I think you may have been ninja'd.
Now... the voices and ..... —siiiiigh—... MO-tion-CAP-tured... actors can go any which way, so it will be hard for me to form answers that don't have multiple names to them. I think Danny DeVito will be perfect as Phoney.

I dont know if this was brought up. But is it possible that the Bones will be in CG while the humans are in mo cap? Just a thought.
That's pretty much how its going to have to go, unless they want to try and do such simple shapes with Mo-Cap.
In which case, God have Mercy on their souls, because the fans certainly won't.
Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority.Any chance that the images of the CG mocapped film of Bone is likely to cause serious Internet Backdraft?
That's the only way I can imagine it going properly.
YES.

x2. Cartoon Brew literally went Internet Backdraft once the news about the motion capture on Bone was announced. So its no doubt in my mind that Bone fans who werent aware of this are NOT going to be very happy about it.
Wanna know why? Because before the summer vacation started I made the announcement of the motion captured Bone at my graphic novel club. And needless to say, the feedback of it WASN'T pretty.
Yeah...this was an old post but,
I disagree. Hollywood people are 'very' smart. They just aren't very creative (there is a difference...supposedly).
Rather then take the time, the money, and the risk to accept an original concept, they would rather churn out half-baked projects that they know will generate money just because the audience is dumb enough to flock to it. If you ask me, this is insulting, un-creative, and a cancer to entertainment, but it is still "smart" because it will guarantee them money even in the short run rather than risk making a high-budget, high concept film that will only get cult status at best. Extremely well-made and extremely successful animated films are rarities nowadays and they would rather not put the effort into grappling with massive losses.
Despite overwhelmingly negative reviews, the Smurfs film was still a success mainly because parents saw the trailer and thought:
"oh, a Smurfs film. I know what smurfs are. This is familiar to me. My kids will eat this up just because they are kids and this will be a smurfs movie. Screw quality. It will keep them entertained. They like this stuff."
And the execs saw the money flow in from the box office and now are saying: "Yup, another tried and true formula at work. Let's release another "Alvin and the Chip—-er.... I mean—- Smurfs sequel."
I hate hollywood. I understand why my film friends prefer the indie scene.

"When lights out/I'm like a gremlin/Feed me hiphop and I start tremblin'"—Eric B. and RakimSo instead of calling Hollywood dumb, we should call the audiences dumb. :P
Hear that boys and girls? All the talent and skill you devoted your life to amounts to how much you are worth! Because everyone knows the world is about money. We CLEARLY won't be able to survive without it. We don't even need to eat, sleep, drink, socialize, or exercise, because money is what our bodies are made of......
Huh?
What's that?
Our bodies AREN'T made of money?! Oh well WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT?!?!?!?!!? -Unstoppable Rage through the city-

This is getting off topic. We should be talking about the Bone movie, not about Hollywood supposed decline or how EVIIIIIL! Motion Capture is.
For instance, thinking like we have the best case scenario and its all been animated by hand and the voice actors are brilliant and its got a huge budget and the best director ever is doing it, what would have to be changed, moving from door-stopper of a comic to trilogy of movies?
I, for one, think they should cut out the entire thing about Fone Bone's piece of Locust. It could easily be written out, as it served no purpose besides getting them into Ghost Circles and poisoning Thorn to add urgency to the Taren Guard bit. I really liked the idea of Fone being the one The Hooded One was after, but it was ultimately pointless during the climax.
Going back to early in the story, how do you think they should handle the sillyness? If they move too quickly, it feels out of place. Part of what made the transition so good was the fact it was a serial and had years to space it out. Even reading it all at once, its such a slow change of tone you really don't notice it until it all goes to Hell in Old Man's Cave.
Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority.Yeah, so unnecessary, I don't even remember it! :D I hope that Locust piece didn't affect Fone's Moby Dick dream, because that would offer entertaining possibilities.
With it being planned as a trilogy, they'll most likely reach into Eye of the Storm....... where it really gets serious! So they need to be careful on how the tone of the beginning should be. I think they should let the characters be as funny as they can be... but make the Valley forboding, damp, dark, creepy, and thick! They can keep the comedy there, but the surrounds can be as realistic and dangerous as possible.
Good idea. It would be a nice indicative that these guys belong on the Sunday Funny Pages and got really lost.
Anyone else?

Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority.x2. That may be the only way to go for the story. Although I'd be a very pissed off guy if they(ahem) ''force'' things into this film that have nothing to do with the comics. Then again, most people I know have no faith for this being good due to the sounds of it being done with motion capture.
Although just thought I'd ask this. Any chance for a Creator Cameo of Jeff in this?
Jeff doesn't strike me as a voice acting guy. His voice and way of speaking is extremely quiet and reserved. He could probably volunteer to act in mo-capped suits for a day, but who knows if he's up for that!
I really hope they animate the Bones the regular way, without mo-cap.
It would be nice to see Jeff have an appearance in this movie, but I wouldn't hold my breath though. What would work for him for an appearance? A towns-peasant giving Fone bone advice?
I'm thinking he makes a cameo that you have to be looking for to notice. That way, its unobtrusive to the casual viewer, but there for the fans who wanted it.
Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority. That could easily work
So it's probably going to be a straight-up comedy now?
All I can say is that it better be a good comedy.
I put on my robe and tinfoil hat...The director they chose has mostly done chick flicks - bad ones...
Best to give up hope on this one being any good IMHO. That, and the fact that it's being done in full mo-cap, which cheapens the product and any sense of raw effort put into it, royally.
If this gets negative reviews for looking creepy, people will know why.
This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_naciocome on people, mo-cap isn't that bad. tin-tins effects were fairly decent without looking creepy.
Well, the director also did the live-action Peter Pan.
Also, Jeff Smith revealed that Warner Bros. showed him a 4-minute scene by Animal Logic of Fone and Phoney running with a map, and recalled it "looked just like my drawings moving!" Maybe they ARE animating the Bones properly!
I been a fan of the comic for 16 years. I heard of the failed movie by Nickelodeon way back then. I decided i should see this even if it looks awful!

All I know is this if it turns out as good/entertaining as that Tin Tin film was, I can look back on that recent comment of mine and realize that we all make mistakes - mine being me overreacting a bit too much...
This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioWhy do I not pay attention?
Anyway, was that Peter Pan movie any good?

Don't know. I saw the trailer but all i could think of was, "Do we really need a bland live-action Peter Pan right now? Seems unnecessary."
Cool. I'll have to see that at some point.
Clever answer. You win an internet cookie. what flavor would you like?
Good argument. Not much to add, but I wanted to say it.
While we're on topic again, who do you all think would be the best choice for main characters? What about the worst?
