Super Smash Bros.

Me, I just accept that I lack the dexterity to be particularly good at this game, and just have fun with it from there. You win some, you lose some.

I tried to get into the community for a bit. But it was too confusing for me to keep track of and figure out how to interact with anyone since I don't have competitive-level knowledge, or know what any of the tournaments are or who to consider watching, and I didn't want to be one of those guys who just incessantly goes "I wanna play but I dun no how to get gud, someone halp"

It doesn't help that the few times I did ask for clarification on things got completely ignored....

I don't even watch tournaments really I just get the status of how things are going from other people

I'm in a weird boat:

I'm better than a lot of my friends except for one of them. We can be about equal.

Let's go back to debating about Ganondorf, shall we?

This guy is pretty interesting, too.

I'm about evenly matched with most of the people I play Smash with. Heck, that's really the only way I like playing Smash with other people, namely in-person rather than online.

Every time I've gone online lately it's either laggy or I fall victim to the The Worf Effect to levels that are almost ludicrous (to the point that it was almost as if the other players were somehow reading my input as I was pressing the buttons). I've pretty much given up on playing on For Glory at this point unless I try to contribute to a Conquest.

I fucking love Lylat Cruise.

One of the small things I like is that throughout the entire Smash series, Donkey Kong has gotten progressively better. Using these tier lists for the four Smash games, Donkey Kong went from bottom 4 in Smash 64, barely escaping low tier in Melee, firmly in mid-tier for Brawl, and high tier in Smash 4. I think Donkey Kong is the only character from the Original 12 to achieve this feat.

Meanwhile, Fox has almost been consistently high tier.

I wouldn't call 25 out of 58 high. That's barely above average.

DK is mid-tier

I am incorrect about DK being high tier, but he's only two spots away from the high tier and I think he has the potential to go further up.

Top 25 of a 58 character game is impressive considering how you even to have worry about low tier characters if you're playing in a tournament for Smash 4.

If you ignore the lower rank characters, that puts Donkey Kong at the lowest rank. Donkey Kong is less impressive in the context of tournament play.

Why would you though? Plenty of characters below Donkey Kong can still make an impact on tournaments which should speak positively for Donkey Kong being the most viable he's ever been.

Yeah, tiers are almost meaningless in Sm4sh. It's like comparing 1.05 to 1.06.

Uh, no. That's wrong. Just because lower tiers can be a threat to higher tiers doesn't mean that they're almost meaningless. It just means that the game is at least pretty well-balanced.

If anything, they're more meaningful since they can be used to track how good a character is as the meta develops, and it's unlikely to stay static like Melee's has.

Patches seem to have stopped when they nerfed Bayonetta so now the meta will finally get a chance to settle down I suppose.

Those teir jockeys will finally be able to take a break...or work less.

Which is good on one hand, since it means the meta can develop and we can see a lot of these characters for their potential (like Mewtwo and Robin).

On the other, this means characters that need buffs likely won't get them, like Jiggs.

She doesn't need buffing...

Well she's about the one character everybody agrees is the worst in the whole game competitively.

Hell she's the character that got the closest to an unanimous placing.
