I can't prove to you I'm thinking, for all you know I could be an illusion, or a machine or whatever, the idea is that you can prove to yourself that you're thinking and therefore exist.

I.M.O, a sapient machine would, for all intents and purposes, be a person.
More to the point, I haven seen other people using the internet, so therefore not all posters on the internet can be machines.
Finally, temporality ignoring my second point, there is not real way to prove that the other posters here are machines, especially if they are sapient, and what cannot be porven ether way must be taken on faith.

Wow there's some deep stuff going on here. To comnment on the "I think therefore I am" stuff: If you do not exist you cannot think, so you cannot think you are thinking, so if you are in fact thinking you must exist. That's 1-0 for philosophy. ;) ( Great thing about philosophy is that it can actually prove things. )
