About Kanon's route: I think the whole point of Kanon's route is that you ARE supposed to despise her mother. Yet, for Kanon, no matter how annoying and interfering her mother was, her love for her mother ultimately overcame her frustration and she managed to accept her mother for who she was. Kanon's mother seemed to realize just how much pain she was causing her daughter at the end, after all. I found it one of the more touching moments of the novel, actually.

Yuki should have had a route, not Mizuha. Mizuha was so pointless. I don't dislike her and she can be genuinely funny sometimes, but she just felt like she was shoehorned in so they could have a tsundere.

EVERY VN needs a twin-tailed Tsundure. It's like in the "create a VN" manual.
Sharin no Kuni didn't have one.
A Yuki route could have been rather good. It probably would have had to involve Kyousuke going out of his way to save her ass. Flesh out her family maybe. Who knows? Mizuha didn't have a story to tell, so they told us a bit more of Yuki's instead.

For a VN like this though, especially with how it ends, a fandisc seems quite unlikely, as sad as that is. We'll never get a Yuki route.

I realized two things while browsing the G-Senjou CG set:
First, Kyousuke is obviously light brown haired, while Kyouhei is very obviously greyish. Even in different lighting, this remains the same. So with this in mind, perhaps the writers meant for Maou's identity to more than likely not actually be Kyousuke and intentionally made these differences as they are.
Second, I found out that Eiichi is in exactly one CG.

I was actually half-expecting Eiichi to be Maou. He was the only candidate apart from Kyousuke which wouldn't create a plothole at first, he looks somewhat like Maou, and it would just.. fit his true evil personality as Not So Harmless. But well.. too bad he wasn't.
That doesn't work. I know that doesn't work. It can't possibly work.
And yet..
There seems something just incredibly right about Eiichi walking (like a badass) through the smouldering remains of the Business District, negotiating with the cops, wearing a Badass Longcoat and generally being a total boss.
It's music like that that makes me pray to GOD that this gets an animated adaptation. I reckon we could get 24-25 episodes out of Haru's route, don't you agree? And it'd be especially epic if they kept the voice cast.
Mainly because of Yuki.

Even though the Fur Elise remix was itself a cool track, I was kind of disappointed in it as an adaptation of Fure Elise. It doesn't sound nearly similar enough, unlike many others.
An anime, though, would be pure awesome. It'd totally blow Death Note out of the water, assuming it got attention.

Hm, I kind of doubt this or Sharin No Kuni will ever get an anime. And if they did I'm not sure how big of a budget would be possible and thus the quality might kind of suffer.
I imagine they would just include those routes material into the main story as best as possible.

You know, it bugs me a little that the whole 'Kyousuke is Maou' theory makes no sense once you know what the characters know. Usami had no reason to be suspicious of someone who was her own age when the terrorist who killed her mother was clearly a young adult. Granted, her internal monologue says around this point that in her heart she wasn't really suspicious of him despite all the evidence, but the evidence actually pointed to it not being him.

Kyousuke is at least a few years older than Usami: she's high school age, but Kyousuke is at least twenty, and reportedly seems pretty old himself.
And, maybe she just wanted Kyousuke to be Maou. It'd make her whole ordeal a lot easier to conclude, and in fact she was probably being suspicious of him in the first place because not only did he make himself kind of suspicious, it makes sense for her to mess around with him like that. She's a weird character.

They're the same age. About. Kyousuke is 19 at the start and she's 18 at the youngest. I assume, however, that they are the same age period. Either way, her mom died when she was 13~ and the person she saw was clearly an adult. And from how old we know Maou to be, he should have been 23 or 24. Kyousuke was 13 then. No way does he pass for an adult at 13.
And in her own words she intellectually found him suspicious, but in her heart trusted him completely. But she shouldn't have found him suspicious even theoretically.
Oh, she's over 18.

Ah, the Maou reveal. Honestly, I felt that the foreshadowing for his identity was too obvious. That's what I meant about not being subtle. So with that in mind I at least knew who it wasn't.
