Is it really that arduous to transfer the data over, though? Most people are just gonna do that anyway.
Meh. Generic fantasy orchestral music mixed with generic electronica that doesn't sound much like the original song. It's more energetic once it picks up in the middle, but still sounds really generic, but I'm just really meh on it. Also, I could've sworn I heard the Star Wars Cantina theme in there somewhere.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMSome want to have their old data on the Wii. So yes. It's kind of ridiculous that you can't save any game's save on the SD Memory Card. I'm not going to transfer all of my data over to the Wii U when I have a perfectly working Wii. I also cannot make two different Brawl Datas without using multiple Wiis. It's very annoying and frankly pretty stupid to do that.(many like having multiple saves of any game, that should not be denied for any reason, especially when it's not a separate cartridge either)
And yeah, the song didn't sound that awesome to me. It was fine to have, but wasn't groundbreaking, imo.

Quest 64 threadI hope the Ice Climbers stick around. It's nice having retro characters.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!*shrug* Just wasn't too impressed.
Now, maybe something like this I can dig:

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.@Anom: Only cuts I'll accept are ones from Pokemon or Fire Emblem at best. Everything else? Uh-uh. Would rather no cuts, everyone comes back, and more characters.
@Odd1: As long as we can get it by another method, it's fine. Making it Old Save Bonus only is a bad idea. It'll just piss people off. Mario Kart Wii has more than one way to get Rosalina. You could get it through Old Save Bonus or a lot of races. Both were fine. Besides later made DLC, make everything available by playing your own game(or in the case of Pokemon, through two games), and you're good. Or atleast allow one to get an Old Save Bonus through a memory card only. If you have to start a new game or do a very long transfer, it's annoying if there's no other option.

Quest 64 threadOh, I'm sure they'd make them unlockable in some other way (probably "play X number of Title Drop" or "play with this character X number of times" for most of them)—the Old Save Bonus method would be to unlock them right away.
And I believe Iwata wants to reduce the total number of characters in general, from what I've read in interviews/articles.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMHmm. Less characters means a lot more balanced. On the other hand, that's not a very good reason. I'd rather have more, even if the balance is not nearly as good.
Quest 64 threadIt's his series. If that's what he wants to do, then he has the right. Besides, he said specifically that he thinks there's enough characters at this point, and while I do have characters I'd like to see in the game, he does have a point—you can only have so many characters, and only so many of those can be completely unique. The more characters and uniqueness in their moves, probably the longer and longer the development time takes.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. If it has less characters than Brawl, this means one of two things:
- a) There will be bearly any new characters, since almost all of Brawl's are perfectly valid to return.
or
- b) There will be heaps of old characters who are perfectly valid who will not retuen to make room for new characters.
And this is why the roster should not be smaller than Brawl's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMYou're misreading. It was said that they wouldn't be focusing as much on new characters as they would be balancing the old ones. They certainly won't lower the character count, and I have a feeling there will still be newcomers even if it's only a few compared to the previous two boosts.
Though really, I imagine they might even go back on that if the people ask for enough characters or they have enough time, I'm sure they're pretty flexible.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Maybe. But balance is also a very important thing to many.
Exactly. 39 is a huge amount, admittably. And they were terribly balanced. A lot weren't even needed. Did we need a 3rd Star Fox character? Toon Link as well? R.O.B.? All of Pokemon Trainer?(Charizard could've worked) Those are just some ideas of those who could be gone. Not saying people should be replaced, of course. I'm against that.
But hey, his opinion. I prefer more characters with not perfect balance. I wouldn't be surprised if character exclusives are included in the 3DS and Wii U versions, requiring connecting for the full list at this point. I don't mind it, though. But it is annoying for some.

Quest 64 threadHeh, I wonder if they'll allow you to use a 3DS as a controller for the console version
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I have a feeling that'll happen.
Quest 64 threadI don't really want to see any of Brawl's current roster disappear. I can kinda get why some of Melee's disappeared. Dr. Mario was a sort of silly idea, Young Link was replaced with Toon Link for better series representation (Having both would be somewhat redundant since they're both still "young Links"), Roy was only in as advertisement in the first place, Pichu was a joke, and Mewtwo... it was sort of a sad loss. I think it was partly because of how many people were annoyed at Mewtwo's poor representation?
Meanwhile, none of Brawl's characters really have any outstanding reasons to be dropped. The only two I could concieve of being dropped are Pokemon Trainer, not so much as a drop but replacing his Pokemon with different Pokemon, and Lucario, since the fourth generation is no longer the recent one (Not that that's a good excuse since it fits perfectly regardless of generation).
Personally, I'd gladly sacrifice a little balance for a few more characters, though if they can manage to achieve both balance and a large roster that would be grand.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Heck no!
That is not a valid excuse at all.
We could have if they weren't yet another clone.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8yAjWvAqyMI think the current character count should at least stay as is. That doesn't mean new characters can't join, they'd just replace old ones. Still I would like to see at least four new characters. Then they can have 39 slots which works out to four rows of ten plus a random selector.
I can't wait to be able to bring my 3DS with my SSB game and kick my friend's ass on her console...

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenI'd really rather not see anyone get dropped.
Also, making it a rectangular grid shouldn't be the measure used to decide how many characters. Melee had a fat T-shape, it's just that Brawl's character selection just so happened to be a nice number like 35+random=36.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Only four new characters? Nah. Minimum 10. Even if some have to dropped(hopefully not) for it.
40 full characters should be the minimum. 45-50 would be a good number, although I'm for 55 total as is.
Quest 64 threadWell, the first game had 12, the second game had 25 (26 with Sheik), and the third had 35 (39 with all transformations).
Personally I'd like to shoot for around 44-48 individual characters, discounting transformations. That would be a 9-13 character increase compared to the 13 for Melee and the 10 for Brawl.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I wouldn't mind around ten new characters. Counting replacements and transformations it would bring us up to 50 which seems like a nice number to me.
