Yukari is not Australian enough to be the Australian Dragon God.

Kazami Yuka, “Master” of the four seasons

I always thought that Yuuka's portrayal as a flower youkai was a Phantasmagoria of Flower View retcon, but the way you tell it I could believe she was always one to begin with. Now I have to wonder if you've put more thought into it than ZUN did, if stuff like the Asteracae connection was a lucky coincidence or if he knew it all along.

Hey, did we ever get an Alice picdump? I'll just skim the first twenty or so pages of results and take a dip in a few choice pools...

My headcanon has it that Alice isn't Japanese, but a Westerner who eventually immigrated to Gensokyo by way of Makai. I'd like to suggest that she's Romanian (the Dollmaker of Bucharest), but Murgatroyd has an English etymology, so all bets are off. Maybe she's a naturally-"born" Makaijin who picked a weird name for herself. Maybe Shinki named her for the same reasons ZUN did.

I like the "Goliath Doll as a magical giant robot" thing that people have going — though I've yet to see anyone depict it performing a Rocket Punch, sadly.

As far as I know the only characters with a confimed non-Japanese nationality are Meiling (Chinese) and Parsee (Iranian). I think it's mentioned somewhere that the Scarlets come from Europe (Remilia claims descent from a Romanian, and Flandre is a French name).

Romania's turning up a lot, huh?

Love how the same title gets written three different ways.

Can I assume they're all hand-typed rather than cut-and-pasted?

Huh, funny. I know that the commas are Duraz' work, since he was the one who made Chen's profile. I know I took out the names separated by slashes at one point because they seemed to interfere with the formating... But if it works in the other link... I have no idea what happened there.

It was replaced. Thanks for the heads-up.

PS: Tacitus has good taste in the arts.

PPS: My write-up on Yukari is possibly my finest one so far in terms of concept, so I invite everyone who doesn't know it yet to check it out~

The Alice vs. Suika picture is one of the most awesome I've ever seen.

Since it's fresh in my mind from reading that Variant Youyoumu comic the other day, I might as well mention: I like the idea of Marisa firing Master Spark out of the mini-hakkero like it's a hand-held cannon. It seems fitting somehow.

I'm sure it's a common enough idea, but that comic in particular is what made me think of it.

By the way: that thing about Marisa's hat was a joke that doesn't make sense out of context. As difficult as it may be to believe, I don't actually believe that it's going to become an artifact of great archaeothaumaturgical significance. Obviously, its soul is tied to her own, and it will be reincarnated along with her. Even in rebirth, Marisa will never be without her hat.

I wonder if the Hakkero also produces punches from the punch dimension because without one of the templates, there's no way that the Master Spark doesn't snap Marisa's wrists like twigs.

'Magic' is a perfectly acceptable answer here. She could be shielding herself or it could just not have that much recoil. And using it does slow her to a crawl

Sure, why not?

Traditionally it's been the bomb associated with her Illusion Laser shot-type, so I think it's reasonable to think of it as laser-esque.

Laser-esque, sure. A laser formed by love amplification by stimulated emission of radiation has to be a bit different from the normal kind.
