helps her without asking questions. She's shocked when she realises Slay can really see the Heavenly.
Edna...seems to be Rita 2.0. She hates humans and acts super tsundere. "Don't take it the wrong way, I didn't mean to help you." She can use Earth heavenly artes and some water.
Lyra is a Heavenly that can use the element of fire. She has been waiting for someone with a pure heart to form a marriage contract and make him a priest. This is needed in order to cleanse the impure monsters. Lyra also happens to be kinda crazy. "This is the vigor of youuuuuuth~ indeed." She tells Slay hat picking up the holy sword means becoming a vessel for her, but he's cool with it.
Mike just says that uniting the two races is just as much a dream of his as it is Slay's.
Battle system is not open-world, as it appears. It's called the Fusionic Chain Linear Motion Battle System. Humans cannot use magic, only the Heavenly folks can.

Hm, the more I see of Zesty, the more I feel uncertain about its setting/atmosphere. I'm not sure what makes it different from other Tales games(Other than looking darker, I guess?), but Zesty's setting bothers me.
With that said, Mikurio/Miklio/Mikleo/however the hell his name is spelled seems coolio so far. That scene about 'our dream' in the trailer makes me like him, again for a reason I don't really know myself. Slay himself might or might not become someone epic, but at this point I feel skeptical.

Vesperia progress. Got to Nordopolica, got tricked by that asshole from Ruin's Gate. Flynn vs Yuri in the colisem is awesome, and...Patty is Airfread's granddaughter. Ok, who cares. GOT MY ARTES BALL, WHICH MEANS 16 ARTES SET AT ONCE. Hell yes, now I can have some fun. Oh god, it's Zagi with a crazy blastia again. Somebody get that asshole off my back.
Also, here's Yuri's skill from the PS 3 version. Stupidly broken.
Hey now, I love Ivar...for being a deconstruction on just how annoying idiot hero's can be. Now if only he was a box of ignorant joy and stupidity instead of being a aggressive asswipe, he would've been perfect.
On a different note, I recently read an interview where namco (Or at least a spokesperson anyway) acknoledged that IOS Phantasia had some "mixed reviews". Don't worry To P, your day will come...eventually.
