The stinger of the second movie is explanation that he cares, not why. It sort of implies he's doing the Stable Time Loop thing Homura style....which would be really cool if it turned out to be true, but there isn't that much evidence for it. So no, we don't know why he cares, just that he does for some reason.

He likes shinji, what other explanation you need? Why he likes shinji? becuase he does. Some attractions don't have a determinate reason. That's why attraction is ruled by emotion, not logic.

Sometimes I wish Kaworu had turned out to be a Gendo + Adam clone just for the irony.

He might have a personality then, so no.

It's cicular reasoning, duh, what did you expect? "One day, when shinji was going to grade school he found a lonely kid looking at the sky then a truck was passing by the street and shinji called him over and the kid reacted in time to avoid the truck? And the kid was Kaworu" Something like this? Not even in the original series was Kaworu's attraction to shinji explained beyond, he likes shinji.

In the original, it was more like he was normal compared to everyone else and displayed normal human kindness to Shinji, which was enough to make Shinji like him. Rebuild forced it alot, so sucked.

Normal? Let me take you to the communal waters, and, in the hot, moist air, seize your hand and say that I love you.

You know, I feel that 3.0 felt much more plot driven rather than character driven, despite it apparently being more about Shinji. Here, the characters act more because the plot has to get from point A to point B. I feel that this is the film's biggest flaw, especially after the previous film was much more character focused.

It doesn't help that it doesn't really develop the two who were the main focus of 2.0. Rather than continuing the journey of the ones who's journey has been the main focus, it get‛s sidetracked by side characters and messages.

As for Kaworu, what was the unique character trait that he had, other than his possible gayness for Shinji. Yeah, he's the most sympathetic, but that only comes about thanks to the plot demanding that everyone else act like jerks. He's a very static person.

Hi everyone! I just got back from Evangelion Night at my local movie theater! They screened Evangelion 1.0 and Evangelion 2.0 back-to-back (for 10€, a rather nice deal considering it was 3 hours and 40 minutes total) in preparation for Evangelion 3.0 on the 25th. I had already watched both movies on Blu Ray, but they're an entirely different experience on the big screen. I had a great time, now I'm stoked for You can (not) redo!

I'm looking forward to seeing what you think of it.

Also, apparently the preview for 4.0 that was featured at the end of 3.0 was created via motion-capture. Wonder how they'll use it in the actual film.

Probably not at all. How much have these previews had anything to do with the actual sequel previously?

The 2.0 preview that showed Mari and Asuka showing up? That happened. The 3.0 preview that showed a bunch of things that never happened on screen? Yeah◊.

So basically, the guys at Khara spent all that time and money for a motion capture scene that might not even be in the film.

Talk about wasteful.

Come to think about it, I'd SO watch a Reality Show or something about the wacky adventures of Drunk Hideaki Anno across Tokyo.

It's just going to be a movie of Misato's boobs captivating the audience.

The funny thing is, you don't even see Misato's breasts. You just see the audiences reaction.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if there actually is more fan service in FINAL, especially when you realize that Anno also directed this:

I'd expect more Fan Disservice, like GNR. didn't it promise fanservice for 2 previews in a row? Can't see getting a new joke now.

I'm pretty sure we got fanservice in the previous Rebuild films.

I have no idea why people are claiming that the previews from Misato are lying.

After all Mari is a prime example of that

Instead of staring at audience's reactions during the movie a mirror gets brought up mid-movie covering the whole screen showing us our own image as Rei and Shinji narrate.
