It's been a while since I've seen it, and I don't remember it incredibly well, but I do remember it being incredibly awesome.

Watched this recently with a friend. Some hilarious comedy in there. If only the ending wasn't so damn depressing.

^^ While we're on the subject... Do you think Ray lived or died? Although his lines on Bruges being hell also made me think that he was stuck in a groundhog day loop and would have to live through the whole movie again, but at least he'd have more time with Chloe as a consolation prize.

Also, were we supposed to feel bad about Jimmy dying?

It didn't really hit me until today how much Chance affects the plot. It was by chance that Ray shot the little kid, and it was by chance that the Russian guy's kid saw Ray in Bruges and got to tell Harry about it. I mean, there's even a shot where you see Ken and Harry walk right by Ray and Chloe and nobody notices anything; everything would've been fine even if Ken's plan to get Ray out of Bruges didn't work, if it hadn't been for Russian Guy Jr.

I suppose you could go the other way, though—everything bad that happened to Ray was his fault; the ending was a result of the consequences of things he did coming back to bite him in the ass. It wasn't Chance that Ray shot the little kid, that never should've happened if he was more competent. Ray was arrested and brought back to Bruges because he picked a fight in the restaurant, and Russian Guy Jr.'s grudge against him was from shooting him in the eye, which was totally unnecessary. watched this scene again, and it was in self-defense, so it was rather necessary. Still though, it comes down to something Ray did that came back to bite him in the ass.

Hmmm. Am I reading too much into this?

The puts Bruges forward as a kind of Purgatory, which either means he gets the good ending or else he's stuck between a good ending and a bad one.

I didn't find it a very good comedy but it is a good movie.

[up][up] I think we can certainly feel sympathy. He may have been the antagonist and a killer but both the other main characters were too and he had some sort of a moral code. He was kind of a Lawful Stupid / Lawful Evil though.

Great movie that gets very contemplative while also keeping a lot of humor.

It's also number two on my list of movies that got dicked by their advertising. #1 was Bridge To Terabithia.

In Bruges was good but it felt Guy Ritchie Lite in places (but thankfully not the crap that Nick Love churns out, which is basically this).

The Guard was a much better film from the McDonagh brothers.

I am in love with this movie. It is one of my all-time favorites.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.

loved it, one of the best dark comedies out there [[spoiler:best part was when harry shot ray but shot the midget as well, then as ray tries to tell harry no he's not a little boy, harry believing he has done just what ray did (the reason harry wants ray dead) sticks to the principles he told ken earlier and shoots himself. that is what i call irony combined with a really sick and twisted brick joke]]

Great film. We Irish know how to do comedy. I mean, where I live is where Jimmy Carr was born.

They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!
