I only claim waifus ironically.

<fixes scarf, sips coffee>

Speaking of waifus, I have discovered that I have somehow obtained two Samus amiibo... I have the urge to train one of them to spam constantly and sell or trade it off.

Is one of them the ever-rare double armgun Samus? If they're both the same, paint one as Dark Samus instead. I mean, let's be real, the chances of a Metroid amiibo set(meaning we're getting two Metroid series amiibo in general, which is the two SSB characters) aren't very high, so take what you can get.

I've realized how my Smash 4 mains have changed since the Wii U version launched:

  • When it launched, I mained Mega Man, with Sonic, Fox, and Mii being my secondaries
  • When Mewtwo came out, I mained Lucina with him as a secondary
  • When Ryu, Roy, and Lucas came out, I mained Ryu with Roy and Sonic as secondaries
  • Ever since Cloud's release, I've mained him with Mario, Sonic, Captain Falcon, Ness, Ryu, Bayonetta, and Falco as my secondaries.

My best is Wario, followed by (in no specific order) Mr. G&W, Yoshi, Gorgonzoladwarf, and Robin, but I like to play Random most of the time.

My Sheik, Palutena, and Duck Hunt are a bit sloppier than I'd like, though, and when I play Rosalina I tend to focus too much on Luma and wind up leaving Rosalina open, but I'd like to think I'm better than the average player in that regard at least.

I started out as a Ness main, because I was familiar with him in 64 and Maine Lucas in brawl. Then about a month after the game came out I played classic as Ike and I knew he was the one.

Stull main Ike, with Ness as second, but I also play a decent Bowser, Little Mac, abd Lucas. Also recently picked up Dr. Mario.

I main Bowser, which I've wanted to do since Melee but couldn't because I found his moveset too awkward. (And his animation too off-putting. What was his run even supposed to be?! He looks like he's propelling himself forward using rocket-powered farts!) Now that he's been revamped, he's a joy to play as.

I also like (in no specific order): Peach, Wario, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Toon Link, Captain Falcon, Corrin, and Mega Man. I am a very eclectic casual scrub.

I started using Boozer in Brawl and found him fun, but his revamp for this game makes him much better. I do kinda miss his stupid run animation, though.

Still feel that his dash attack should have been the sliding haymaker from Bowser's Inside Story rather than just a flying kick, though. Missed opportunity.

Frankly, I think that a lot of characters, even non-clones, need to have their movesets revamped (though obviously the clones should be top priority, especially Ganondorf).

Case in point: Donkey Kong. How nuts is it that he doesn't have a barrel-throwing move? That should be his side-B (the headbutt should be his side smash instead). If I'm Donkey Kong, I wanna throw some damn barrels!

I also think his up-B should be a barrel cannon. Like, hold B longer to launch him farther, but if you hold it too long, the barrel cannon explodes, hurts you, and puts you in free-fall.

See also: Yoshi. I'd move the egg throw to neutral B, the tongue to side-B, and the egg roll to up-B. I'm assuming the egg roll is based on that thing from Yoshi's Story where he eats a tulip, turns into a giant egg, and bounces sky-high, so that makes more sense to me as a recovery.

I'm fine with DK just being good at throwing the Barrel items rather than having an explicit barrel-throw move, personally.

Well, it's one of many examples of a character's defining attribute not being represented in Smash. Donkey Kong happens to be my favorite Nintendo character, so the fact that he can't throw dem barrels has always been something of a sore spot for me.

Technically the DK in Smash is not the one from the original Arcade game. It's the one from the DKC games-onward.

Although DK can throw barrels in the Country series, he isn't defined by barrels the way Cranky is.

All of those Yoshi changes would be terrible...in a not good way.

Why would an Up Special cause you to speed forward?

Why would his tongue be a Side Special when it's always just been a single button press.

Using Eggs as Neutral Special would be like Metal Blades but worse because they arc.

Also, Giant DK seems to be a reference to the Donkey Kong in the original arcade games instead. Regular DK is apparently DK Jr. as grown up. I don't remember if the latter is actually confirmed or nothing more than a theory.

Nintendo goes back and forth on whether arcade!DK and Country!DK are the same or not. Rare always maintained that Cranky Kong is the original arcade Kong, but his relationship to the "modern" Donkey Kong was never made clear. Sometimes he'd be Cranky's son (which I guess makes him a grown-up Donkey Kong Jr.) and sometimes he'd be his grandson. According to the Donkey Kong Country manual, Cranky is Donkey's "pappy," which could mean either father or grandfather!

I try not to think about it too much. But when you think Donkey Kong, you think barrels and the throwing thereof, so I'd still like to see that as one of his specials.

[up][up][up] The up-B egg roll wouldn't sent you careening forward, it'd send you up, like in Yoshi's Story. I guess they could rename the move "Egg Rocket" or something. I think it's weird that Yoshi does canonically have a move where he turns into a giant egg and moves at high speed, but it was always used to send you upward, not sideways.

I guess the other two can be changed around. Neutral B for tongue, side-B for the egg throw.

The closest to help suggest DK Jr. is Cranky's son is that in Super Mario Kart to Mario Kart 64, DK Jr. is replaced by Donkey Kong. But that's about the only implication at best that exists. Others are at best stated in various games.

Did DK Jr. ever reappear in a Mario Kart game after Super Mario Kart? At best it helps the theory of mine, but it obviously doesn't confirm anything.

[up]And DK Jr appeared alongside Country!DK himself in Mario Golf.

Then again, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi appear alongside their adult selves on numerous occasions.
