Kory: i will need to do some more testing to see if the 500KB should be lowered even more but either way everyone can relax because the database will not crash or implode in anyway due to page size so splitting pages isn't a huge priority and is just more of a suggestion. For pages that actually load slow, splitting the pages will help slower internet users navigate these pages better.
It looks like pages over 500,000 characters (html formatted, that is) are crashing the server when someone tries to edit them. programmer's whine
They need to be fixed, anyway. Way too big for one page. They need to be broken up into subpages of a reasonable size.
I'm trying to get better about communicating before big changes, so we'll let this one run for a while before taking the action. The server crashes do come under the heading of 'urgent', though.

Split off the two franchises that were taking up more than a screen on mobile even in View Source mode, but downloading the page still produces a file nearly 750 KB in size. That doesn't mean we need to cut down the page by 250 KB since that includes stuff that doesn't count towards the limit, but it's still going to require cutting it down by a lot.
Edit: The largest remaining sections are, in alphabetical order, Dragon Age, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Fire Emblem, The Legend of Zelda, Metal Gear, Pokémon, Splatoon, and Team Fortress 2. If any of those would be too small for their own page, split the whole thing alphabetically, otherwise split all of those.

JustForFun.Grand Unified Timeline The Near Past And Future was added to the list. Since the “near future” part is growing closer and closer to being outdated, maybe it can be split into the 2010s and 2020s?

You might want to see my post above, I concluded that all the franchises/works I mentioned would need to be split off to get rid of the suggestion notice (though I think Metal Gear, Pokémon, and I want to say the third was Fire Emblem actually had the same number of bullet points so you might not need to get rid of all of them).
For Live-Action TV, only MST3K, Burn Notice, and Friends need to be split.

Just a doubt, is immediately splitting the pages really necessary? The warning is just a suggestion for now.
- Do you think it can shrink? Unlike other tropes, "Groundhog Day" Loop doesn't seem to have any subtropes that it could be cleaned into?
But since the servers aren't going to crash because of page length, do we know anything about the users with the lowest internet speeds and how these long pages affect them?

"Groundhog Day" Loop isn't the only form of time loop, Stable Time Loop is also mentioned. Not that I see how it's going to help with example cleaning, and also may not be for this place to decide trope relations.

@3368-9: My inclination is to continue to split by genre as there are already three genre split pages, but something like half the page is the Unsorted section so I don't know how much that helps. (Also, the biggest genre folder might actually be for Giallo, one of two folders that seem to be for foreign-language/country-specific genres populated by a single troper.)
