Excellent advice for devs and gamers alike.

Well, that episode pretty much nailed why I stopped playing Path of Exile. When I stopped to look at it for a second I was grinding so that I could get better gear so I could grind so I could get better gear.

Don't get me wrong, it was fun for a little while, and the game was free, but then it just got boring.

Pretty much all games that take after Diablo do that. I never understood the hate people had for Diablo 3... I mean, I played it and thought there where some legitimate complaints in an overall fun game, but a lot of gamers where essentially complaining that their skinner box wasn't skinny enough.

Diablo was actually pretty good about it.

Diablo 2 was where the dark descent into the skinner box happened.

Though yeah, I watch Let's Plays to see games that I can't acquire. (AKA every console game I'm vaguely interested in) I guess it would fulfill my want for that.

Yeah, I've been pointing out the discrepancy between console hardware and console sales for a long time. Wonder if they'll listen to EC if not me.

Sony would be wrong in the head if they didn't offer some way of editing your videos.

I admit that its possible that since PS 4 is supposedly not going to be that expensive and its apparently easier to develop four that it probably has advantage over Wii U, but I find it annoying when people think its because of console specs :P

I could see them realizing the need for editing early in and then offering it as a service or a one time fee app.

On the whole Specs don't matter it seems they kinda missed the point of why people are talking about specs for the PS 4 and they even touched on it and yet ignored it.

The reason people are talking about the specs for the PS 4 is because the PS 3 was hard to develop for and was expensive do to the Cell Processor(and the Blu-Ray) which pretty much cost it exclusives and and sales which pretty much put the console in last place.

The fact that the specs for the PS 4 are more assessable and cheaper means that Sony sees their mistakes and things might be on the up and up for them. But it won't be the sole reason it succeeds.

SNES beat out Genesis and 3DO because it was the best of both worlds. Cheaper and had decent specs, and the only reason a lot of those systems were beat was because they came out later and there was NO reason to pick them up because the specs we essentially not next gen and not worth getting a new system over.

Hmm. Really, really big food for thought. -ponders the variety in games I play-

I went to the arcade the other day, and decided to pull out the best game in the least varied genre: Time Crisis 3. It's in a genre that is about as unvaried as you can get, but... it STILL manages to do this in a fantastic way. Honestly.

(Time Crisis 3 is awesome.)

This is the key that makes Final Fight so awesome too.

4x Not really, I mean yes; some people are excited that it's easier to develop for. Although most people just know that it has good hardware and believe falsely that better hardware always means it's the better system or are just outright being fanboys.

Plus the Wii U is supposedly easier to develop for than the Wii, and so many big publishers we so excited to use it; prior to launch in the official press vids and interviews only to express disinterest in the Wii U after the thing came out.

What was up with that anyway? Did they get interested in next console or something? :P

Probably the fan reaction to titles like Bayonetta 2 and that stupid perception that the Playstation and Xbox are the "real" consoles.

Or Nintendo paid them. Though that's me being cynical.

I think the devs are genuinely excited. The publishers, not so much.

The current episode, though, guys. I think more devs are realizing it, but it's leading to "Feature bloat" where we're introduced to mechanics that are never really used again. Like using the Dwarf-Gekko for stealth in Metal Gear Rising Revengeance or hunting for food in the new Tomb Raider.

Well, Tomb Raider, story wise, seems to ease Lara into the killing-things thing. And...well it's only for that area is where you will find deer and I presume there will still be deer for a late-game player to have fun with. It's tutorial-ish to me.

Thank the gaming gods they're not doing spoilers.
