Someone needs to put in the Hype Backlash against a new generation of tropers.
...what?
It is pretty similar to his earlier comic about wiki walking.
Back when I was a fan of xkcd, a good half of the appeal was in the fact that R Munroe was restating things that I already felt, but in a pithy, funny way. The hatedom claims that most or all of the xkcd fans are like this—thinking the comic is entertaining solely because it validates their opinions—so they interpret comics like this as R Munroe trying to cash in on the current zeitgeist.
"In conclusion, this comic is an abomination and a horrible menace to society, but it's getting better. Imagine a swamp monster has been barging into your home for the last 200 comics. Now imagine that he learned which side of the plate the fork goes on at fancy dinner parties. It's not really real progress, but you feel good about it anyway for some inexplicable reason."
Boy howdy, that sure is a spot on analysis there, Wendelmeer! (Note to self: figure out best way to convey laughing out loud. LOL? Hmm.. could be on to something.) Anonymous is correct when he says the alt-text should have been part of the comic, because you know, it currently reeks of condescending arrogance and elitism. (I'm not fond of that word 'elitism' as it is usually used by slackers, but in this case I feel justified.) And that is how I feel about 610.

The promises of children are worth less than the children themselves.Thank you, Lostman.
SO.
I liked this one. Hooray!
Yeah, me too. The alt text was pretty good too.
the statement above is falseI thought this one was good. If there's any elitism going on it's counter-elitism.
Your funny quote here! (Maybe)Best one in a while, I think. (The last one was okay, but it's been done. Aren't there any other jokes people can think of about TV Tropes?)
I guess it is.No, because every time they try, they wind up stuck in here for three weeks and can't make deadline with anything more complex
The beginnings of a Nietzsche Wannabe outbreak.

What's the frequency Kenneth?|In case of war.Funny, it reminds me heavily of some Candorville strips that I spotted a few years ago when Candorville was new and had less of a story - particularly one that just stuck with me: a heavyset businessman waiting at a crosswalk and a homeless man sitting against a wall glare at each other with hate, each thinking, That selfish bum has no idea what I go through.
Clearly, that comic's stuck with me even though it's been years since I saw it. So, this XKCD was good, but I got a strong sense of deja vu. I wonder if munroe reads Candorville.
It's Been Done. Seriously, just because somebody in the history of the earth has done a joke before doesn't mean he copied it.
Your funny quote here! (Maybe)But it does! Clearly, R Munroe has consumed every piece of media that ever existed and is using all of it as fodder for ripping off. It's all part of his eternal quest to pre-fabricate a popular webcomic without doing any work.
...you know, since we've consumed every piece of media that ever existed, we could do this. We wouldn't have to run ads here anymore.
We still would, though, because we can never have enough Ad Of Win

Productivity is for people without internet connections. -Count DorkuActually, Randall Munroe has a time machine and is plagiarizing himself.
SHIKI is dead.I laughed out loud at this one's alt-text.
Not only did I LOL, I also have "Piggies" by The Beatles stuck in my head now.
online since 1993 | huge retrocomputing and TV nerd | lee4hmz.info (under construction) | heapershangout.comI was in a used bookstore recently and I suddenly became worried everyone was thinking this of me. I was walking around like a glassy eyed automaton, but only because I was thinking of how I was going to get a book that I just couldn't find!

I guess it is.What's BHG's alignment?

I'd say Chaotic Evil, as his actions are both anarchic and murderiffic.

My troper wall's now my troper page, yay! He's got Candle Jack and Hypnotoad in his meme. Watch out.
I avoid talking or reading about xkcd, even though I like it. I've been accused of not holding a valid opinion because I said I agreed with an opinion or I could relate with a position taken in the comic. hate aversion? Hmm. Anyway, the deep, philosophical stuff doesn't do it for me, and I'm not really one to be interested in math (read: I hate math in all forms, even if it is somehow made into an intellectually stimulating joke). I most just like the silliness.
Anyways, seeing as I've violated the first sentence of this post, I'll go back to lurking (at least, when it related to xkcd, anyway).
Oh, and one more thing. What would happen if xkcd referenced tvtropes.org? Would the internet implode? Maybe it already happened and I just don't remember. Ack, brain are hurting.
Serious Business? What?
I think I have to agree with Random Angry Blogger, the TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life page is funnier. But look on the bright side, new tropers.
